Re: Kevin Swindel
Everyone has crashed somebody sometime but K.Swindell does not seem to respect his fellow drivers or the sport in my opinion. Clayton usaully only crashed by himself. He is still agressive but with more control as he has honed his skills. Kevin has enough talent not to be a punk but he choses to stay one. I know some people hear will rip me apart for using the term "Punk" but deal with it. I am sure he has been called worse. Like others have said in the past....The Apple did not fall to far from the tree when discribing Kevin.

Re: Kevin Swindel
Does anyone know where I can read a genuine, first-hand account of what happened in California(?) recently between Kevin, his dad, and Clayton?:help:

You know for being such an a** we give that punk too much press around here. Let's try and use the "if you ignore it, it will go away" theory.

Re: Kevin Swindel
Sam i have it on DVR at the house. They were with Clayon in-car and Swindell drove straight overtop of him, causing Clayton to flip and Kevin kept going. Under red Clayton went over to the 9 on the frontstretch and got to about his front bumper before getting popped by Sammy. In Clayton's interview he said that Sammy hit him in the head and kicked his face while he was down. And that was about it. I'll try to get it on dvd and get it to you.
And concerning the race and same team... did anyone else question when Kevin pulled into the pits later in the A complaining that he didn't have brakes, and the crew checked the rear end and saw that the rotor was missing....and then had the push truck put him back on the track? (only to be black flagged before green) just some thoughts |

In racing... not sure about saiyings...but in basketball they say the ball don't lie. Coud this apply here....This is still funny.

Re: Kevin Swindel
Kevin was without brakes when him and clayton got together at Perris i was in the work area when he pulled in on the next yellow.
Kevin by far has a lot more talant then most out there, that we can say is a fact....Can you really blame him for being young and alittle bit crazy...i mean have you seen sprintcar racing latley the young guys dont care if they pile it up on a night going for the win in a heat let alone a main event cause they know that there high dollar sponsers are going to have a car ready the next night to go do that same thing... Lets face it Clayton might only take him self out most of the time when he wrecks 20+ times in one season but thats just him being lucky, that he only manages to kill him self and not others..... DONT HATE THE PLAYA HATE THE GAME SOMETIMES!!!! RG:darland: |
Re: Kevin Swindel
For know brakes he stopped pretty good on the front stretch after hitting CLAYTON:idea:

Amazing the short memory some folks have. There is a certain driver now in the NAPCAR ranks that is widely described as the best nonwing openwheel driver of modern times. He routinely punted other drivers on his way to such feats as winning the triple crown. I even have a video of him literally driving over the hoods of 3 different cars enroute to a win. During the interview after the races, you could barely hear him justify his actions over the boos. But he is the greatest, and he is not alone...
Not saying that Kevin is not "guilty as charged", but let's not have a double standard. One standard will do just fine. |

Re: Kevin Swindel
What you can't say DD around here if it might be negative? Oh brother.
Is anyone old enough to remember when DD first started? Probably not to many. I'm sure every driver has had a rough start or season. You guys just don't care for a winger to come in and do a decient job and his last name is Swindell so his daddy haters hate him as well.:loser: |
Re: Kevin Swindel
I find it ironic that Kevin Swindell receives so much space on Daron Clayton's message board.
Good thing our heroes from the 60's and 70's missed the multiple In-Car-Camera, DVR and message board era of motorsports. There would be fewer oltimer autograph sessions at our favorite events. |

Re: Kevin Swindell
I have refrained from commenting on this thread but feel it necessary to speak up.
I've know Kevin for many years, back in the WKA karting era; my sons and he raced the same races. We never competed directly with Kevin, he ran the champ kart classes and my sons only ran the karts in those days. Kevin was a competitor and won some races, he made some bonzaii moves and lost some races too. He was always polite and liked to play around with the other kids when they weren't on the track. His mother is one of the nicest ladies you will meet. She was always in a good mood and would speak first when you met her. Sammy was always quiet, I assumed he was being arrogant, but only because of his reputation; he never gave me any reason to believe he wasn't just shy. Kevins driving, in his final year of karting, had become pretty wild and aggressive. It looked to me like he had a tremendous amount of pressure on him in the kart, outside he was just another goofy teen hanging out with the boys. I would imagine he is under even more pressure today in USAC and whatever other cars he drives. I was never a Sammy fan, but don't carry that attitude over to Kevin. Sammy fighting Kevins fights for him? Well, I have 2 points about that. 1. If you are going to fight my one of my sons, you will have to come through me to get to them. 2. If one of my sons makes a bonehead move that causes you problems, you will be able to talk to him- only after I have my say with him. I try to hold my sons to a higher standard in racing and life, but sometimes they make mistakes too. Maybe these young guns need some compassion and understanding from the veterans. I know they need to learn respect for their fellow drivers, but sometimes the veterans need to meet them further than halfway. If you have a wild driver, take a few minutes before practice and talk to them, they may just not know what they are doing wrong. just my $.02 |
