Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Will anybody be able to post updates during second round qualifying. Should be an exciting bump session.

Thanks in advance!

Saturday's race is going to be awesome!!!

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Yeah, I'll post a couple. Sorry about yesterday...I got caught up in the flurry of activity and never got back to updating that post. The qualifying line never did die down yesterday!!!

I'm saying bump speed will be an average under 11.9!

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

They had 40 cars take times and I hear there are a few more. We may have 10 cars missing the show this year. It's been a long time since the field has been this strong. Usually, the last row of cars are "field fillers" and are lapped every 5 or 6 laps. This years field is very deep! Should be an awesome race on Sunday.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Make it 47 total entries. Vennard has shown up today and is running 11.6s in practice. Mark hall is here now and down under 11.9. Also jeff bloom has entered his back-up car with Stan Butler driving! Should be a great bump day as just about everybody is faster than yesterday.

Thanks for the update! Sounds like we have potential for some big time drama during the final moments of qualifying.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Only brad armstrong and dave saxer are not here. Armstrong had engine trouble all day yesterday and saxer stuck it in the fence early yesterday. Practice is over...we're just waitin til 1:30 when qualifying opens.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

#07 Jeffrey Banyas, North Olmsted, OH - is on the bubble with a time of: 48.257.

Let's see which of these drivers can bumb their way into the 33 car field:

34 42h Adam Schuyler Yorktown 48.958 3.687
35 46 Jim Swain Union City, MI 49.234 3.963
36 71k Geoff Kaiser Ft. Wayne 49.266 3.995
37 2t Tom Tolbert Columbus, OH 49.825 4.554
38 11 Tom Paterson Argos 50.313 5.042
39 10 Ron Koehler South Bend 50.652 5.381
40 1 Ed Lute Columbus, OH 54.039 8.768
Plus: Mark Hall, Geoff Kaiser, EJ Calloway, Stan Butler and Jonathan Vennard

Hoosier Highbanks 5/22/09 1:39 PM

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

My prediction is Geoff Kaiser will make the field and it sounds like Vennard is fast. Kaiser is the former holder of the wing track record so he knows how to get around Anderson.

This si going to be an awsome bump day! At 11.9 would equal a total time of 47.6 seconds. That means you think (right now) 26 27 Brian Gerster Fishers 47.610 2.339 is your bubble man. Only reason I have the calculations is because i was thinking the same thing :2:

16 07 Ryan Litt London Ont Canada 46.447 1.176
17 5H Brandon Whited Richmond 46.604 1.333
18 42 Jason Blonde Litchfield, MI 46.659 1.388
19 91L Shane Butler Bushnell, FL 46.695 1.424
20 26 Jeff Bloom Bangor, MI 47.124 1.853
21 63 Rex Norris, III Knightstown 47.144 1.873
22 7 Tim Cox Park City, IL 47.229 1.958
23 7 Chet Fillip Indianapolis 47.271 2.000
24 46 Rus Gamester Peru 47.273 2.002
25 37 Mike Koss Port Charlotte, FL 47.480 2.209
26 27 Brian Gerster Fishers 47.610 2.339
27 59 Ryan Hamilton Indianapolis 47.678 2.407
28 51 Brent Berry Fountaintown 47.723 2.452
29 99 Sondi Eden Crawfordsville 47.805 2.534
30 24 Bill Tyler Parma, MI 47.992 2.721
31 18 Jim Sheets Anderson 48.155 2.884
32 99 Kevin Feeney Oxford, MI 48.161 2.890
33 07 Jeffrey Banyas North Olmsted, OH 48.257 2.986
34 42h Adam Schuyler Yorktown 48.958 3.687
35 46 Jim Swain Union City, MI 49.234 3.963
36 71k Geoff Kaiser Ft. Wayne 49.266 3.995
37 2t Tom Tolbert Columbus, OH 49.825 4.554
38 11 Tom Paterson Argos 50.313 5.042
39 10 Ron Koehler South Bend 50.652 5.381
40 1 Ed Lute Columbus, OH 54.039 8.768

---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:42 PM ----------

Does anyone have any insight as to why there are so many more cars tring to get into this year field? As someone previously said, normally the last row or 2 is nothing but fillers. This years field is very very strong.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Vennard is in with a time of 47.145. That puts him 22nd, right behind rex norris. Tom Tolbert just waved off a run that was not fast enough. Feeney on the bubble.

Rex norris a guy that had a great run last year, and is now backing it up with a solid effort

Kirk Spridgeon 5/22/09 1:55 PM

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Banyas gets back in at 20th overall with a time of 46.934. Very good run for him. Sheets now on the bubble as the last car with an average in the 12s.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

I think the reason there are more is that there are more of the winged guys that typically are the types to run the Little 500 and they probably picked up a few more because they could run 2 races.

Kirk Spridgeon 5/22/09 2:04 PM

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Calloway is too slow on his first try. Tolbert still not good enough on his second try, so he's done. Jason Bradford is in the 47 car today but can do no better than 12.4.

Believe it's three attempts on day one and two on day two.

Kirk Spridgeon 5/22/09 2:09 PM

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Ed Lute well off the pace too. The engine is running better today though. Calloway is done now too...his car looked good but he just never ran it off in the corner at all.

Lute is done too. 3 guys on the trailer. 9 left to give it a try. It's about to pick up.

Stan Butler bumps in with a time of 47.533. That puts bill tyler on the bubble. Butler is now 28th. Ron Koehler had a good first lap but got tight and stayed tight his second run so he's done. Schuyler keeps going out but is extremely tight on his warm up laps.

Now swain bumps in but only at 47.945. He's on the bubble. Both sheets and kaiser now make three lap runs before waving off. Just not quite fast enough. Paterson brushes the wall just as he takes the green. Wave off.

swain bumps in but only at 47.945. that is 11.98625 seconds per lap!

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

Sheets final run is a 48.224. Not good enough. He makes the fifth one done. Bradford comes up short so we've got six left. His time was 49.770.

Re: Little 500 Second Round Qualifying Updates

A little lull in the action here. Swain still on the bubble. Kevin Feeney, Bill Tyler, Mark Hall and Adam Schuyler who is about to push off all have 2 chances left. Geoff Kaiser and Tom Paterson down to one shot.

Schuyler bails before the green. Paterson takes green and promptly spins out, ending his day. And then there were five...

Schuyler was still pushin like a dump truck so he tried to pitch it in and slapped the wall. I'm sure he's got quite a bit of damage, so he's likely done...

Geoff Kaiser's last try results in a 48.804. He'll call it a day too. Down to 3.

Bill Tyler rolls to the infield. Looks like he'll be the first to give it a go. All three of these guys have two attempts.

Yep Feeney is done. Mark Hall tries twice and had a fastest lap of 11.942 but not good enough overall. Looks like row eleven will be Ryan Hamilton, Brent Berry, and Sondi Eden.
