No MSCS @ Clay County!!
...figured I would post this since no one else had...
CHANGE: The 2009 MSCS Schedule has been revised to facilitate a request from Clay County Speedway promoter Richard Burmeister that the two dates he had reserved to present MSCS racing be removed from the original schedule. The complete schedule now has 16 dates with the possibility that either of these two open dates could now become race dates elsewhere or rain dates when or if needed. Here's to hoping those 2 dates get replaced!! |

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
I doubt they ever go back to Paducah. 3 seriously injured drivers in 3 races. Not a good situation.

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
Dirtfan, I'll second that motion, and if not there, Jim Mills please open Red Hill.

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
Ok if we are using people getting hurt as a scale of judging where to race at we would all be sitting at home watching nascar wouldnt we? Just my two cents but I liked it... I was unfortunately there for the accidents, but I liked the track....it raised the hair on your neck and watching Ballou run it with a broken jacobs ladder wide open with us not being able to catch him was unreal....Brad Sweet landed in pits at Tri-State...should we go back?.... again... my two cents

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
I was unable to make it to Paducah last year but can someone please let me know what accidents we are referring to? I know about Kenny's accident but what were the other two?
I did make it to the last race at Clay County and seen Levi Jones win in his own ride. The track held up pretty good that night and thought there was some good racing. Any word on why they pulled out of these races? Maybe we can get MSCS to add these dates to the schedule at Haubstadt!:thumb |

Jason, The other incidents happened on 08/03/2007...The B-Main was red flagged at the very outset due to a serious accident in turns one and two. Two drivers were injured. As Chad Boespflug's car was flipping in turn one, the car of Daron Clayton continued crashing along and into the outside retaining wall before soaring over the concrete and out of view. Both drivers were taken to the hospital. Clayton was released later that evening with a concussion and Chad was air lifted to University of Louisville hospital for observation because of Shoulder injuries and skull fractures. Chad was released from hospital on Sat night and is at home recupperating. Report his shoulder has deep bruise and he has a fractured skull behind each ear |
Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
paducah is nasty fast... scary fast... i've ran there once in a mod, and it was just amazingly fast fun but can get you hurt in a hurry

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
I'll miss racing at Clay County. The track was decent, it was closer to home
than Indiana and alcohol was only $3.25 a gallon! :crying: |
Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
You can't blame the track, because if that was the case you wouldn't see racing at Winchester , Salem , or IMS.

I remember reading about that accident now. Looking at the pics from North Vernon it seems that Chad has found his way back into the car. I am assuming he plans on running all year? |
Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
I heard that SCORA having 5 races there is why MSCS wont be there. Not sure if this is true.

Very good point. This track being in the great state of Illinois, aka Late Model Country, I am sure that the promoter saw an opportunity to pay a smaller purse with SCORA than MSCS. He is taking a chance with 5 sprint car shows and I would think that played into the decision. If you look at most track schedules, most have not deviated much from the past. Economic times being tough, promoters and track owners are sticking to proven successful shows at their speedway. We need to be thankful that someone is going out on a limb to test the water. |
Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
Pretty much what I thought Mike:thumb

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
I was glad to see a good turn out at Flora for both shows but neither race was much to see. If it hadn't been for Levi showing up for the 2nd race it would have really sucked.
I think its funny they cancelled MSCS though for the SCORA series. Goes to show ya money ain't everything. |
Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
Good point....now go run the steel block and ***** about it and not MSCS

Re: No MSCS @ Clay County!!
