A lofty goal if I say so myself. In a time and era when dirt tracks are closing left and right I would think that racers and fans might appreciate this effort. In my opinion the sprint car counts have left something to be desired this year. Obviously, part of the reason is VCS. The Burg is paying more than VCS now. I talked to an owner last week during the KISS race at the Burg and asked why they were there that night and not at VCS as usual. They stated that they had finished XXX the week before and ONLY got XXX dollars. What they got was the exact amount that they get at VCS for that finish. They came to The Burg that night because KISS was paying a little more. There are three $10,000 to win races at the Burg this year, drivers will come for that and then go elsewhere for a regular show. Shouldn't owners and drivers TRY a little harder to TRY AND SUPPORT THE PROMOTORS THAT ARE TRYING TO SUPPORT THEM with a higher payout or do you shun that promotor during the majority of his weekly shows cause another track is 10 miles closer or whatever the reasons are? That was the point of my first post . . . What are the reasons? Knowing the reasons can only promote change, which can only serve to improve the environment for racers and fans. The city and promotor at Lawrenceburg have made a HUGE commitment to the track here. I only wished to start some dialogue as to why so many are making the choice to go to VCS. It just seems that some owners and drivers are avoiding The Burg . . . as an example the KISS race in Bloomington had 49 cars last night and I think the KISS race last week at The Burg had 29 cars. Please indulge me. ---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:37 PM ---------- Originally Posted by Jerry Shaw: My post wasn't about defending anyone or tearing anyone down, just wondered what peoples reasons are. JMHO though. |

Great, another conflict....VCS double features and Tri-State KISS/MSCS same day, June 6th!

Re: Roll call for VCS Saturday
The problem with running a double feature next week is the race Haubstadt. I heard 9 out of 20 cars will be going. After talking to a few of the driver I am to believe that Williams will be going to Haubstadt along with Bland Truckers Cone Cummins Riggs most likely Stanbrough. It is MY OPINION that they should hold off on the sprint car feature until the Illinois SprintWeek which is only 3 weeks away. Next week being Haubstadt and in 2 week make up Terre Haute
|
Re: Roll call for VCS Saturday
thats what racing is about, making choices, go to danville win both features $3000.00 tri-state $3000.00 can't blame vcs for making double features next week, you either have the cars come back or the ones that don't thats money they don't have to pay out its a win , win decision by the track.
|
Re: Roll call for VCS Saturday
If you win both features at Danville that's $2,800....anyway what is wrong with tracks working with each other and not causing drivers/owners to make those decisions...June 9th, Illinois Sprint Week at Danville would have been a good date for double features...that way if you are VCS you probably get all 32 cars back!!

Re: Roll call for VCS Saturday
I say Truckers will come back to VCS. They run a weekly show and I say Mr. Tapy will honor them and because they are not in a point chase for KISS.
