Jerry,
That's a great bit. You just made my day. Jim Morrison |
Re: Allison out at THAT
Difficult to believe that the ole trash hauler has finally come to his senses and walked away. I thought he would fight to the bitter end to make all of the racing community's life miserable. I have to give the guy some credit though. He is the only person who was able to get everyone on the IOW board to agree on one thing. Everyone despised him.:loser: :headbang: The end of an era!:redflag:

Re: Allison out at THAT
Till I see a race there, with a good car count.... and actual track prep.... im not holding my breath:doh:

Hey guys... I think many people including me share very similiar opinions on this topic. Let's just not get carried away with the way we go about sharing those opinions.
If this is true... let's look forward to the possibility of a return by USAC and MSCS to the THAT. That is what I hope to see. |

Bill, please don't over regulate your board. People are passionate about racing and the ******** involved. I've never met D.A. but, I know he has been a miserable failure everywhere he's been. He has not been much of an ambassador for the sport many of us love. Let them express their views and vent their frustrations, if they feel so inclined. If you're afraid of a little controversy and regulate the board accordingly then, this place will become anemic and wither on the vine. If a post is vulgar or, attempts to incite violence, then of course, delete it, but otherwise, let them have their say. ps....sorry Joey, I had to cut and paste. |
Re: Allison out at THAT
Whats that song?
DANCIN' in the streets? However I do have concerns, It's gonna take some $$$ to get it up and going, Concessions aren't cheap to stock and it might need some clay and other work (Grader, Water Truck ect) Chuck |

How bout a reschedule of the Sumar to this year yet? :kookoo2:
|
Re: Allison out at THAT
First off, I hope it's true. Second, about :censor: time. I still don't see why the board couldn't void the contract in the first place. He didn't live up to the contract. Running the place into the ground thus causing the canceling of races should have been the end for him.
He has taken three tracks out of play for me and for many other people. For that, he deserves anything and everything he gets. I understand what you are saying Bill, but nobody is bashing another member on here. I don't wish anything bad on the guy...just go away from the racing industry for good. :redflag: I have no respect for the guy because he doesn't deserve any. |
Re: Allison out at THAT
As much as anybody I want to see racing again @ THAT, once we see some kind of "official" announcement then lets celebrate!! It is trick or treat season:thumbsdown: I had "heard" earlier this week this was in the works. At any rate lets keep our fingers crossed:checkered:

Re: Allison out at THAT
After looking at this later... cecil is right on. I should've just let the post be without any comment. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Re: Allison out at THAT
If this rumor happens to be true, I will need to alter the location in my profile (to the left here). :applaud:

Re: Allison out at THAT
I, just heard it From a fair board member. DA IS GONE FROM THAT!!!
|
Re: Allison out at THAT
I am glad that the track is going to be under Seargent's care.
Too bad the fans had to suffer the lost season that we did. Any chance USAC comes back in 2008? |
Re: Allison out at THAT
Great news!!!
I hope too hope USAC is back in 08. |
Re: Allison out at THAT
Doesn't it figure... USAC finally releases a schedule early (Sprintweek)
And then we get news like this... lol any hope for a sprintweek return in '08? |
Re: Allison out at THAT
Hell, maybe a 2-night finale to ISW, paying oh, maybe $30,000 to win:eek:
Sure great to hear something is finally happening here.:thumb: |

I still think they should all be back to back nights at the same track, so let THAT back in it with 2 shows!! Less travel to race another night, fans get to camp out or drive their house in ( i dont call that camping) and have a great time with all instead of packing up and moving on to the next track. Am I the only one? Areo needs to stay in one place most of the time for at least 12 hrs after the race (my professional opinion). LOL

Re: Allison out at THAT
There were probably deadlines and timetables set by the court system that prevented action being taken any earlier. Legal action, etc. It's not always as easy as Donald ***** saying "You're Fired."
Bill was probably a little concerned about the discussion degenerating into libel and slander. Then, it's Bill at financial risk and none of those making the comments. It's gotten pretty dicy on here before when people have posted about THAT. When I was a newspaper editor, if some of them had been letters to the editors (basically the same thing as a post) they would have never left my desk. Freedom of the press belongs to those who own it. So does the responsibility. Looking forward to THAT. Saw my first sprint race there in 1973, on a poorly prepared track for that year's Hulman Classic. A real rut fest. Saw a lot of great races there after that. Jim Morrison |
Re: Allison out at THAT
I'm actually not that big on Terre Haute being included in Sprintweek, but I really hope to see returns of the Sumar Classic, Hut Hundred, Hulman Classic, and the fall race. Sprintweek would really look a lot better with Vernon and Putnamville added to the list, though!!

Because the last time I was at Terre Haute, the post-race nachos were not very good! haha
Also, in the past few years, the intensity of the racing at Terre Haute during heat races and even non-qualifier's races is not what it is the rest of the week. It has always killed the buzz of the week for me. Plus, a race there during the week lessens the chances even more of a shoestring racer winning the championship (see Gaines or Shively). |

The Boones Farm 50, often imitated, never duplicated.
|
Re: Allison out at THAT
So, is this Allison chic a promoter or something?
|
Re: Allison out at THAT
If it is true that the allison era is over at the action track glad to see this finally happen. But if you think Sargent is the answer sorry to say he is not the person for the job. Was hoping that they could go a little further south and get a real promoter from Tri-State to run this place to and then have some back to back shows on the RT. 41 road the action track on saturday night then on down to Tri-State on sunday night.
