Might be tough all around. Champ cars are at DuQuoin, USAC sprints are at Calistoga (albeit a non-points "Special Event"), MSCS is at Haubstadt and there is a weekly show up here at Kokomo. And that's just on Sunday. The only silver lining is that Danville cancelled, that might send a few more cars to both Haubstadt and Kokomo.

make-up features at Gas City on Sep. 4th. should be 2 sprint features time permitting.

Re: Big races Labor Day weekend

Does Gas City have curfew? I didn't know they did but I was wondering after they mention
We will run as many features as possible. Also will they run makeup features first and then run a
regular program or will they run make up after regular program?

duel 8/26/09 2:59 PM

Re: Big races Labor Day weekend

i think they will run them after the regular show. they used to have some sort of a curfew that enabled them to go over 2 or 3 times a year i think.

Re: Big races Labor Day weekend

Being one of the last cars out of the track I think they said that they will hot lap everyone then run the sprint car feature and then start the regular show with the other feature run as time permits. Like I said I think this is what was announced. On a side note I am perfect for picking a low number and having the show rained out before it is done. :15:

Waynesfield is running on Friday of Labor Day weekend. It is also DARF Night. THey are doubling the sprint car fun with the Non-winged sprints and the winged 360 sprints. This is my only show for the weekend.

Stan Fox Memorial midget race at Dodge County Fairgrounds by Beaver Dam Friday nite Sept 4 followed on Saturday nite just down the road with the Fireman's Nationals in Sun Prairie. The latter is USAC/Badger co-sanction and I would guess a few of the USAC fellows will run the Fox the night before for the decent purse they offer. Promises to be two straight nites of great racing only about 30 miles apart.

We make plenty of road trips during the summer so i think it's about time some Indiana and Ohio people make a trip to Wisconsin once. The midget racing labor day weekend will be great. :22:

Calistoga! The last of the largest 1/2 miles west of that River. Last one left of the BIG Three! Who would have thought that? (Manzy, Ascot)
Weather could be cool. Heat wave started today. Should last 3 or 4 days, then the fog should creep in. Poor crop of tomatoes this year. Even for the cool weather fruit. Tonight one of the warmest nights of this growing season.

I'm assuming "that River" is the Mississippi, is Calistoga larger than Knoxville?

Re: Big races Labor Day weekend

Third race of the year! That is retirement for me, did do Chili Bowl, the CRA USAC Petaluma, then this weekend. Forgot we did go to the Manzy rain out, only the second time ever for the long flight.

Yuk Yuma, (you are in the dry heat now!) well if you go to Costco in El Centro, go to the old fairgrounds across from the airport, check out the old half mile and day dream! The Worlds fastest 3/8s, under sea level! Good for the Tee shirts. Hey!

My other knee went out last week, iced it all weekend. Did go to the store tonight so no limp! Do I trust it ? Not yet. Wonder if I can push off going up the stairs.

I don't know what is planed for the weekend. My son flying in from New Mexico late Friday night. I do know we will be around the 92,& 50 car after the races Saturday if I can walk. Need to say hi to Stan and Dick! Maybe have some fine wine. Do miss the old wine-coolers there. I don't know what he wants to eat. May BBQ at Foothill Dr. I'll drive over Friday and check things out. Maybe stop by say hi to Moose 92 motor home they said they should be there Thursday.

Statler non wing WOW! That puts him over 25 years ago for him on the big half mile. NO-wing!

Jesse Hocket will be fun to watch on the track. Sprint and midget, oh my!

List of drivers. http://louievermeilclassic.com/race :8:

I can say we must have had it bad! Then no BS. We put our dollar around this great nation! I'm thinking, is my friend C.G.jr. going be there? I see that I can't find the new track record around 19.7 something set last year.

This hot girl is saying she's there.
http://www.chick-o-motorsports.com/ on the 1/2 mile. I wanted to go, but retired. (Civil War race 360s) I stayed home and played with the Cocker Spaniel. My Hammer, the dog! #17.

I like it! chick-o-motorsports.com :8:
These fans don't know what they are missing. No other track in the states with nature at it's finest. One thing missing is the glider rides! Never did that.
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...&v=x3cbWFRu8dM

They would buzz the track!

Real fans should come out next year. See what we have here. If you thought Manzy was great, Calistoga with this NON WING Sprint and Midget show! Can't be beat. It's just a wast only 5 or 6 shows a year. For you Wing fans, Working Woody says there no finer track! They should know! Can't beat what Mother nature has around here.

Both nights the midgets were amazing @ Calistoga. The sprints too for that matter, but I believe the midgets stole the weekend with exciting action. Tony Jones will be on hand this year and is hungry with that bastard engine aboard the "Silver Bullet" #4. Can't wait. Forgot how big that 1/2 mile is and scary fast. Great weekend for racing and many thanks to the race's organizing committee (Chad Hawkins and crew) for putting it all together.
