Vincennes University Midwest TQ Racing League

May 2nd Fast Facts

Location:
Decatur County Fairgrounds, Greensburg, Indiana

Track Type/Size:
1/4 mile semi banked dirt oval

Classes Competing:
MTQRL three quarter midgets only

Time Schedule:
Pit Gate Opens – 2:30 pm
Practice – 3:00 pm
Qualifying – 6:00 pm
Racing Begins – 7:00 pm

Admission Fees:
Pit Pass - $20
Adults (16 & over) - $9
Children (6 to 15) – $5
Children (5 & under) – Free

Drivers Insurance:
$100,000 major medical insurance at no extra cost

Entry Fee:
None

Driver Eligibility:
All drivers must be MTQRL registered members ($25 annual fee). Minimum driver age is 14.

Practice:
Open practice from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. You may practice in as many sessions as you like.

Qualifications:
2 laps, electronic eye photocell timing system.

Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel:
Fastest 4 qualifiers inverted for 4 laps. Winner receives 10 free gallons of racing fuel at the track plus a gift certificate for an additional 5 gallons.
A random drawing will be held among all entrants for a gift certificate for $50 of racing fuel.

Heat Races:
Each car will run 2 heat races, no more than 8 or 9 cars per race.
In the first round of heat races the cars will be grouped by like times. 10 laps, points only.
In the second round of heat races the cars will be staggered by times and inverted. 10 laps, points will be awarded, top finishers transfer to the feature.

Semi-Feature:
12 laps (if needed), top finishers transfer to the feature.

Feature:
25 laps, 21 starters. $450 to win, $150 to start, $100 non-transfers.

They just keep going the extra mile to help the drivers and teams get a bigger piece of the pie. Seems they have the correct mind-set to build a great racing platform for everyone that wants to give 'em a try.

This wasn't publicly announced...but I noticed an additional Lawrenceburg race on Oct 2 with USAC Sprints on the mtqrl schedule.

They have three TBA's on the schedule I think. I hope they fill those dates too. Gotta keep TQ29m busy and out of trouble. LOL

NoWings, I'd be in deep dodo, if they schedule a race on the 11th of July, my wife's family, all Italian, all Catholic's, take over Lutheran Lake on that day, for one of the largest reunions you can imagine, and with all that Cold Beer, and Wine, all the "edibles" everyone brings, do you think I could get by with "leaving early"? I can, and I have, and I will, but I'm just thinkin we already have a plenty of races scheduled, and I don't want to miss any of them. Now you see, someone else trys to keep me busy. Bob

Well, just maybe they left that date open so we can all go to the lake with you. It only seems right that I would be there to test the food and "cold ones", just to make sure they are all OK. Always ready to do my part, you know.

NoWings, there will be so many there, they wouldn't notice, the place is so secluded, you have to park up on the hill above, and they have a Mule, with a trailer behind, that runs a shuttle back and forth, 2 way communications, so no one has to wait, same way when someone needs to leave. It would be pointless tho, for you to be the taster, that has become my job, as I am now the Elder Beerman of the Clan! We'll just play it by ear, I usually manage somehow. Bob

Rule Change

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the rule change. The 45" rule has been changed to 48".

40.3 Tread: 38” to 48”-measured center of the tire to the center of the tire at centerline of the wheel.

Vincennes University Midwest TQ's Greensburg Youth League Night, Saturday May 2nd Decatur County Fairgrounds . All Greensburg Youth League players get free admission into the grandstands. Also, the Midwest TQ's sponsored ball team will get their picture taken with the feature winner.

It really is past his bedtime. His last post was at 10 PM, and some of his other racing buddies and I will take the blame for that one. But as you can tell, he has missed quite a bit of beauty sleep over the years. Nothing new there. LOL.

Good idee, Duke, Sonny and I both worked for Ford dealerships, in Columbus, I worked at Harrison Motors, and he worked at Mahan Ford. I don't know how well he is, I thought i read on here a while back, that he had not been well, very good idee, he was one of the early TQ racers, and one hell of a swell guy, course he liked to pick on me, cause I was a bit younger, not much, but a little. I forget how early he has to get up for work. I'm usually just going to bed at that time. I don't think I'm going to get much sleep this week either. Too exciting.

Charlie, do you realize you musta got up before breakfast, you were on here before the SON was up! You'll no doubt have to have a nap in a little while. I got over that, now I take my nap, before I get up, then I don't have to stop anymore till bed time. Works for me! Bob

Well Bob, it's like this...My miles have been cut so short that I have my job done before breakfast. I use to start work around 10pm and finish around 6am. Now however, I start at 2-3am and finish around 6am. I need to find some other line of work. I can't take another pay cut. That would cut into my "barley-soda" budget. :32:, and we just can't have that. :7:

One of our track experts examined the track today and reported that it is in good shape for racing Saturday night.
