Haubstadt Race in August Poll

Somebody else suggested this poll.

Should Haubstadt Schedule a race in August due to the number of rainouts that the track has seen this year. Simple Yes or No will do.

Tommy are you listening??

Haubstadt need not schedule any makeup dates. Come up to Kokomo this coming Saturday, September 6 or October 16 and see the best racing in the state.

Well after this weekends rainout we have now lost three races at the class track this year and I would like to see some rescheduling happen the weekend of august 15 and after would be a good starting point but it is there choice on what to do there.

Please schedule a race down there so us in the southern half of the state don't have to drive 2 1/2 to 3 hours to "The Worlds Greatest Track" or "Gods Track" whatever you want to call it on a sunday. TSS is the most well pre-paired and one of the best tracks in the U.S.A and another race there is a good thing for any race fan. Both tracks are great but the more racing there is the better. :32:

If I was a promoter of a Sunday night track I would be very hesitant to schedule a race after school started.

It was for years.

You're right, thats the main reason I didn't go to haubstaudt very often. With them being on central time, it always made for too late a night before going to work on Monday.

Tom has always said when school starts his crowd drops off to much to run any shows other than the traditional Labor Day weekend races. He has added the $10,000 MSCS race in Sept. compared to past years. I think you can forget any thoughts of an August race. I raced there for 19 years and that has always been his thinking.

As you know yourself Pat, Bloomington attendence drops off alot after school starts due to high school football.

Not that it makes any diference to the dirt tracking crowd, but that is the same night as the USAC Salem double header. I'm planning on Salem after missing it for the last five years.

I think Helfrich should just go ahead and run the races he has left but maybe add to the purse to those, that was not paid out in the races that were a wash.:)

Re: Haubstadt Race in August Poll

I think that if you schedule now you are risking low car and crowd counts. For those of you that only go to tss, there are other tracks that provide excellent racing also.

I believe they know that there are other tracks out there that have great racing, but that's not the point being made. Also, as for car counts..what's the difference between rescheduling now and when they had these others scheduled? There were other tracks running those nights also!! Its just the drivers/car owners choice as to where they go. And as stated in another thread..you don't always have to have the largest car count to see spectacular racing. I live near Haubstadt, so that is always my first choice if they're racing, but if not then I try to go somewhere else, but it would be nice if they filled the void in August. And one date that would be out of the question to use as a rescheduled date would be August 29th, as the MSCS are @ Florence.

Re: Haubstadt Race in August Poll

And you can forget about August 22nd also. That is a $10,000 to win USAC sprint race at Lawrenceburg, a USAC silver crown race at Springfield, Ill., and TNT $10,000 to win sprint show at Lakeside.

And on August 15th you have USAC sprints & midgets at Salem, along with the Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield.

I believe they could have got the Memorial day weekend Mscs race in. Very surprized it was cancelled. I have been there when it has rained way more than it did that Sunday and they have raced. That would have cut your rain outs down to two.

So whats your point? Do you prepare the track, maintain the bathrooms, set up concessions? You are from Florida?

My point is I believe they could have raced, I could have swore I said that in the last point. I was there at 5pm and the track could have taken a lot more rain, thats all. No, my names not Tommy Helfrich. I dont do any of those things you mentioned, just my opinion, never said it was right, just my opinion. Sorry it got you so out of shape.

My point was I think it would be tough for a Promoter to make money.

The way I see it Bloomington, Gas City still are running. Lawrenceburg, Danville, Putnamville (is back) and Paragon are all still running. We GOT PLENTY OF PLACES TO RACE!!!

Chandler IN has 2 SCORA races scheduled for Aug 9 & 23 on Sunday nights so lets see how many people come out for these 2 shows.
