Where's Tony Stewart Racing????
 

My brother just called me from his Sun Praire motel because of the rainout, he said that there was no sign of the Stewart cars! Anybody know what the deal is? This has got to be the first USAC race they've missed. Good news was that they had 34 cars! Thats a good sign. But no Stewart cars is really surprising.

At Burg Sprint race. Tracy was is a Kraig kinser Winged car (Without the wing)

It apears to me they are using up their equptment. I could and hope im wrong. If its a points race, I don't know why Hines wouldn't be there.

Tracy is there in the Parker car.

Maybe Chevy pulled out of their engine program. Or at least pulled back.

I was told by a very reliable source at Springfield, that Tracy's TSR Midget program is done for the season.....:10:

Only time will tell who will be back next yr.!!...mite only be single car USAC team in '10??...Will Carr take a hit like Jay did??....not likely!!....just my guess!!...

Let's wait to see what remnants of USAC still exist by next season before speculation on who will drive what for whom. I say this not as an insight whatsoever, especially because I wouldn't believe anything I heard from anybody as to these matters at this point anyway. Neither speculation by those not with USAC, nor declarations BY USAC carry weight heavier than a grain of salt right now...

The word around the campfire for the last couple of months, has been that when the TSR midget motors are gone, the midgets would be parked. No mention has been made, at any campfire I've been to, of the fate of any other TSR cars and/or drivers.

Yes. Don't believe me when I say that no one should believe anything I or anyone else tells them to believe. That is emphatically what I believe. Believe no one source over any other at this point, because circumstances will make liars of us all. And nobody should be disbelieved more than those who claim to know a "truth" that we and others should believe.

I also heard that Tracy's midget program is done for the season. I was also told that there has been no mention of 2010 plans for TSR.

It seems to me that 2010 will be a very important year for USAC. We will see how they handle it. Stay tuned...

I sense a twisted sort of glee when it comes to USAC folding on this message board.

and that is messed up.

Of course I would like to see cost lowered, tracks better prepped and racers paid more. If they go out of business, it's a moot point. (well it would lower the cost!)

If TSR is sponsored by Chevy, then of course it is in trouble.

We do not need USAC to go out of business. In my opinion we need to figure out a way to make them stronger. They have a great product they have just got to figure out how to make it work. The racing in my opinion is better than any of there competition. We all need USAC to survive and get stronger. But stronger while working with the racer, other sanctioning bodies, the promoters and the fans.

Those big "bowtie" emblems on the hoods of the midgets weren't placed there for free; Chevy was indeed, sponsoring TSR, either by supplying motors or financial assistance.

And USAC isn't going anywhere; they'll be around in 2010.....

That's the key Kevin. The product on the track is great. More work needs to be done in the "working together" department. That's on all the levels you listed. Do more of that and everybody benefits in the end.

I know I don't want them to go out of business. I go to more USAC races than anything. I want all three series to get stronger...dirt and pavement.

I agree that a strong USAC, one that works with the drivers, is a good thing. And having a serious sprint car division competitor, like they are going to have next year in Emmett Hahn, they could be forced to make the way they do things better, in order to survive. Healthy competition is always a good thing.

In the interview that I heard, he stated that they are expanding the Sprint Bandits Tour to a series of approximately 40 races. When you consider the superior format that they use and the way these guys run a show, this has got to be great news for race fans and race teams.

Yeah. It really sucks to go to a race program and see every car, race for every position, in every race.:3: Now don't get me wrong, I go to every USAC dirt race held with 200 miles of where I live, so I walk my talk when it comes to being a USAC fan and supporter. Having seen quite a few races run under this format this year, I just think USAC could learn some things from these guys.

If USAC decides to beat Hahn by putting a superior product on the track and just being better than the show that Emmett brings to town, then the fans and race teams will benefit and will love USAC all the more for it. However, if they decide to put pressure on tracks and try to stop them from scheduling Sprint Bandit events, there'll be a fan backlash, IMO. Race fans will resent anybody who tries to limit the number of marquee shows they can go to their local track and see.

1. the silver crown enthusiest in me wants USAC around because well, how else would there be a 49th Tony Betttenhausen 100 or 52nd Ted Horn 100
2. i love USAC but that being said. if there are means to make things better for drivers owner crew, everyone that makes the cars go round that track, and put on a good show for the fans then it would be ludicris to not chase every means possible to do so

That was the same car Tracy has run at the Prairie a couple of times early this season at non USAC shows. I always thought it was his own (or families) car. It didn't have any TSR logos on it that I noticed. Tracy ran a heck of a race IMHO. Hope he brings it back for the Fireman's Nationals this Saturday

As a fan of both USAC and Mr. Hahn, I wonder what the promoters will say about this. Many feel too many special shows dilute the weekly product. Also the budget needed to run that many races may exclude many teams, especially if great distances of travel are involved. If this can convert west of the Mississippi over to non wing, then it couldbe a win for both divisions.

If Hahn's going to compete with USAC, IMO, he'll have to do some of it here the Hoosier State (Where so much of the talent and throngs of racing fans are) and Illinois (a state with plenty of tracks, that borders states Emmett has already been successful in and is racing starved, just waiting to be exploited by someone who'll bring the shows to them.) Only time will tell, but this would be my guess which states (among others) you might see TNT expand to. Regardless, this will be the big racing story of the early part of next year.

Since this thread has drifted off topic, I will go ahead and help it. I want everyone to remember that not everything that Emmitt has touched has turned out golden. A couple of years ago, he was going to start a 410 program to compete with the Outlaws which went no where. It is too early to judge his National 360 tour that he started this year. However, there were a lot of schedule cancelations to start the year.

I love midget racing, and hope that he has success. However, I am not sure that starting a midget division in the OK and Texas region is going to be a success. Neither region has been known for great midget racing.

What a lot of folks in non-wing mecca (Indiana) might not realize is that there is a ground swell of support in the Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and even Tennessee area for sprint car racing (I don't call them non-wing sprint cars because I believe that only real sprint cars race without wings - the others are winged sprint cars:2:). Cases in point - Smiley Sitton's 305 series routinely has races without wings, Riverside in Memphis has a 305 class that runs weekly without wings, and I think one of the tracks in southern Missouri also regularly races without wings, and I think there may be others. All this to say that, while it would be good for the name drivers/teams in Indiana to participate with Emmett, it may not be necessary for TNT to go to Indiana to market their racing. If the ASCS history is any judge, Emmett will do his best to make this work as long as he feels he has the committment from the competitors.

And you are absolutely correct. This could be the big racing story of 2010.

Only thing that draws me to a USAC race is the best teams will be there to put on great racing. TNT format is awsome, but I have only watched it on the internet. Maybe if TNT expanded USAC would feel some pressure to shape things up.

Everyone can say what they want about why tsr pulled the plug. The fact of the matter is they were not getting results! Let me say it again...they were not getting the results that tony expects for the money he is putting into the program! If midget races were paying $1 to win and tsr was dominating it would be worth it to tony...believe me!...

It all comes down to the mechanics setting the cars up! Thats right! Tony has gave them everything to win! They just can't close the deal because they are not sharp enough!..

Tony is cleaning house and getting ready for next year, why throw good money after bad? Are dan drainin, kelly drake, tim shutt, mike striecher or bob east available?

I dont have any inside info on this subject,but I bet Tony has little or no money of his own in this operation,I would think this cut back is more lack of money to run this deal than ant thing else.Do to Chev cutbacks.
