Truckers car

Who's running the Truckers cars and are they going to make the Pennsylvania trip?

Yea Spridge or anyone else, the Eastern Swing is only a week away, can ya give us an idea of who all is coming. I'll be happy with 15 :23:

Re: Truckers car

I talked to Kevin Miller the other day about this.

Jeff, Pine....you guys need to get with your buddies and get some sort of Wagsbucks-type deal together for this trip. I've talked to quite a few guys who want to come, but are still undecided simply because of the costs to travel with no tow money being offered. The other problem is sitting on a Friday night when they could be racing back in Indiana. I know some have thought of racing three nights and returning to Indiana for Friday.

From what I've heard, I think you can count on:
2B Darland
7 Clauson
9 Sweet
13 Hockett
17 Windom
20 Levi
21 Hines
29 Kaeding
30 Boat
37 Wise
67 Hagen
67K Whitt
67x Clarke
69 Coons
71 Gardner
81 Ballou

I don't think the Trucker's cars are going. Hunter is likely out. Nic Faas could use some sponsorship, Pine! Same with Bland. Not sure about a Pace or Hendrick or Rose. Pretty sure Walker won't be running his 11 car, just helping Windom. Not a bad field, but could definitely be aided by a few of these guys...

That was the plan, but they have recently reconsidered and are not planning to go anymore.

I got a message from Jonathon Vennard yesterday stating the following..

May 29 thru May 31 plans...Back to the dirt, I'll be driving the Trucker's 24 Hr. Road Service #12 car for three nights of action at Bloomington on Friday, most likely Danville on Saturday, and Kokomo Sunday.

Re: Truckers car

No Jeff Bland Jr. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT.

That's a pretty stout field, for 16 cars. I seen on another board that Jessica Zemken is at least running the Grove. And I wouldn't expect many/if any PA cars to take the wing off. SOOOOOO we'll see what happen's.

Spridge, you know I would do whatever I could to get ALL these guys' in here. I'm working on some things to try to help Robert out. It sux being poor:3:.

I think USAC should do, whatever they have to do, to get as many cars here as possible.

Oh well, it is what it is and I'm ready....:23:

Edit: let me rephrase that, USAC and the PROMOTERS should do what they have to do, to get, whoever wants to run the Eastern Swing, to PA.

According to this you can add Kevin Swindell to the #1 JJ Yeley racing car.

That's 6 or 7 less than last year. I can't believe USAC won't give these guys a little help getting out East. They might as well change that "C" in USAC to mean "Company"

Spridge, kinda late for us to start a travel fund. However, I do want to offer the parking lot on the east side of my bowling center (towards Kohl's Dept store) to any teams that want to stay there all week just like we've done in the past. Hopefully that will help the teams/drivers that have motorhomes and don't need hotel rooms. You know our location is right in the heart of everything anyone would ever need in Mechanicsburg. The car wash, grocery, auto parts store, Target, Kohl's & restaurants are all within walking distance. Any team that wants to stay at the bowl can contact me at (717) 766-7601 or at abcwestbowl@aol.com during the day this week to make arrangements.

I'll also offer any USAC driver, owner or crew member who comes in Friday afternoon (Noon to 5 PM) 3 free games of bowling and shoe rental at no charge. All they have to do is show my counter person their USAC membership card. Hopefully that will help everyone kill some time till they have to head to Western PA on Saturday. I also want to remind everyone that the beers cold & cheap at the bowl. I run a recessionary beer special with a different draft on special everyday & 12oz Natural Light or Natural Ice bottles are only $1.00 everyday from open to close!

I look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Just got an email from Jonathan Vennard. He said he will be driving the Trucker's 24 hr. Road Service #12 this coming weekend at Bloomington, Danville, and Kokomo.
It will be good to see Jonathan back racing the dirt again. Good luck and have fun!

Re: Truckers car

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that more people need to do something like Jeff Kohler is doing or nonwing sprint car racing (and wing for that matter) will continue to see smaller and smaller fields at most races. I just wish I was smart enough to come up with a brilliant plan. One thing I remember from the late 1960s at the Sun Bowl (I think that was its name) in El Paso, Texas was that a collection was taken up from the grandstand crowd any time someone crashed. While the amount was probably rather small, especially if there were several crashes that night, I am sure that it helped. While the racing community has pitched in when someone gets hurt, I don't remember seeing anything like a "crash fund" for a long time.

We all have one or more favorite drivers. If promoters would figure out how to let a group of fans prepay a driver's pit pass for a race, a few races, or a year, I think that would help. I am sure that there are any number of affordable things which a group could do which would help. I hope that some of us on this board can come up with ways to help support teams and drivers that is affordable to the average fan.

Is this REALLY shocking to anyone? Wasn't the eastern swing Stabb's doing? Maybe USAC is killing it off politically but not offering support/tow money.......

Are you kidding me? Why would you even say something so ridiculous?

Factually, the purses are actually stronger on the Eastern Swing this year than before. They have also tried to secure more tow money while exploring options to fill the Friday gap, which has been there each year.

The Eastern Swing is great for USAC and its teams. The crowds are good, the tracks are willing to pay decent money, and there are good tracks there to hit....I personally am not a big fan of Big Diamond and would really like to see something on Friday, so hopefully they can keep working on it and make the trip even better.

This might be the stupidest thing I've read in quite some time. It amazes me how some of these self proclaimed "experts" know so little.

That is a pretty serious accusation. Especially considering that it is being leveled at the organization that you'll be asking for free passes, during Midget Week and Sprint Week.

Just seen on the Grove board, Friday night after the 358 feature the Grove is going to open the track to whomever wants to take the wing off for practice. The only two names I've seen so far are Doug Esh in the Trone Outdoor Advertising #39 and Cody Darrah #89. Hopefully there will be couple more top teams trying it. We'll see.....

Sorry I didn't see David's post until after I posted here...

We will stop by. I personally feel 16 traveling teams isn't too bad, what is needed is a little bit of local participation. I am ready for next week.

We don't ask them for squat. Get the facts right.

Here's an idea for the haters....... get an idea for your own website and then build it and run it. Then go ask. Most they tell you is no.

My apologies to the originator of the post for my part in the derail. Can it get on track?
