Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
We could not come to a agreement for the 2008 racing season with the fair board and we will not be back to promote the track in 2008. We would like to thank all the racers and fans that have supported us the past two years. We were blessed with some of the best racing talent in the midwest at our track week in and week out. We have made so many friends with drivers and fans and we will miss seeing you every week. We were also blessed with a outstanding staff who did a professional job at every race, we thank you all. We would like to wish Phil Richardson the new promoter good luck in 2008. We would like to thank all the sprint car drivers and fans that came out and supported us this year you guys and gals were awesome and we were really looking forward to the Bell Helmet Shootout Series in 2008, I think it would have been some of the best sprint car racing in the midwest. A very special thank you to Joe Chambers and Crew for there help. Joe you have become a good friend and great supporter of the track and I will miss giving you a hard time. Good luck to all of you in 2008.

W T F??????????????? Bill, sorry to see you go. Hope that does not say farewell to the non wing sprints as well. Let me guess, we got a nother "fender only" promoter. So sad.... |
Re: Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
Bill, do you happen to have contact information for Phil Richardson so that I may contact him regarding his plans for 2008?

Re: Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
Bill & Jean; Thank you for promoting sprint car racing at VCS. The Bell Helmet Shootout was an unqualified success. I am sorry that you were not given the opportunity to continue in 2008. May the new promoter learn from what you have started there and continue with the sprint car shows. Best of luck in whatever you do. Thanks again!:applaud::thumb:

Re: Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
Phil promoted the track back in the 90's
He is the brainchild behind one of the more popular Modified races around, the "David Richardson" Memorial. |

Re: Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
If you knew anything about the track, UMP Modifieds have been the main class at Vermilion County since 1989
Sprints have just been ran as a special event. Besides, has anyone even seen the new guys plan yet? Not once has there been a mention of NOT running sprint cars. Lets wait and see. |
Re: Vermilion County Speedway Has A New Promoter For 2008
Bill & Jean Nelson will be sadly missed. Their honesty, integrety and genuine concern for the racers, fans and staff are a rare commodity.
Many people were amazed with the consistantly high sprint car counts they were able to get with such a modest payout. The sprint car counts were in the 40's and 50's for the majority of the Bell Helmet Shootout Series. One must ask, why did so many sprinters decide to support the Vermilion Co. Speedway? That question was ask of me many times as I worked over 40 shows at many tracks through-out the Midwest this year. My answer: I honestly believe it is the way Bill & Jean treated the racers. Bill personally going from trailer to trailer to thank the racers for coming. Jean sending a thank you card to the racers following the race. Their efforts to find sponsors for givaways during the drivers meeting. And probably most of all, their willingness to listen to the drivers concerns and suggestions. I also have to give a lot of credit to Steve Thomas, Racing Director for Bell Helmets for his support of sprint car racing, not only at Vermilion Co Speedway, but in all of the ways he contributes to our sport. I have to agree with some of the previous posts. I would love to see Bill & Jean Nelson team up with the Bob Sargeant / Kenny Schrader team to take over as promoters of the Terre Haute Action Track. Best wishes to Bill & Jean in whatever endeavors they pursue. Thank you for your efforts, hard work and friendship. :checkered: Joe Chambers Official Push Trucks |

USAC is on the 2008 schedule at Brownstown, and last I heard we were working on an MSCS date as well
