Hi this is Alex. My girl and I are ok. Didn't mean to scare anyone I only posted pics cuz a few freinds wanted to see how bad the truck and trailer were and e-mail wasn't working. We think we hydroplaned and jackknifed and rolled off into the ditch. It was Hwy. 65 or 56 about 20 miles north of Louisville, Ky. Needless to say, after this weekend I think were done for the year. I'm sorry again Steve for runnin into the back of you I didn't mean to do it. I hope I didn't tear your steering up or anything else... let me know if you need anything to get it fixed.

Alex -

Ugly pics!.

Just glad that you and the girlfriend are OK. Race cars, trucks, and trailers can be replaced....

While it may hurt the pocketbook for a while, just wait until you see the support that appears from fans and fellow racers.....

You have raised a great kid! I have gotten to know Alex thru the series and he is one of nicest young men we have racing with us. He will be sorely missed during his rebuilding period. I have no doubt that Alex will get back up and dust himself off and get back after it again..John Gurley

You just gained a fan by making a statement like that.

WHen the insurance adjuster gets there remember the sprintcar was in perfect shape before the truck accident. Nothing was wrong and you never hit anyone on the track. ;);)

Oh yeah, like I am the only one here that thought that up? :17: :3:

Yea alot of people have been telling me that.

Today Geico told me that they won't cover the trailer nor any of the contents inside because I didn't have a seperate policy for the trailer.

My agent told me anything that is being towed behind my truck is covered. Maybe every insurance company is different but I would definately push ithe issue.

Yea I highly recomend that everyone out there looks into their policy and checks it out. It sucks loosing all that stuff. It has taken me the last 5 years to save up enough money just to get where I was at. And now it is mostly all gone.

Alex I wouldn't give up without a fight...Like I said if you need a statement wrote up for the value of your truck let me know..I want to help in anyway I can..I know that my insurance company said to today that my trailer and up to 25k of the contents would be covered...I bumped it up after what happened to you...Man I hate hear that your going thru this it makes me sick to my gut..Joh Gurley.

Re: Hauler accident photos...

Ran into the same insurance problems several years ago. My agent told me everything was covered also. Was'nt until I turned in a claim that I found out it was covered as long as it was hooked to my truck also........... but only for property and liability coverage only. I suggest you all check with your agent so you don't finds out the hard way as Alex has. Have full coverage on trailer now on separate policy that is fairly cheap.

Re: Hauler accident photos...

After I thought about it I called our insurance company and put a seperate policy on my trailer and contents..man what a scam..Take our advice and check your own policies...

The only thing I tow these days is my travel trailer which has its own policy.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Weird thing is while I was going east on I64 we passed you guys around Corydon. The car was on an open trailer and we saw the bright yellow #2. Anyways best of luck with these hard times.

I am guessing the truck was a 05 or up Ford F150. I can't really tell because the body style was used from atleast 05 to 08.

Yeh, I'd be guessing too, it looks like a crewcab F150, which in my HMO, isn't the safest tow vehicle for a trailer of that size. I had an F150, one of the Nascar specials, pulled the trailer ok, and stopped ok, but you had to stay ahead of it, no sudden moves, or I was grabbin the trailer brakes, also had an E150 van, never really any issues, just short on HP, then I bought an F350, CC dually, PSD, I can say this, the trailer no longer intimidates the tow vehicle, it's just shy of 400k, not a "queen' by any means, but the air is cold, and the weight is a more equal split, finally just got tired of spending half the night, both ends, picking foam outa my butt! A seperate policy on your trailer is a good idea, and it's pretty cheap. I pay about $120 a year for mine. Good peace of mind.

Re: Hauler accident photos...

Yea its a 2006 F 150. I know it wasn't ideal for towing trailers but It's what I had to work with. I moved all my racing and personal stuff in that trailer from Phoenix to Santa Claus 3 months ago and thought it towed it pretty good. It ran fine up and down the mountains and stopped fine also.

As far as today I you prolly seen me driving back from the storage yard in Henryville where my trailer and truck was at. I had to go pick up all the stuff out of the trailer. Thank you to Brent Memmer for helping me. He took the day off and rented a u-haul trailer and drove with me out there to help me load that stuff up and and haul it back.

Since Iv'e only lived in Indiana for 3 months now I still really haven't made alot of freinds but the ones that I have made have been from the racing community and I can't thank all of you guys enough. The Memmer family has really helped me out a ton as well as Matt Humphreys. He has let me borrow one of his work trucks to get around till I can get a new one. Thank you guys soo much. It's been a rough 3 months but It'll get better I'm sure.

Hopefully I can meet some of you guys this coming week during ISW. And please learn from me and make sure that at the very least your trailer has insurance coverage. I ASUMED that I did and it has come around and bit me in the ass.
