Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
so is this gonna be run under the 32 top qualifiers locked in system or a passing points system?
Makes all the difference if I go or not and probably a ton of teams as well. I'll probably visit the Burg shows but for traveling I want to see the best show possible and this year it was Midget Week by a longshot. Chuck, not a major gripe. Just a observation (I want the locals to race these shows and last year they DIDN'T) |
Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
I think it is a shame that because of a certain individual, there are no races at THAT or Twin Cities.( Maybe I should have mentioned Rutnamville, but these days they have become irrelevant.)

Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
Can anyone recommend a place to stay near Gas City and Kokomo?
Looks like they are close to each other, might be nice to stay at one hotel for three nights. Thanks. |

Me personaly, if it ain't broke don't "try" and fix it! Last years format was just fine and I saw some of the best racing in the U.S. just the way it was! :headbang: :angry-smiley-007: |

What I saw wasn't bad, But a normal show with 6 heats, Two consis and 40 cars running at least two races each beats it IMHO Over 50 cars, Four heats and 18 of them load up after a 8 lap LCQ. Im Just saying Midget week had 50 car average. 5-6 heats at each show, Two consi's and some hellacious racing going on in the heats They didn't stop at 3rd because many times, THIRD WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH. If its guaranteed a top 4 make the A. There is no extra incentive for someone running in a locked in possition to move forward. I understand USAC's format. Its for their Series racers. At a normal USAC show this works fairly well (32 Locked) Because mainly not many *Outside teams* attempt them anyway. Could you imagin\g Sprint Week with 100 car following and nothing else on the card? make the format where everyone has a chance and I believe it's possible. I'll go to some SW shows but like I said after this years. IT COULD BE BETTER and after MW shows, that showed me HOW MUCH BETTER IT COULD BE! :thumb::thumb: I know Greg reads these boards sometimes, The mans a standup guy and will give you reasons in person or in a official capcity. He's honest and tells it like it is. He also knows I tell it like I see it and praise when praise is due. BTW Greg, Thanks for working hard on getting some stuff hammered out for next year so early. It's easier to make plans for :) Chuck, Tentativily planning on doing the PA tour and all of Midget week. |

Just because YOU don't like qualifying, doesn't mean you are the in the majority. I would love to see an honest poll on qualifying. :thumb:/:thumbsdown: Everybody has an opinion, (like other things everyone has), and it is my opinion that midgets are midgets and sprints are sprints. There is no valid reason to treat them the same, after all, how manys locals did this format you so disire to change to, help to make the MIDGET show? |

We can agree to dissagree. What I say isn't law, A dictation or a boycott. It's about seeing the best show possible. Qualifying at times is very entertaining. Others I find it quite boring. I don't hate it but often track conditions more than a drivers ability and equiptment determine who gets where. (Im not saying that to be derogitory to any team or driver) Sometimes the tracks better at the end, Sometimes the beginging. Sometimes it's good for nobody which also equals the field and actually exploits a team and drivers actual abilities. Chuck, who don't find the entertaiment and competiton when I can tell you the top five qualifiers of most USAC shows before they even start. Levi, Swindell, Bacon, Coons, Stenhouse |

Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
I would like to see Sprint Week points kept seperate from all other points and if any provisionals are granted, let that be based on points during Sprint week. Actually, Stanbrough won Sprint Week this year, if Darland wouldn't have got a provisional the last night! I would just like to see every team have the same chance as the USAC guys and lets see who the best is during Indiana Sprint Week!

Lawrenceburg was a part of the inaugural Midget Week in 2005. They had 41 cars (not 22), 5 heats with passing points, a semi and a feature which Jay Drake won in the Kunz #67 after leading all 30 laps. The reason you remember the number 22 is because I think that is how many fans showed up for the Thursday night show. |

I was one of them and it wasn't well attended. It probably was 05 Sandy. Chuck, who don't remember that many cars, Maybe there was, I just remember barely enough for a consi but you have the facts. I don't |

Chuck,
I think this is the race you were thinking about: USAC NATIONAL MIDGET CAR SERIES RACE RESULTS: |
Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week

Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
I was at the midget week show at the burg and I remember saying that we finally had a midget & sprint show with no other support classes and no fans showed up. Kinda pi$$ed us off. Everyone always bitched about support classes and when Tom gave us what we wanted and he took a financial bath for it. It was a shame.

Ain't that a beat all...Aussie mate givin' a Florida cracker information on an Indiana race track. The world is gettin' smaller & warmer, no doubt.

Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
Kamp's a nice track. Big Quarter Mile with slidejobs!
The seatings excellent, The foods ok and the restrooms stink. Chuck, who really didn't care. The reacing was good :) |
Re: 2008 Indiana Sprint Week
Nobody mentioned how wide Kamp is...You could easily run 6 wide, you wont be inthe right groove, but there is a ton of room.
Restrooms...I was sitting right in front of them (didnt find them until on the way out)and only thought there was portapots the entire night, they do have restrooms just a bit small for a ISW crowd. Food: Took a while to get through the line, but I like what I ate. Again they are probably not used to ISW crowd sizes. I bet all the above is better next year, also want to be mentioned being thanked 3 times by the staff on entering for comming to the race!! |

Called Knoxville room mate # 2 the other day to advise the ISW schedule. The roomies decided along with myself that the Nationals were no longer worth the price, even for the social side of it. They have decided that Indiana Sprint Week is the replacement for the Nationals. Seeing that I live in Indiana now,its easy enough for me to do. I have got to find a replacement for Knoxville though, maybe Belleville for the midgets. PS Kamp is out in the middle of the cornfields, so far outit might even confuse your GPS. The corn was getting watered quite often while the supports were running. |
