VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
Joe Spiker wants to know what time the teams and fans would like to start at VCS...
Right now, Racing is set to begin at 7pm CDT. I think starting hotlaps at 3pm and racing at 5pm, would be a better option especially since the track prep is pretty good at VCS. What do you think? |
Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
Hotlaps at 5pm CDT. and Racing at 6pm. That way not too much sun to kill the track and realize that you will probably need to rewater and work later in the evening.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
I agree with you(racing at 6PM EDT), an 8PM EDT start will keep me at home on Sunday. I had planned to have mowerman let me know what time it ended this week to see if I could get home before midnight. You guys can say what you want but work pays the bills and that comes before racing. :15:

short racing would like to race. but only if we can get an earlier starting time.....the earlier the better:8:

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
If it started earlier we might make the trip over from Bloomington. I like Bill's idea of hot laps at 3:00.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
hotlaps at 3 and racing at 5 might get me over there. Wouldn't even think about if :35:they don't start until 8 (est)

hot lap at 3, and the track will more then likely be rubber down right around the bottom... It has gotten that way on a regular night of racing that didnt starts hot lapping till 630 or 7... I understand people wanting to get home early, and not saying anything bad about the track or track prep but the cars and sun will really hurt that track..

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
Why not hot laps 11 and racing at 12. Fans and teams could do both Danville and Kokomo.
I know....too much sun, track not good enough, too much dust, but a day show here and there would be nice. I say the 3 o clock would be good. |
Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
I posted on another thread that I really want this to work for Joe. We planned on being there this week to help support VCS but as I mentioned an 8:00 PM EDT start with 5 classes could be trouble. Under the best of circumstances it would probably be midnight at the earliest that we would be getting home. A 5:30 AM wake up call makes for a very short night and a long day on Monday. I would vote for hot laps at 5:00 PM CDT and racing at 6:00 PM CDT. Anything later could hurt car count and attendance from the Indiana side of the border. I don't know when the school bell rings in Illinois, but Indiana school have either started or will this next week. That will be a stopper for families.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
I would go for three or earlier, Seeing how I have to be up by 5am to be at work by 6:15am ( School Bus Driver ) I loose an hour coming home.
I will not be able to go if it starts at 7pm, 8pm Indy time. Being the track photographer, if I'm still considerd the track photographer. My opinion is just that, my opinion. I hope Joe listen's to everyone, from what I'm hearing early is good! Dave Gansert VCS Track Photographer |

Hot laps at 3 racing at 4 and plan to cut, water and redo the track after heats.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
Glad to hear that D.O. Thank you Joe! Life is really good, Brunch (invite only) at the new PIT STOP BBQ in Brownsburg Sundy Morning, and racing at VCS Sunday afternoon.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.

Joe,
One could only hope. I know it isn't official until its posted on the the web site, or I get a call from Joe. I think those times would work for alot of us east of Danville. Life is still good, Brunch is still on and there will be racing at Danville. Just maybe not when most of us would like. I would still like to thank Joe for everything he has done, and all he will do for the sport of dirt track racing. Dave Gansert VCS Track Photographer |
Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
Just start racing at 6 o'clock central time any earlier and you might has well stay home and watch the train go by there. It has been great to see Joe take over Danville and have a couple of nights where the track has been wet and tacky all night long and not take any rubber until at least half way thru the feature. The IL. sprint week show is the way they should prepare the track for every race that was the best shape that track has been in for over twenty years, now I just wish they would put the wall back around the top of the track where it used to be.

Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
6PM race time works for me. Get people in the gate and out the gate at a reasonable hour on a work night.
I gotta start work at 4am. |
Re: VCS Sunday Start Times... You input needed.
