Nobody asked me .... But.....
I am bored and just feel like sharing a couple things that bothered me last night at Tri-State... please don't take me too seriously......
- I feel the "no changing of a tire rule" at MSCS races after a race has started should be changed ...at least two drivers fell victim too this genius rule last night .... at least give them two laps of so!!!!! - I feel that every time Thomas Jr (9k) spins out.. his team should buy everyone in attendance a beer.. no coolers would be needed then...lol... - I also think anyone with the last name of Krockenberger should be forced to run with the modifieds.. nothing personal, but man... they aren't just bad, they're dangerous.... and so was the 25 Nigg??? -I would also like to propose no rain on Friday Saturday or Sunday.... I'm going out on a limb on that one, however |
Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
On the flat tire rule or any other problem that may occur on the 1st lap OR before the race even starts (like when Stanbrough got ripped off a few years back when his rear end shifter broke):
Why would anyone make a rule like that? Everybody works there a$$es off to get to the track and make the show, and then have something happen that needs repaired or CAN be repaired quickly, told they can't come bach onto the track and race? :14: |

-.... and so was the 25 Nigg??? [/QUOTE Cut the guy some slack. I think that it was only his 3rd or 4th race in a 410 (moved up from mini-sprints). Saw him run at Bloomington eariler this year, seems to be improving. |

Nobody asked me but. The MASS putting lappers back in line rule is its downfall
Lawrenceburg changing policy to allow work on cars if it doesn't pause the show ROCKS. Gullick from last to 8th after flat. Does wheelpacking a cushion prevent flips??????????? Wasn't a beautiful evening last night? Did anybody else get three hours or less of sleep between twelve hour shifts and six hours of racing ? Did everybody have fun? Chuck |

Nobody asked me either, but here goes. I think the working on car rules is difficult to enforce and that is probably why MSCS and SCORA have that no work rule in effect. I know fans get upset when they allow multiple teams to do it and it holds up the show. My biggest beef is when it takes forever to get the cars lined up after a yellow. One way radios have helped this issue somewhat I think. I got some sleep but I certainly didn't have to work a 12 hour shift today. If the cushion gets too tall you most definitely will have flips. Thats why they need to "mudpack".:3: I had a blast last night at the Burg and this evening at Kokomo. Glad to finally get to meet you Chuck and I suppose I will see you again. Don't worry, the Section A crowd is harmless.:5: |
Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
After watching USAC drag out shows for tire changes, I like the no tire change deal.I feel that if it is EQUALLY applied, thats the break. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don't.
As for Adam Nigg, third or fourth time in a 410, he isn't doing bad at all. It is a steep learning curve and he is adapting. Yes it was a beautiful weekend, finally. Tommy Helfrich and the boys do another fine job. |
Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
...I'm glad haubstadt didn't open reds or have a work area if they did we'd have got home at five instead of four!
...I definitely believe in Karma you think Shurenburg did after last night? ...There were two sprint cars there last night with a drivers head completely sticking out of the cage. When i nudged the officials to look at it they didn't do a damn thing! STUPID on both counts.. ...Nic Faas is gonna be pretty damn good! ...Clauson took a hell of a hit and no one seemed real concerned about the driver... ...There's some good young shoes out there, but if Clauson's NASCAR deal is struggling, does anyone else have a shot. There's just no more room for rookies right now. |

How about everytime that the flagman at Kokomo throws a premature yellow they give everyone in the stands a beer?!!!! That would give everyone in the stands a couple beers a week at the rate he is going!!!!:15:

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
JMO - I would like to see the rule amended for only the initial start of the race. After a lap is oficially scored you should be done if the car has to leave the race track. The line ups after a stoppage are always a pain but the drivers need to get in single file ASAP. The drivers have to remember that scoring will not allow the race to resume without cars in their proper position so even if you have to fall in line a couple of spots behind where you know you belong they should just do so to allow the track help to get them in their proper places more quickly.

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
Hey, Addicted how many races have you flaged or worked as a track spoter or saftey crew? Last night at Kokomo if you let Hunter set there in the track sideways and he kept getting hit with Coleman having him right in his sites and lined up for a t-bone wreck! Its damn if you do and damn if you dont with the yellow. Because as soon as he gets hit sideways and hurt you would be one of the first ones B----ING! Thats our main concern is driver's saftey and always will be! Let me know what track you work at or flag at and we will have to come and see how good you are.:22::20:

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
Chuck,
I think you are confusing him with the last junior flagger as far as kart racing goes. If you watch him, he sometimes sees the accidents before Tim does but always looks to Tim before he throws the appropriate flag. I am not sure where the distraction is and I think he does one hell of a job! |
Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
That kid does a great job ! He is always scanning the track looking for trouble. If it is such a distraction maybe you should consider sitting where you can't see him ! If I were Dave I would let him in for free every weekend !

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
Its where he is standing...Why is he between the flagman and turn 4 not after the flagman?????When your in the stands "to me" its a distraction....If any other kids where standing there ,the track security would tell them to sit down. What if a car was to get over the fence and he was to get hurt, then who's fault would it be????? I've got a boy that wants to be an announcer and he has a mega phone maybe he could come and stand there and announce the races??????

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
If your racing and looking that much in the stands for grandma and aunt maud, you shouldn't be driving a car to begin with....so let the kid be, he could be watching TV or playing video games wasting his life away...sheeesh...be thankful he has a guardian who takes him to places like the track.... Kudos to that person or people who get him there so he can enjoy the moment:9:

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
I love it when the kids get into it that much! I remember several years ago a father & son team flagging at East Bay and I thought they were awesome!
I also think its cool your son wants to announce. Maybe they should give him a test run at it, let him interview a few drivers 1st??? USAC used to always have the best flagmen, they had style and complete control of the race.:8: |

I bet that when he has a wife and kids they will be in the stands at a racetrack and I hope that one of his kids will be there waving the flags ! Have fun at KC !

Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
i think the kid should be in the main flagstand because the guy they have in there now is going to get someone hurt. i was there last weekend and the flagman at the burg sucks the kid was doing a better job then him.
|
Re: Nobody asked me .... But.....
I've got to be honest, but in this day and age when kids seem to be more interested in playing video games that it's great to see kids with, even a small set of flags, trying to flag or emulate the flag man. The average fan in the stands is getting older at nearly every track and having kids so interested in the sport that they take flagging seriously is great. I understand that perhaps some tracks have these kids maybe too close too the main flagger, but if the "Real flag person" is in the flag stand and the younger kid is in the lower grandstand then it shouldn't be an issue.
In a lot of tracks, drivers count on the lights or infield workers for notification before actually seeing the flagman depending on where they are on the track. I just think it's great to see young interest because truly, young fans are the future of the sportl. I can remember falling in love withe dirt racing in central Indiana and then being lucky enough to get a little older and experience Central PA wing racing as a teenager. However, those that know me will know that I came back to Indiana because of family, but also...because you just can't get away from those ba**s to the wall non-wingers in the Hoosier state!:9: carey fox |

I am sure we would love to have him get on the mic. He has dreams just like others. Sure we can't have him announcing all night long, but we will give him a chance to live his dream. Each situation is different, in every type of situation. I deal with them the best i can and thats all i can do. The JR Flagman as i like to call him, is fine with what he is doing and i will continue to support him. Thanks for your time, Dave |

:16 and while you're in this "fulfilling of dreams" mode, I have heard that Charles Nungester yearns to slip on a tight T and some short shorts and try his hand at hawking 50-50 tickets throughout the grandstand. If true, while realizing this might be a detriment to concession sales, could you turn Chuck loose with a bucket and a roll of tickets some evening? Just a thought . ;):2:;) :22: |

Did someone take your flags as a kid? Spill your popcorn? If it is that big of a problem... you move... you seem to be the only one B#$#@ing about it. He has stood in front of me taking lap times.... and he notices things armchair QB's don't....so Keep Flagging Kid...Go to KC Raceway.... bye bye:11; Dave...take care that kid....its people like him who keep this sport alive. No doubt about it. He has my full support, and I am in the pit stands...Nice response Dave and we are looking forward to getting there here this summer. |
