Okay, don't know how to talk about this. First of all, Hines is leading with two laps to go and is followed by Kuhn, Swindell, Coons, Ehrgott, Jones, East, Clarke, Sweet and Hagen. We have had a bad wreck on the track in turn 4. Davey Ray got upside down and tumbled only to be hit by Chad McDaniel who had no where to go. Both men have been taken to the Knoxville Hospital.Another red has been thrown on the restart forChad Boat.who barrel-rolled into turn one. He is walking away from the wreck. I think he and another car came together.Hines WINS! followed by Coons, Kuhn, Jones, Ehrgott, East, Whitt, Sweet, Smith, Hagen.

from DaveyRay.com

Davey was involved in a crash last night at Knoxville Raceway. He flipped several times and was then struck by another car. Davey was taken to the hospital and later released with a broken knee cap. We are all just very sad to hear of the loss of Chad McDaniel. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Re: Any Knoxville Updates?

I can't see the logic of running a semi when there were only 19 cars. Why draw further attention to the short field by running an absurd B-main that eliminates no one? If they wanted to run an "extra" race for the fans, why not just take the top 3 out of each heat, give them their "times back", and run a 6 car dash?

SUPERDUKE 5/31/09 9:40 AM

Re: Any Knoxville Updates?

You talk about the short field of cars! How bout the small crowd? Bout 250 fri. And 1200 t0 1500 sat! Its going to get worse! What a great pass by swindel last corner last lap!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And sammy almost pulled it off in the sprint main!:22:

Would they get more cars if they ran it at a smaller track?

Re: Any Knoxville Updates?

I wonder do you guys think half miles are too big for Sprints and Midgets that run without a wing. Supposedly the reason the outlaws went with wings is that too many cars were getting destroyed. A wing definitely softens a roll over (most of the time) by absorbing energy. Of course there have been drivers hurt with a wing but in the big picture guys seem to survive better. A wing makes a car more stable. Maybe I'm wrong but it's just a thought.

hell no! We have raced midgets and sprints on miles and 1/2miles paved and dirt since the 40s! Things happen at any size track! I've seen 3 die in midgets at the speed drome on a 1/5 mile flat track! And they also die in wing sprint cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Any Knoxville Updates?

I just thought if they ran this at a smaller track they might get more cars, this has nothing to do with the tragedy. Guys that run for points like Badger can't take the chance to run 2 nights on a big track cause if they hurt a motor it could end the season for them.
