Indiana Sprint Week

As ISW is on the horizon, do any of us care to speculate on car counts at any of the tracks? We are all used to 40-45 cars in the past. I don't want to sound negative, but more down to earth, the economy is bad so how will this affect car counts?

Sprint Week is Sprint Week there will still be a high car count.

Dan,

Good question. In my opinion this is the biggest series of races during the season. Yes, you do have races that pay more, but this series in a series sets the table for all of the racers to prove they not only belong but can compete. We have seen 50-60 cars check in during prior sprint week shows. I doubt you will see that this year. The USAC formula being what it is, only 32 cars are set to compete in the heat races after qualifying. Everyone else is sent to a qualifying race and most of them end up on the hauler for the trip home.

With that being said, the economy will effect the car count somewhat. Last year fewer teams from the West Coast hauled out to compete. I think this year will be the same. We have seen a few new teams the last couple of weeks so I might be all wrong here. I still think you will see the 40-45 car count at most of the tracks. The exceptions I would think would be Terre Haute and Haubstadt. Kamp is a toss up since it isn't a traditional sprint car track. I don't feel you need to have that many cars as a field of 30-35 still provides plenty of action.

I think that some of the lower budget teams will be affected but with car damage that is usually the case anyway. Torn up equipment is difficult to repair with racing 7 out of 9 nights for any one much less family owned and operated teams. I think that the car counts will be strong and I am sooooooooooooooooo looking forward to sprint week. This is my favorite time of year. July in Indiana!:6:

Looking forward to seeing the normal suspects on tour (I don't mean drivers either) and hope to meet some new folks again this year. Is tomorrow FRIDAY?:14:

Looks like a great list to me. I would expect to see 35-40 cars at the Burg. I hope it is more but I would be happy with 35 or more.

From everything I have read, the truckers cars will be driven by Shane Hmiel (10) and the 12 by Jeff Bland Jr. The Walker car (11) with Caleb Armstrong behind the wheel. Mike Spencer was at Bloomington a couple of weeks ago in the 73. Dene McAllan was in the Baldwin #5 lately and Keith Bloom Jr. in the 27KB. Also in the mix could be the 57 of Thomas Meseraull, 34 of AJ Anderson, 24 of Kyle Simon, 85 of Shane Hollingsworth, 12g of Chris Gurley. Also read on here that Hockett was going to be running ASCS so he wouldn't be here for sprint week. Like always, this is all subject to change without notice.:3::14:

The Cory Kruseman team usually heads back this way, and in looking at the SCHEDULE on his web site, he has nothing listed between 7/4 and 8/1. He started out running 3 cars last year for ISW. Hopefully they :31:back east this year as well.

Is Williams 16 yet? I think the Haubstadt car count will remain strong. It may not be as large as Indy area tracks but you have some IL guys and southern Indiana guys that come over. It will be fun to watch southern indiana guys like Cone and Cumming give the top ride guys a run for their $$$. :6:

Re: Indiana Sprint Week

Kruseman's 410 deal seems to have had some set backs. Henry Clarke went back east, Alex Schutte is committed to the western states midget series, and Austin Mero simply took a break (possibly low funding). Kruseman has been committed to staying closer to home this season it seems like. he has chosen to run his 360 and/or midget at ventura rather than travel with usac/cra. i don't know what he has planned for isw.

If your not there, Your Square! Just kiddin

I think you could be assured of a full feature field of *ALL CAPABLE WINNERS* something you only see at the biggest OUTLAW races.

Some will come, Some will stay away and some will come and WATCH and some will WISH THEY WERE HERE!

See you Friday, Next Wed and Thurs.

Chuck, who will probably drive up to KAMP to CAMP after Terre Haute :)

Chad now has a job in construction and working 6 days a week,10 hrs a day. He will not be able to race during the week day shows this year. Add to that the fact that we were not sure he was even racing anymore until almost time to start the season. we put a car together at the last minute without the normal winter freshenings. Engines, fuel pumps, mags and spark boxes were not fresh. we lost two engines and other part failures so far this season and decided to take the weeks off to freshen everything and come back after sprint weeks. our "new season" starts 7/25 at the burg.
