That time of the year again
The sprint bandit tour is scheduled for the week of the 16th. There are people already asking for an approx. car count. So I come over to the experts on the board. What are you guys thinking? I am thinking 25 to 30 and that does include local guys that do not run non=wing cars maybe expect for Bacon.

Re: That time of the year again
I am by no means an expert, and several people will agree with this, but I was wondering the same thing, also how many if any racers from around here will make the trip? Can't wait to go:31:

Re: That time of the year again
According to Creek Co. schedule and my son, who lives in Sapulpa, it's still a go with SMRS midgets. we're going out there next weekend, I'll find out more then. Thanks.

Re: That time of the year again
Jeff, I appreciate the info,I was looking at another site and it didn't include Creek Co Speedway. I have e-mailed Sprint Bandits and Lonnie Wheatly, but no response as of yet.:15:

Re: That time of the year again
What kind of purse are they paying?? Is there a point fund??? I have also sent an email with no response...The website is weak with no information. If they want cars to tow from Indiana to run this deal it would probably be a good idea to have some information available.

Re: That time of the year again
If I get ahold of Lonnie in the next couple of days I will have him post some info on this board.
I can tell you that the people down here love the racing that the non-wing cars put on. Alot of us look forward to this series every year. I can tell you that I have gone to at least one race each year the bandits have come here. There is a track here in the okc metro area( Not SFS) that is trying to add a economy non-wing sprint class for next year. Rather it takes off or not is another story. ---------- Post added at 12:21 AM ---------- Previous post was Yesterday at 10:24 PM ---------- Talked to Lonnie Creek is running Purse is the same as it as been in the past As far as he knows no point fund |

Re: That time of the year again
USAC is running the 10K Dick Gaines Classic @ Lawrenceburg Speedway :2: Saturday 8/22 against the TnT finale...I'd have to imagine that will remove a few cars from that night at least.

Re: That time of the year again
If anyone has any questions I would give them a call and see what you can find out. I know this a big deal to the people around here and love to see you guys down here.

Re: That time of the year again
I don't have the complete breakdown with me, but it's $4,000 to win, $300 to start the feature and $100 for non-qualifiers up until the $10,000 to win finale at Lakeside.
Hope that helps. Thanks, Lonnie Wheatley............. I didnt ask about a point fund....hope there is one.....Also have heard nothing about Creek running sprint cars just midgets but who knows... |

Not to mention Silver Crown At Springfield Silver Crown at Springfield, so what does this do to the 10K at the Burg, both USAC events? |

Re: That time of the year again
The Springfield Silver Crown race has, more often than not, conflicted with the KC finale of the TNT tour. The drivers involved never had a problem getting KC via charter flight. It's hard to say how the Lawrenceburg race will impact the situation. With further conflicts at the end of the season, it appears neither Emmett Hahn or USAC are in a mood to talk to each other.

Re: That time of the year again
A quick check and I came up with this group...
1 (Yeley Car) Maybe Grant? 7K Bruce St. James 8Z Mathew Shedarowich (?) 11 Bryan Clauson 11D Caleb Armstrong 13 Jesse Hockett 14 Coleman Gulick 17R Kyle Robbins 21x Casey Shuman 38 Levi Jones 71 Damion Gardner (?) 81 Robert Ballou 97 Bret Mellenberndt (?) 99 Brady Bacon Plus Jerry Bell is planning to run someone in his car. A lot of guys are saying maybe right now. This is an excellent chance to do a lot of racing in a short period of time, all while getting paid pretty good money. The tracks vary quite a bit and are all good. I'd really like to see more guys try it out... |
