Re: Joe spiker
Mr. Spiker needs to get rid of them clowns working the wreckers & the infield help.
They don`t know there ass from a hole in the ground.i know it was in the contract to keep all the old help. That said i enjoyed all the the races & improvements. Good to be back home. Things will only get better from here on. on a side note the flagman got his when he went to pee.notice he put on a different shirt about half way through the night. |
Re: Joe spiker
He needs to have the rescue staff trained for emergencies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Joe spiker
Joe you really need to do something about that rut in turn 2. The place looked alot better though. Keep it Spiker:6:

Re: Joe spiker
I think Mr. Spiker is putting the effort into the facility that it truly needs. There are not enough hours in the day to make up for years of wear and tear on the facility over night. I believe in time he will get the kinks worked out.
The question I would like to ask is, How do tracks get away with not having a true operational abulance at the track? I was collecting my money last night when a gentleman was being hauled off the racing surface in their "ambulance". From what I gathered from the situation is that they were unable to transport the driver in the track ambulance. He was driven to the entrance where they parked and waited on a ambulance to be dispatched and pick up the driver for transport. I dont know his condition or the circumstances of his accident. My point being is that if a driver, fan, or crew member needs immediate assistance it should be there. I would think that the insurance company would make it manditory to have a fully operational ambulance present at all times. I would like to thank Bloomington, L-Burg, & Haubstadt for all having such great safety equipment and personel. I'm not trying to pick at LPS, but I believe this needs to be addressed at the few tracks we compete at that dont have the proper safety crews. |
Re: Joe spiker
It sounds like it was an AWSOME night for the "NEW LPS"!!!! Update on Mark Auler's back injuries he suffered from his mod wreck last night. The MRI came back with great news,he will be held over for 24hrs and then if all goes well he will be sent home sporting a neck braise but comming home never the less..:6::8:.

Re: Joe spiker
night and day difference in the track in my opinion. Bill is 100% correct in saying all will not be corrected overnight. I never thought I'd ever say I looked forward to going to LPS ever again but I have and will continue to support Joe and his crew. Congrats to my cousin Brian and his crew on a super win lastnight!!

Re: Joe spiker
The changes and the effort have prompted us to go back again next week. The ole place just needs some attention and time. I think given time, LPS can return to being THE Saturday night track.

Re: Joe spiker
Last week, my girlfriend and I did a U-turn @ Princeton when it became obvious, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there was no way Mother Nature was going to let the race @ Haubstadt happen. It was right at the edge of the time window, that if we headed back North, we would get to see at least SOME racing at the newly managed Lincoln Park Speedway. And as it turned out, just as Mother Nature had taken away, she would also giveth, by providing the rain delay that would allow us to see the action from the last sprint heat on. So including last Saturday night and this one, we've seen a little over one and a half racing programs under the flag of the new Spiker administration. I can say, without a doubt, that we had a fun time at the track on both nights. While the track was a little on the rough side both nights, it certainly didn't stop the surface from being racy. Especially last night. There were two passes for the lead in the last lap and a half, leading up to the checker. And other than the top row, reserved seating @ Haubstadt, we watched it all from about the best race track vantage point you can get. There really isn't a bad seat in the house at this track.
One thing that I enjoyed about being a fan at Spiker's shows, at Vermilion County Speedway this year, has been the fun, easy going atmosphere at those events. The track staff always seemed glad to be there and happy to have you there. And the same could be said about the fans. That's what I went there wondering if I would see. That's what had been missing for quite a while. The one thing that had been keeping this great facility from being a great place to see a race. I am happy to report, that in this category, Joe Spiker and his team get very high marks for the job that have done, so far, in my experience. I saw two very big crowds that looked similar to family reunions, in the way so many people were interacting with one another and how much those in attendance generally looked glad to be there or in many people's case, looked glad to be back. I know I am. Only time will tell how this venture will work out for Joe and his team. There are several issues, that are tangible things (track smoothness, show logistics, etc.), that could be improved upon. Knowing what I've seen of this promoter, I have no doubt that this will happen. In the end, the customer always votes with his/her feet. And judging by the number of people in attendance on both of these nights, Joe's got a whole lot of people rooting for him the be a success. More than likely, we're headed back there next Saturday. Re: Joe spiker
well when someones car catchs fire and they cant put it out what happens? spiker just say were trying to work on geting a fire truck just not in the budget right now but he can pay 2 sheriff's to watch the gate for arm bands?
|
Re: Joe spiker
Why doesn't the local fire department or "volenteer department" just come over for the exposure? People feel comforted knowing these fire trucks are available in their comunities. If they (the fans) see them there and the announcer mentions it a few times people know they have a fire department.
Just seems like a good deal for everybody if they are there. |
Re: Joe spiker
:34; First time to LPS Saturday night. Enjoyed meeting Bill Gardner for the first time. Couple of observations from an outsider.
1. Joe spiker and crew are alway friendly and listen to us drivers. I appreciate that. 2. Ambulance and rescue squad situation needs fixed!!! 3. Great attendance and good crowd. It is fun racing in front of full grandstand and LPS has one of the most unique layouts with the hillside stands and grassy area. Love it. 4. Track:15: To say it is a little rough is like saying Steve Kinser is an OK sprint driver. I feel lucky to get out of there not tearing up too much equipment. When asked by an official at the end of the night would I be back, I answered not for a while or until they get the track smoothed out. I enjoy racing a nice cushion but that is NOT what it was Saturday night. I wish you fans could see actually how high and hard that "concrete wall" was coming out of two. I really believe that Joe and his crew will eventually get the place straightened out. The effort they have already put in is beyond belief. But they have their work cut out for them with the track. Shane Hollingsworth put it to me this way. " This place has lots of character" I would agree with him. It has a long way to go to be as racey as VCS or some other tracks in Indy. Hopefully next time I go when ever that is the lights will stay on all night and have corner lights as well. Like I said before, they have a long way to go. But I think eventually Joe and his crew will get it. Good luck to all who race there every week and thanks to Shane , BP and others who were free with setup advice Saturday night. I appreciate it. Re: Joe spiker
I cant believe they even let the cars on the track with no ambulance or firetruck on the property. His insurance company must not know about that or his rates are skyhigh. If the drivers where smart they would not race until one was on the property. This is just my opinion.

Re: Joe spiker
There was an ambulance on the premises. Don't know if properly equipped or not but was told it was not available to transport modified driver. Don't know for sure. These are things that all drivers ( myself included) must look into before racing at a new facility. I have no doubt the Joe will get the proper personnal in place.
As I mentioned in my previous post my only complaint besides the lights was the roughness of the track. Of course it could be that I am old and out of shape.:5::5:. My advice to all is to have some patience with them. I will probably try it again next year after they have some time to get the track figured out. I have seen what they have done at VCS which is a great track week in and week out. |
the lights did that back in the mike farrar days also i heard mike and tj talk about when we worked there and they said everytime they turned the exhaust fan for the pit concession is when the lights would go out..but you think a guy that owned his own eletric company would have figured it out..lol

I think if you would just pay attention.bloomington, kokomo, paragon, all have to wait for an amulance before they tranport.lps has always done it also.
The thing that bothered me more was them turning the car back over & just letting it flop. After all the man could have been hurt worse than he was & im damn sure that would not help. They need to take a serious look at the help they have in the infield. Get some push trucks that can get up & push the cars & not act like they are circling the wagons. Im sure that mr. Spiker will get this straightened out. I am not bashing just stating some facts. |
i hear the 10 modifed mark auler is done for good...this came from shortbus son dale

Re: Joe spiker
You know it's a shame all people want to do is piss and moan, the race track is the same for everybody and it is actually pretty damn smooth, my head hasn't hit the right rear the last two races! ( thats how long Spiker has been there ) If the curb bothers you set up for the bottom. It seemed to work pretty well for Hayden... I do agree about the wrecker drivers, fire and rescue squad. The push truck guys are going to kill someone! I have seen them fly across the track up close and personal in a couple of the races I've been in, I guess they think we can push the clutch in and stop. I will go back, The place is wild and I've been going there since before they had concrete for the bleachers rooting for men that are now legendary. So *****, complain, or say thanks, as for me I'm glad Joe is there and I'm glad I have a place to race.

I have personally had an all expense paid trip to the hospital from bloomington speedway in the ambulance, and I was not switched from one ambulance to another. Bloomington always waits to have an ambulance present before racing continues if a driver does get transported. That doesn't mean that they wait for the replacement to arrive before they take the injured party to the ER. |
Re: Joe spiker
Starting this Saturday there will be both an ambulance and a fire truck at the track. Putnam County Operation Life will supply the ambulance and the Madison Township Vol. Fire Dept. will provide the fire truck.
Joe is also going to keep the current ambulance along with the people that ran it on staff... Also, the reason the lights are going out is because pits and backstretch lights on same breaker. there will be an electrical company working on it. |
Re: Joe spiker
Well there you go, He is getting it done right. Thanks for the continued efforts to improve a great place.
