midget 200

I was helping my Dad get his car ready this morning for tonight and we got discussing the midget 200 at Anderson Speedway next weekend.I know it is USAC sanctioned now but he said he thought it was a regular points race to for the midgets. Is this a "special event" or a points race?I would think the car count will be effected if it is a points race. What do you guys think?I think the points chasers will show up if it is.If its a special event than I dont think many cars will show up like the 400 was last year.Looking for all opinions.:(

Good question!!...Last year the USAC/CRA event at C'stoga was a reg.pts. race for CRA!!...at the same time it was a (SE),no pts.,on Natl.sched!!...with a conflicting date (Silver Crown)mabe!!back East.....So my thought on this would be....Regional Non pts. event!!....Natl.series pts. paying event!!...$5,000 ta win....$500. ta start...$100. tow money!!.......thats all I got from the Entry form....Mabe rule book or USAC will confirm??.........

According to the press release and the Anderson Speedway website, it is a national points race. I am hoping for a good car count and great weather.:6:

I spoke with Jason Smith and Jason McCord at Bloomington and asked the same thing. It is definitely a National Points Race.

The way it was explained on the radio USAC made the decision.

Thanks for all the info. Now I just wonder. It went from 400 to 200 and a national points event and now to 100.But its still no doubt going to be $25 or so if you went to either of the 3 correct?I understand the wear and tear on the cars being a 200 lap race and national points on the line. But come on USAC give me and everyone else a ticket for a $2.50 tall boy at least.HaHa.Thats the best joke Ive told for awhile. Thanks again to everyone who answered my question.Hopefully they have a good turn out.

Grandstand tickets are $15.00 still a decent price for a usac show. Hopefully they will have enough cars for a good show

In looking at both the Anderson Speedway and USAC websites, they are both still showing a 200 lap race. Where did you hear that it had been dropped to 100 laps?

According to the article in the Anderson newspaper this morning, it still says that it is a 200 lap race. Of course, with that rag it could be anyone's guess.:3: I guess we will find out either tonight or on Saturday.

Still showing as 200 L on the USAC website

I talked to Rick Dawson, Owner of Anderson Speedway this evening and he confirmed that it remains a 200 lap, USAC National Points paying race. Who ever heard, thought they heard, had a dream or vision that it was 100 laps can now rest easy. THERE IS NO TRUTH TO THIS RUMOR according to officials at Anderson Speedway. I hope that the weather is good and the racing is great.:6:

VERY IMPORTANT........

I read some ad copy tonight that said it would be a 100 lap race - I asked people to double check and be sure -- it is a 200 lap races - I also said that later

Re: midget 200

I just hope that this rumor doesn't hurt the crowd for Saturday night. Rick is one the the good promoters and doesn't need this kind of a problem. And a 200 lap USAC National midget race for only $15 is a great deal. I hope people will turn out for a great night of racing and show support for one of the really good promoters.

Talked to the 67 twins last night - Henry and Daren - they are coming expecting 200 laps so I don't think it's been changed to 100.

Today's Indianapolis Star has a $5.00 off coupon for adult general admission in the Sports Section.

Sandy,

If you were at the Wednesday night USAC show, Rick Dawson offered a $10.00 discount for Saturday night when you present your ticket stub from the Wednesday night show. We had a little rain shower move through and it held up the show for a short period of time and Rick rewarded the folks who came and stayed.:6::8:
