Attention ALL Midget Car Owners

The Rumble Series has had numerous questions in regard to drivers wanting to enter Ft. Wayne, but are looking for a ride. Last year I had a Busch Series regular call looking for a good ride, and this year we have an Indy Car Series driver that is interested in running. Many sprint and midget regulars have asked about rides.

It would be good to know of car owners that may be interested in talking about fielding a car for the event coming up December 28, and 29. You may have noticed a few drivers who have posted online about open rides.

Kenyon Cars, Ford Focus and full midgets are allowed to run this special event. USAC membership not required. Older midgets have really done well in Ft. Wayne. We have had a couple older cars sell at Ft. Wayne because it opens up a market for them to once again compete.

When drivers call, this year maybe we will have a few more answers.

Ed Carpenter maybe? I've heard him say he was interested in sprints and midgets in the IndyCar off season.

I have THREE cars available for these tourist attraction drivers. $10,000-20,000 rental for each car for the two nights. All three come with a special loge, limo service, catering, Pinkerton security guards and deluxe bank roping for ur pit. This won't last. Hurry.

Now that is funny. If you were to luck into getting Erin to drive for you I will personally volunteer, no wait, I will pay to be one of her guards. It would be worth filing bankruptcy to have that job. :kookoo2:

Re: Attention ALL Midget Car Owners

Don,

What if they are not so much of a "tourist attraction", but are simply looking to race? I have had guys like Caleb Griffith...many years ago keep asking on our forum about rides... no one responded...and now I see he is making a name for himself as a driver at Fremont.

I have a list of drivers who would not fall into the category you mentioned, but are ready to run. This is mostly about them, plus it is interesting to know where a few cars gathering dust may be pressed into action.

The Munchkin was pulled out of the back of a garage, dusted off, and won even after needing an engine overhaul a few years ago.

Uh oh...I brought that up again.....

Here's what I'm thinkin regarding these non-celebrity drivers. First of all I'll cut the price in half. Secondly, I'll keep the limo, catering, security guards etc in the deal but the fancy bank roping around the pit will be replaced by Ace Hardware brand yellow caution tape:crying:. Sorry bout that, but I have to cut expenses somewhere.

I'll go $5,000 each for my cars. Sorry Don- I am using that Wal-mart mentality in the free market again.:emote20:

To use the Walmart mentality that price would have to be $4999.97 (can't have a price end in a 0 or a 9)

And Sean, there is where, IMO, the IRL is dropping the ball, as it were.:headbang:

Let their stars run at a short track every now and then. But then, I guess the IRL doesn't want that type of fan any more. Oh well. Their loss.

I would seriously doubt that the IRL has anything to do with it. Maybe the contract with her team? To blame them for that is just downright stupid. Remember when Gibbs did this for a while after Tony scrambled his brains at the Chili Bowl? NASCAR didn't say he couldn't run, Gibbs did.

Also might be in the contract with the sponsors. They don't like to see their drivers among the walking wounded while a replacement driver is racing in the back of the pack. Not good for TV. JMO

Like she would need a replacement driver to that for her or her team.

The right rear indoor tire is $165, but you should ask Don Kenyon.

Here is what we posted earlier in regard to tires:

It has been announced today that Hoosier Tire will continue to manufacture the special Indoor tire that they have produced since the nineteen eighties. The tire company does not want to keep an over supply of the special tire in stock, so advance orders are being taken by Hoosier Tire distributor Don Kenyon until November 16, 2007. Teams should call Don at his DK Promotions office at 765-482-4273 to order the Indoor tires prior to this date. Teams should call Don with any and all questions in regard to tires.

The order deadline will not mean that these tires will not totally be available after November 16. It just means you will have an easier time getting them from Don in advance. That way you know you have them for sure.

Re: Attention ALL Midget Car Owners

I am going to post this on another topic/thread also.

The Indy DownForce Fan Club is interested in sponsoring an entry by Kevin Olson of midget racing fame, and current IMS Radio Network pit reporter. Kevin would drive at least one day, and PERHAPS coach a current Indy Car Series driver on driving the Ft. Wayne Indoor event.

I have suggested Kevin be a part of the effort because of his excellent record of 82 major midget car wins, including indoor wins at the Rockford MetroCentre in 1987, and the Rosemont Horizon in 1988. He has had numerous top 3 finishes indoors. If you know of a full midget car that may be open for this event, and talking more about it, e-mail me a tbracefest@aol.com

View his entrire record from Kevin Eckerts impressive openwheeltimes.com driver profile section:
