From Dirtfan Dan....

1st heat: C.Windom, K. Cummins, B. Short, R. williams Jr.

2nd heat: N. Faas, Hud!!!, J. Coons, K. Gross, Bub Cummings

2nd heat, 3 cars got together, C. Briscoe, D. Darland, and D. Gardner. The Demon may have some front end damage, other 2 cars looked okay.

Intermission as of 9:50 p.m.

---------- Post added at 10:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:54 PM ----------

Her's a bit more news. Red flag on lap 3. K. Wissmiller fliped, he's okay. Dave Darland and one other car went to the work area. As Dan and I were talking, Dave's car was pushed back to the track.

Dan says it's about lap 3 and C. Windom leads.

And time now for the :23:

---------- Post added at 10:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:54 PM ----------

We have a winner.

Chris Windom wins over Robert Ballou, Kyle Cummins, Brady Short and maybe Dickie Gaines. The dirtfan got a little hazy there as it must have been fairly crowded.

Dan also says that Nic Faas had this one in the bag before his engine went kaplooey!!! (stole that from David Hobbs).

And Susan, he also said that Dave struggled, maybe didn't even crack the top 10. Sorry, kid.

Very disappointed in the car count!!!! It was a good feature with Ballou chasing Windom the last few laps.

No offense meant here BUT the car count was low ,hoped for a better turnout and to me Florence just isn't a great sprint car track....Florence is a great Late Model track ..Sprints belong on a track that caters to there type of racing e.g. Lawrenceburg , Eldora, KC . Thanks to ALL the sprint car teams that showed up and made the show for us fans.....

I know of several teams that were going to make the trip to Florence, but the RADAR scared them away to Danville. But you know what, glad to of had the cars that came and if any of them run the 100% of the schedule they get the 50 bonus points at the end of the year.

I'm not sure I agree here. The first two MSCS races they held at Florence (last night was the 3rd) had over 40 cars and they were both great shows and were well attended. The 2nd show (Ballou won it) was some of the best sprint car racing I've seen. Last night was very racy, as well. Some were running the wall, some using the cushion for a curb and some the bottom. The race for the top four was a fierce battle and very entertaining. I say Florence is a great sprint car track. I will agree that Florence is not a "Sprint Car" track, in that they don't run there very often at all, and the track is definitely not in "Sprint Car" country. Kentucky is definitely a "fendered" state! So it is a little bit harder to draw cars there. However, I also believe the timing of weather (heavy rain storm about and hour and a half, or so, before hot laps) and the dismal forecast, hurt both the car count and the crowd. The crowd was decent but, not like last years. I hope it was, overall, a profitable night for the promotor and we can't wait to run there again!

Re: Florence updates!

I was there, I wasn't going to go but calling the track at 430 the message said they were a go. Where I work (Roughly Kings Island) Had only a few sprinkles all day, Going south the 40 miles I ran thru places that had had rain and others that haddnt, I get to the track and theres litterally a river running down the entry road. IM kinda affraid to park due to soft ground but found a spot.

Honestly, They started hotlaping about 730 and had the sprint feature done at 1035 37 LMs 20 Sprints and about 30 mods.

I had a few people tell me the ran thru hard rain, I bet a few teams turned around, stayed home.

I said the track drained well didn't I? But even I was pretty sure after what I pulled into they'd call it. By 730 sun was out, track was run, Infield had iffy spots but HELL YEAH another heavy Florence speedway.

I witnessed heat races you could have thrown a blanket over the top four for multiple laps. The feature, Half that race was a battle between Cummins/Fass till KABLEWEE and then Cummins/Short/Windom. WIndom took control with about 7 to go, Ballou passed Short then gave Cummins a Suicide slide from hell, Basically Im around you, Lift or crash in two. Then chased down Windom in traffic, I don't know, I think Windoms lucky that was the last lap, Robert was hauling and on him at the line.

That being said, Congrats WINDOM!, Glad everybody is safe and thats two of three MSCS races there that I've seen that was STELLAR! Fans were saying, I never see anyone on the wall in four :)

Chuck, who left half way into the LM Feature, got home at midnight and fell into bed asleep before I hit the pillow after a 23 hr day.

P.S. That track like that features some of the best sprint car racing I've seen. PERIOD.

Sometimes it isn't about quanity but quality. We had 20 cars, but at any given point in time the top 5 was all up for grabs in every race all night. Good sized crowd. We met some really nice late model cats and had a good time The rain went just north of us and just south of us. It was very good luck to have it go that way. Thanks MSCS and everyone who attended.

I agree there were some excellent teams and drivers there. They put on a great show, especially the first four!

Its true the car count was a little low, but the teams that were there put on a great show w/ a great feature. Good job everyone. I am glad I made the trip from Bloomington!

I think most tracks would have called it after the significant shower around 4:30 but they worked hard and got the show in.
