Nice to see USAC National Sprints in May at Bloomington. It will be nice to see the National Sprints twice at Bloomington. I am really looking forward to the National Midgets at Bloomington. Bloomington is a great midget track.

According to this schedule, September 13th the National Midget Series is at ORP. Yesterday, the Anderson Speedway schedule showed the National Midget Series there on that date. Interesting!:doh:

You are correct, Fred. The USAC/CRA sanctions the sprint car portion of the "Copper on Dirt". I wish it were a National event, but, it isn't.

32 confirmed National Sprint events and 31 National Midget dates. As Marty pointed out in his post, that stretch at the end of July and beginning of August for midgets is incredible...Someone asked about Terre Haute? Relax, they are working on it...

Overall a great schedule for both divisions. A six night midget week is AOK! I noticed that Salem is scheduled for a Sunday afternoon, sprints only, 30 laps. No Joe James/Pat O'Conner event? All in all, great job Gregg Staab!

I don't know if anyone noticed this. Belleville on 8/2 then Salem sprint 8/3 then two days latter Midget week starts. Maybe it was a good idea to let the midget guys have a few days before the start of midget week to get their equipment ready. Very strong schedule of racing from July 29 thru. Aug 10th. Some of us do need to mow the yard and pet the dogs at least once a month.

Yeh, I don't like that because IF it rains out at Belleville , We will run on Sunday night (8/3) and it came real close this year to happening. And I dont like it beause it's asking a lot out of the teams to run late Saturday night at Belleville and than race at Salem the next day. ( 720 MILES ) Apart

I'm really glad to see the sprint and midget show at Joliet on Sept. 5. Talk about an under utilzed track! I am a little dissappointed that there is no dates for Granite City. Hopefully that might change.

So to go to the event on 7/26 at IRP, you have to go to the Busch race too? Yippie. Just the type of fans I look to avoid. I hope that is one of the changes.

Which means technically right now Terre Haute isn't in a possition to schedual something.

These guys are gonna need a lear jet. Sure it's not one vennue like the WoO but IMHO much more competitive and a greater number of cabable winning teams in each division.

Williams Grove? Is that televised???????? Thats gonna be scary!

These two were mentioned in posts on this thread as missing. USAC and the promoters apparently have just changed the dates a bit from the past.
BTW, some might not realize that the Joe James/Pat O'Connor Classic has traditionally referred to the sprint car race. It was a Sunday afternnon in October event for years.

Thanks so much to Dick for the Long Distance Traveler's version of the schedule. That is very helpful! I know that Midget Madness is attempting to put together a complete midget schedule but a combined schedule is a great idea.

Just amazing I hope it is subject to change for the sprints nothing on dirt from when speedweeks is over to Eldora 4 crown because I do not consider Joliet a place to go at all it is a piece of chit track why do they not go back on labor day and co-sanction at haubstadt again or is this there answer for that weekend now by scheduling junky Joliet.

The last USAC event at Joliet, a sprint/midget double-header was run on a good track.
BTW, Darland sure had 'em covered until Lynn's car gave up near the finish.

I wonder how the Sprint car drivers and owners feel about this race considering most of them will be at the Kansas race the night before. Hopefully this is 1 of the races that are (subject to change)

I don't know what happened with Toledo/Mansfield. Last I talked with Greg he was disapointed that he wasn't able to land any races for the fourth of July weekend in any div. He mentioned something about most of them felt they wanted to stay away from those dates. If you got any pull with a track near you, bend their ears and get them to call Greg. I'm sure he would appreciate help with those dates.

Pat, Joliet was pretty good that nite and real racy. Dave broke the track record, won his heat, got the lead in the main and had over a straightaway lead. The last lap the crank broke. A reminder in this business the highs and lows are only a half a second apart. Another tough nite for one of the best and he can still smile for the fans after that. DD style.

Winchester and Eldora were the original two tracks for Border Wars. I realize that there are no Ohio tracks involved but the Gas City - L'burg - Winchester weekend in April is a fine replacement.

In the USAC National Midget Schedule released Thursday, please make the following changes:

The date listed for July 26 in Indianapolis should be listed as July 24.

The date listed for May 16 at New Salem, WI, should be liisted as West Salem, WI.
