Light out at Truckers

One of the moderators of this board(the big one) just called and told me that Jimmy Light has quit the truckers ride and Mesurall will be in just for THAT, no word on a replacement beyond that

The trend continues.....

Hopefully one day these guys can find a couple of drivers and put all of their time and money spent to good use!

How much Money do you think Hmiel and Light brought to the table to get these rides?

Man, I just don't get what the deal is with that team and drivers. Nobody seems to work for long in the seat. I'm glad they have car(s), but you don't get chemistry if the seat is always changing.

I dont think Roger is a buy-a-ride owner, one of the few that arent.

SpRiNtBeBe 5/20/09 3:41 PM

Re: Light out at Truckers

depends on what you call a buy a ride since almost every driver has to pay some money up front to get that ride

Ask T-Mez how much he gave them last year for the car and you would see that it is a rent a ride basically since no one is in the car more than 20-30 shows max.

Best of luck to both Jimmy and Truckers. Sad to see it did not work out... but hope to see both end up with great outcomes in the long-term.

A lil FYI for you, Pal, MY dad has'nt owned a sprint car for 6 yrs. now , and back iun the winter when I saw yhat Hagen had switched rides I coaxed Hud in to calling Roger and he told him it would take no less than 10,000 to get in the car. I'm not knocking it, because these things are expensive , have you ever owned one? much less two!!:31:

I had heard 15,000 plus...which is actually cheap, but still, not a free ride

The drivers are not the issue here. Just ask them. Foyt couldn't drive those things. Try changing whose toolboxes are at the track.

Oh great, Donnie. You've just insulted about every race fan that posts opinions here. Good job. And this is coming from someone that has been watching Gentrys race since about 1970 when Leon was racing at Paragon.

Didn't offend me...I understood who you were referring to. This is supposed to be a site where people who all love the same sport get together and discuss it...lets forget about the hostility.

I'm 44 and I can't remember a time when there wasn't a Gentry family racing team. Other than Hofmanns, I can't think of any that have been around longer.

Why take a shot at a guy like that??? I commend the Gentrys for unloading their "$hit box" every week since well before I was born. They've earned my respect, but i guess not everyones? Dont think i'm their blood brother or something like that, they tried to beat me with a wrench earlier in my career. They are racers to the bone. They sacrifice more than most will ever comprehend just to get to the track. For that, they have my respect and always will. Anyone owner, driver, or crew member that sticks it out in this sport for that period of time has earned respect. All the broke dic%s out there with their $hit box's deserve our gratitude for what they do everyweek. I'm done with my rant, i'm sorry in advance.

poop box? i have seen and drove his car. far from a POOP Box i would say.

How in the world did this post about Jimmy leaving the Trucker turn in a bashing on the Gentry's? They are a great group of Good ol' boys doing what they love to do, DRIVER SPRINT CARS. The entired Gentry family is invalved in racing and has been for about 200 years.lol

Actually since some of you have got your panties in a bunch, I wasn't referring to Leon Gentry, or the Gentrys in any way shape or form.Don't know these people at all other than seeing them race for which I am glad for along with "most" others. So maybe next time before people "assume", know what that spells? that I am taking a shot at someone they should get their facts somewhat straight.Nuff said.
