Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
Alex
You and your family have become an important part of the SCORA family and I for one am honored to call you and your dad along with Steve, our friends. I had the privilege of getting to know your mom and sister, who by the way are your biggest fans, Sunday night at the hospital. The whole family and crew are down to earth and just super people. Get well soon and get yourself back at the races. We will all miss having you there during your recovery!! Sorry to hear about your uniform....;) John Gurley |
Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
Just talked to Steve Schaibley, Alex's car owner. He said that when they got him back home that his injuries were more extensive than what was originally diagnoised. He will go into surgery today. He is in a Jolliet Hospital. If the repair cannot be completed today, he may have to go back into surgery Thursday. All prayers and concerns are appreciated by the family. I will try to keep an update on his progress. Get well cards can be sent to: Alex Coonan, 308 Wormley Street, Ransom, Indiana 60470

Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
Alex, We have had some great races together this year so far and it sucks that we won't be able to do that for awhile. Hang in their man and may the Lord be your strength throughout your recovery. We are all praying for you and your family. God Bless You! J.T. Stapp:)

Hope the healing process goes well for the 2004 BMARA RoY! Was neat to read of recent good runs in the steel block sprint car club for the Coonan family. Hated to read of this injury.

Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
I just got off the phone with Alex's car owner Steve Schaibley and he gave me an update on Alex's condition. The surgeries all went great and Alex has even stood up for a few minutes. That after two surgeries is amazing in itself. He is doing well and looks forward to getting home. The Coonan family wants to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.Hopefully I'll be able to talk to Alex soon and I'll get everyone up to speed. Thanks again John Gurley:6:

Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
hey everybody, this is alex on my sister's iow account. I want to thank everybody for their prayers and concerns for my healing... The doc says no more racecars for me, but i should be out of the hospital after a few more days of physical therapy. I am able to walk and sit up all on my own, just very painful due to the scars on my back and my neck but everything is looking postiive. Once again, thanks for your prayers and concerns!!!!!

Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
Hey everybody, this is Alex's sister Amanda, and I just wanted to thank you on behalf of my whole family, for all your thoughts, prayers, and calls while our family is going through this tough time. While in the hospital, I read the posts to Alex just about every day, and that really cheered him up to hear from you all. He is up and walking around every day and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He's been a trooper through it all. Hope to see you all soon, good luck in your racing efforts! Thanks again. :22:

I know from my perspective that Alex's condition was much more important to the fans than an interview with the winner of the event. Alex put on one hell of a show that day and I will never forget that last lap battle that left him injured. I still think at that moment the interview should be done after he out of the car and at least in the ambulance on his way to the hospital. Just my .02... Jason |

Any word on alex's condition? Hopefully his recovery is coming along well!

Re: thoughts and prayers for Alex Coonan
Thanks for wondering about Alex!
He is doing great! He went back to school (Northern Illinois University) in August after his crash. He is still studying Mechanical Engineering. He is just about 85% back to normal! It was an amazing recovery and he worked very hard to get back to where he is now! I don't believe we will see Alex racing again, but I'm sure we'll be out to see some racing!! Thanks again for asking! :22: Amanda Coonan |
