55 laps... hmm that should be good for 2 or 3 red flags to refuel and put on new tires.

Rahmer, and other Pa posse cars, pitman, are heading out. Darrah going to knoxville a week early. Can a pa team win at a non Pa track? yes, have done it before.

Re: The Inaugural "Ironman 55" - 55 lap feature for the WoO sprints - first time

Latest from the Grove's msg boards indicates the following PA cars at I-55 :
51 Fred Rahmer, 30 Lance DeWeese, 17 Darren Pittman, 89 Cody Darrah
& 1 Stevie Smith (I-55 track record holder).
All are running strong lately with quality Ws this yr.
Watch young Darrah, he's goin' places..
The amusing & entertaining Posse-Outlaw feud comes to Pevely ...should be interesting to see how they matchup on a track <1/2mi that's not shaped like a paper clip.

:23:Definitely a very classy and interesting track! Schrader has done a great job:8: with the new MUSCO lighting and the best PA system I've seen at a track.:23:

Neat place....any dirt racing fan should go to this joint at least once...and for me worth going back!

I'll be there at least for Sat. Been to over 20 WoO races there since 89 and a few were some of the best races I've ever seen. One of the best tracks for winged sprinters for sure. But yeah it's time for Schrader and Ray Marler to get some wingless action going on there.

Jason, the kids, my sis and nephews will be heading over for both nights! And I agree w/ Petey, I have seen some of the best WoO shows at this track!

I am sure the track is well worth the trip, but I can't see myself paying big $$ for a WoW race anywhere. :42::

Fri - Sprints & Midgets @ Granite City (both ran there on same night before).
Sat - Sprints & Midgets @ Pevely
Sun- Silver Crown @ DuQuoin
Mon - hang around for modifieds & ARCA dayrace at DuQuoin.

Re: The Inaugural "Ironman 55" - 55 lap feature for the WoO sprints - first time

Well, all I can say to everyone is this. I have been to many short tracks throughout the US, as have many of the readers on the IOW have. I-55 is not only a fast race place, but it is a fun place to watch a race. Easy to get to from I-55, and a good to track to bring the family to. Being a non wing sprint racing fan as well, I like driving up to Haubstadt and Terre Haute to watch non wing racing, they are fun race place's to watch racing and getting to. I plan on going to Haubstadt again and Lawrenceburg and Bloomington this year as well.

As far as the wing non wing issue, hey! so be it. When I get a chance to see Danny Smith, Steve Kinser, and Joe Saldana -Indiana open wheel favorites of mine, I go.

Everyone has constructive criticism about the WoO I know - I do also. So, come on out to I-55, have a good time, and support short track sprint car racing.

If it is your first time to I-55, let me know and I will show you arouind the St. Louis area. I work at the St. Louis Zoo, so if you bring your family and want to see it during the day, before the nightly races, just let me know.

Have a good day...see you at the races

take him up on it - one of the best zoos in the world. Then go to the Cafe Affton ( http://www.cafeaffton.com/ ) for their toasted ravioli & house salad (cheap & good).

Re: The Inaugural "Ironman 55" - 55 lap feature for the WoO sprints - first time

randyrad, I have had an extended invitation to any race fan who ventures this way. I started this open invitation a few years ago as well as the Midwest Connection. Why? Because I, like many other fans who travel to a new track for the first time, it is like being in the "Twilight Zone."

I was also informed by DannyK who is from the Oswego, New York area that he is heading to I-55 to film the race for the two days with dirtvision. Not sure if he is at Oswego tonight for the Silver Crown's. So, I will be looking for him at I-55.

And at one time, I even went to the extent to request from the construction company next door to me, permission to park a friends Silver Crown car.

So, if you come this way maybe perhaps for the Gold Crown Nationals at Tri City Speedway, Illinois in October, give me a shout.

Have a good day...see you at the races
