IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
I am wanting some imput on IOW Night for 2008. Is anyone interested in donating cash for a IOW night sprint car winner. I also had an idea of maybe having a all star show on that night. members here would place a vote on who they would like to see in a feature race. We could race a shootout style race with the top votes starting on the tail. Maybe start 10 cars. Just tossing the idea around and want to get some feedback about how IOW's would like to handle this. Its our (IOW) race night and we (IOW) will make the rules!!
Also what date would work best besides special shows for everyone. We will not make everyone happy, but my goal is to make the majority happy. Lets have fun with this and put on a great special race within a race. We could make this a annual event, called the IOW Indiana All Star Race. Thanks, Dave Rudisell |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Sprint cars ONLY gets my vote:applaud::pissonwings:

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Hate to do this to you but it is your call. I am 99.999% sure I will be there regardless of the date. I'm sure most dates, especially early in the season will conflict with something. That's just the way it is.
Whatever format gets the nod is okay by me. Donating cash would be okay too. How about a hard charger award in cash too like we were doing a couple years back for a time? |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Yes Sprint cars only for the IOW stuff, but there will be a couple of other classes running that night.
Thanks |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Heres my Idea. Run it right up against the Kings Royal or Knox Nationals (Prob not Knox due to mass midget racing that time of year) Charge 15 bucks with with 3 grand to win 500 to start, Run TQ's and Bombers to round out the show. 30laps, Non wing of course
Free fountain drinks to anyone with a IOW shirt or hat, Skip the discount and keep it for the purse and Give Bill G's Graphics bizz a holla on the PA. Chuck, who will be greatful for anything, just throwing Ideals out there. I doubt there will be a problem gettin car count against Kings Royal, Fans. When Mel did it paying 5 grand it was about regular turnout but he charged much more then for specials like 17 for a 5 grand to win race and 22 for the HFC. He also got 2 bucks for parking in the fairgrounds area for a time :) |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
cant be kings royal week USAC sprint week time I say middle August always slow.
|
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
August 2nd, the night before USAC @ Salem. Sprints and no more than two other divisions. Sell laps @ $20 per, give trophies or plaques to all sprint car winners (heats, B, and Feature) and have them presented by a different IOW member each race such as 'Burg regulars Marv, Dan, Danny B, Hoover, Chuck, etc. I'll be busy doing my security thing with the 50/50 girl.:rolling::kookoo2::rolling:

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
I love this idea. This is just an initial thought following up on Dwight's comment about trophies. I think it is so neat at Oskaloosa having the heat winners get trophies and then giving them to a kid in front of all the fans. Surely something the kid will remember for a lifetime. More ideas to follow. Keep it up!

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
I mentioned the TQ midgets and the Pure Stocks to keep the overal cost of the show down with the fans staying happy with a additonal open wheel and *GOOD* show from both divisions along with the Sprints.

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Maybe Have The Winner Draw A Name (an Iow Memmber) For Some Cash Or Throw 10 Frisbee's With A Dollar Amount On Them And What Ever The Driver Caught Is The Amount Of A Bonus He Will Run For.

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Whatever you guys dream up is cool with us. I would like to nominate my four year old for a ride in the pace truck to start the race.

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
I feel anything with all the fans. The Front Row Challenge is a great fan thing when it doesn't rain... a good model to look at. As well as Girls holding up heat race signs... preferably infront of section A....lol Ummm BEER SPECIALS.... HOTDOG SPECIALS......uhhh.We will need to contain Racefan20... and Danny Burton... but extra security shouldn't be a problem

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
How about a night with qualifing??? But do it like the Racin' with DO Hero & Hot Dog. Everybody pays $$$ to qual and a base purse [sponsor] Fast time pays a bunch and top 3 get cash. It has nothing to do with heat races. Just a good fast time qual event. I saw this on D.O. 1994 video yesterday from the 1st Racin'-fest at Bloomington. You could here the announcers and fans screaming like Indy quals were long ago with the roadsters.
Run passing points to get cars into the feature then invert them all. |

Thats also a Idea you could possibly do with only one other class running, The Two heat passing points invert the first finishers in the second. Chuck |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Have Aero going thru the stands....selling beer.
Have racegal be Miss IOW.com. Have Marv wave the green flag to start the feautre. (This might be an insurance issue though.) |

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Try to follow along, just an idea?
1-Qaulify or Draw 2-1 set of heats 8 cars inverted, last 2 finishers to the semi 3-2nd round of heats with top 6 inverted(eliminate # based on entrants) so that you end up with 16, 18, or 20 cars left. 4-Bmain lined up by Qual times or total # of points take top ? 5 Feature lined up top 10 inverted. 50 laps $5000 to win! Once a car pushes off for his initial heat, he never returns to the pit area!! All cars go to infeild after there heat, they can have 2 crew members and what ever hand tools they can carry. No tires ect.. If you could not do this in the infeild(rain?) then you could have a roped off area in the pits. One RR tire for the entire evening, if you cut a tire and have to go to the pit area(hauler) then you go to the tail of the B. |

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
I say have a 10 lap shootout Darren Clayton vs Kevin Swindell $5,000 to win winner take all. Afterwards a cage fight with Darren Clayton and Jim Whitside vs Kevin and Sammy Swindell. Also have a wagering window for both events. My money will be on Clayton in both events. lol All in fun

This would make for a nice Pay-Per View event(provided the promoter shares in the $ so as not to pess-off D-10). On 2nd thought, If JW goes in the cage 1st, this bout will be over in a matter of seconds, better have plenty of filler material ready! |

One of the BARC members, who is of Polish decent, cooks a "Polish Luau" which consists of layers of ears of corn, potatoes, cabbage, onions and sausage steamed over an open fire in a......garbage can.

:dologob: Idea
Another idea for The Burg to think about 2 day show, Sprints and Midgets. 1200s support. Winners Clash on Friday, Race winners run 20laps. Sprints, Midgets and 1200's 2 day event Fi-Sat. Heats and Sprint b-main Friday. Winners Clash [winners of the season, 20 laps] $2000 to win. C-A Mains Sprints Midget Program 1200s Saturday No Qualifing. Hero & Hot Dog quals. $1000 pot $100 per car to take 3 laps. Fastest counts. EAch $100 is added to the pot pay top 3 fastest times. Saturday after hot laps Run TNT Passing point format. 2 races for points C- A Mains $3000 to win $1000 to start. $100 miss the show. Friday Undergrandstand Driver Autograph session, Band Friday night. Saturday afternoon Wet IOW T-Shirt contest, Chili cook off. :pissonwings: |

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Bear with me here. How about IOW/Argosy Casino All Star Night?
Take ten "all star" drivers and run them for a ten lap shoot-out. Fans place a $20 bet (If you are wearing an IOW T-shirt or hat, the bet will cost you only $15.00) and write on the bet slip (like a 50/50 type ticket) which driver will win. Drop the bet slip in one of ten buckets, one bucket for each of the ten drivers. Which ever driver wins gets the money that was bet, winner take all. If you are the fan that bet for the winning driver and they draw your ticket, you get a prize package of 4 tickets or pit passes, 4 drinks, and 4 burgers for any weekly show and something nice from Argosy if you can convince them to do it. Any fan with that presents a losing ticket gets 50% off of a pit pass or ticket to any weekly show. Run it on any non-USAC Saturday night. This is just a rough idea and may need to be tweaked some. Would it work? |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
How about some good old fashioned 5 lap match races. Midget, Sprint, even two SC cars would be good on a small track.

I really can eat pretty good, A whole subway on the green menu is no more than 700 calories, 10oz steak and Baked potato is only about 750 calories using I can't believe it's not butter spray. Green veggies are free and most fruits 4 per day and anytime as a snack You get creative. Grilled or baked chicken breast you can have two or three of. Stay away from fast food (Main reason I switched direction. Blow it once every couple weeks so you don't get so deprived you blow it everyday. My Chili is only 300 calories a bowl made from 93 percent fat free turkey, Rinsed and drained its even less. By comparison one Cheese Coney is 450 calories itself, Double cheeseburger 750, Fried chicken breast 700 vs 300 for a grilled or baked breast. Chuck, time for weigh in :) Some weeks I loose six or seven pounds, Other times I gain one or two, your body just works like that. Water is the key. |
Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
Just do it as a one day show for the fans we can enjoy it and move on.I would like for you to run the sprint bandit format for the non-wing cars use the girls like they do at oskaloosa for which heat race it is and so on maybe a IOW open wheel wet T-shirt contest at intermission, you could make it real interesting to if you should happen to need to rewet the track and do the show at the same time there and yes fan applause will choose the winner.Run one other class so the show moves quickly and then a band and or cookout when the event is done. For a little bonus maybe do a fan poll on here to let us pick the top five retired drivers and honor them after qualifying is done.

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
How about the "Iron Man Twin 25's".
Twenty five laps topless and 25 topped (must run same car each way), big money bonus to the guy who can win them both (my money is on Haud). Crazy, but it'd be fun to watch! |

Re: IOW Night at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
The Polish Luau is a great event and you don't have to Polish or Hawaiian. RichH in his Jack Roush hat is a hoot. The food ain't bad either.
All ideas are noteworthy here. Dave will have almost too many choices if that is possible. Another could be a drawing for the IOW.com member who can give out the hardware to the winners after each checkered flag. A female IOW.com member can be the trophy girl. |
