I was just going to post about the weather. It shows thunderstorms in that area.
Last week alot of the drivers went to Danville instead of Ky.
Maybe they will head for Kokomo tonight thinking the chance of rain is only 30 %
instead of 60 %

Well, the sun is out just as Coach stated! I've been looking at several radars, and nothing of any great caliber should hit Haubstadt. Also as Coach said, some rain won't hurt TSS! The night before the last MSCS race at TSS we got nearly 3 inches of rain and after the races, most drivers stated that the track was the best they'd every seen. If you don't come, you'll miss a great show!!

You guys close to the track keep us updated. I'll make a decision around 1 o'clock.

Re: Weather at Haubstadt

Glad I made the decision to not go. Was about 10 miles out of town and called AERO who was at Kokomo so I figured the rain would scare some of the teams away so I turned around. Oh well KISS race in two weeks.

I was at Haubstadt all day and it lightly rained for about 2 hours.. Most of the heavy weather missed us and drivers were pullin in!! Then we were told it had been called :((( around 3:30.. As i was leaving the track it completly stopped raining and i saw SUN poking through.. Its 6 now and it hasn't rained since... Tommy's magic????

Tommys magic is with the track......not the amount of fans in the stands!

I just didnt understand why they called it so early.. And fans kinda are a big part of the race.. Without them there is no race.. jmo

Flatrightrear 5/24/09 8:29 PM

Re: Weather at Haubstadt

And without enough fans present there is no profit. The excellent chance for more rain would've killed the crowd. Tom

sprintgal 5/24/09 8:38 PM

I live 10 minutes from the track and it has been raining off and on since he called it. As much as I hate it, Tommy made the right call.

When the weather is iffy put yourselves in the promoter's shoes. Are you (plural you, folks) willing to risk a possibly huge loss of income, coupled with a considerable expense? Me, neither. Promoters are gamblers and they know when to fold 'em. Those who don't soon become ex-promoters. We are blessed here with some pretty fair country gamblers. Tommy is only one of them.

Hurry back, Shortbus! Missed your handsome smiling face last Friday at Bloomington. Did see Bob Clauson so that helped. :32:

Re: Weather at Haubstadt

I am quite happy they called it when they did. I live something like 240 miles from the track and that call let me get home in good time this evening. When I left about 4:15 it was still coming down lightly. I absolutely think they made the right decision.
