The schedule of activities, for the May 16th race at Rushville, is now posted on their website, MTQRL.com. There will be a pretty much full day of things going on, including racin! Several Hall of Fame celebrities will be on hand, and I've heard that some will be racing, as well as signing autographs. Take a look at www.mtqrl.com. Bob:6:

RE: MTQRL Schedule Of Events For May 16th, 2009...
It sounds like it will be a neat deal. As of now, I'm planning on attending the event. I think there will be some excitement with the show. Best of luck to the MTQRL...

Who is prepping the track this weekend? May I come and help out? |
RE: MTQRL Schedule Of Events For May 16, 2009...
I was wondering that same thing. I wasn't sure if the Fair Board has to prep the track, or if MTQRL could decide who preps that track. Is it true that someone other than the Fair Board will be prepping it? Or, will someone be assisting them in prepping it, at least? I sure hope so...
I remember a few years ago during the Rushville Nationals, they had a championship race. I'm pretty sure we had a rain delay, which put some moisture in the track. Wow, it was a pretty good show after that. It has some potential, but it's rarely shown. I know that the dirt isn't the best, but if prepared right, it can be pretty good. As long as they add a lot of water, and not all on the bottom. Water quite a bit up top too, all of the way to the fence. Plus, I think it gets packed too tight a lot of times. You don't need twenty mud packing sessions. These are just my observations, but I'm no track prep expert! I've been going to Rushville for well over twenty years, since I was a kid. So, hopefully it'll be a really good crowd! |

Re: MTQRL schedule of events for May 16th
Jon, I was told that it would be the same people who prepped Greensburg (did an excellent job there). The fairground tracks would be fun to race on but the tracks are always in such poor condition that it tears up the cars and single file racing. However, Greensburg at the end of last season was the best it has ever been, it was in awesome condition and some great racing. Only time lifting off throttle was to set the car into turn three. I know I always thought there was no way Greensburg could ever be a smooth track but now I know it can be done. Hopefully they can work some magic on Rushville and we can have a good race!

Re: MTQRL schedule of events for May 16th
I've got a new keyboard, and I've noticed it has been misspelling words, putting them in the wrong order, and numerous and sundry other things. Best I can tell you on the track prep, the gentleman that did such a great job at Greensburg, last Fall, has been contracted to do all the Fairground races for this season, he has been around and looked at all the tracks, so he knows what he has to do. As far as I know, there are no Experts at track prep, just some better than others! Now, does he need any help, I don't know, but the best way to find out, is get there early Sat morning, and he can tell you. And, Mark, if you're reading this, there is a question on the board, in the 50 lapper, will yellows count, just how will it be counted? Bob

Re: MTQRL schedule of events for May 16th
I remember last year at Rushville, Scott Petry, did all the track work and made Rushville awesome, maybe you can contact him. Also Greensburg was so good at the end of the year thanks to Ron Combs and Mr. Harpring. UMRA is at Greensburg on the 16th as well come see the best in the business.

Re: MTQRL schedule of events for May 16th
Sandy, you better work some magic with the weather, this is wearin me out, it did this about 3-4 years ago, then just turned hotter, and drier than you know what, but it was so humid, it didn't need to rain. Lets all hope this weekend will let us, and all the dirt racers, finally get on the track. Bob

Re: MTQRL schedule of events for May 16th
Sounds like it will be a good show! They need to move the tires way up and make everyone run in the top of track first then move em down for a session, that will help with the single groove problem thats so common in rushville
