The Dream

I just woke up from a nap. I am sweating my heart rate is high. I just took a hot lap at Paragon with Daron Clayton we hauled it in to 3 so hard that I almost passed out from the G-forces. Could this be something that could really happen? I do have a Visa Card. Good Night.

Re: The Dream

it couldnt happen unless keith has decided to "REALLY" prepare the track............good luck with passing out from the "G" forces.......there are none at paragon!

Re: The Dream

I loved watching Bobby Kinser Drive at Paragon he would fly down the straights slide up to the high point in the middle of the turns and fly down the straight again he never drove huggy pole on the bottom. I am sure there is a name for this method.....diamond or something like that........he made the track into two long drag strips and boy did he fly. I don't know how many wins he has there (hello Dwight) but I will bet it is alot He drove a black 65 when I saw this. Non winged of course.

I am going to say a few things about Paragon Speedway. Never dought(sp) what Keith Ford is doing. He took a old Gambler and put a Buick engine in it and ran strong every week. As for as track prep and that stuff he has probably saved drivers thousand's of dollars on parts and repairs by doing the track the way he has. That track is scary fast and he knows it. I heard a story about Bobby Kinser and Dick Gaines.... more than once... they put up some money for fast time I guess Gaines went out first and then Kinser. Kinsers throttle stuck and he went into three and flipped all the way to the road not the pits but the the road by the corn fields.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about that LM race at the big E.

Wasn't he the grader driver at the 'burg in recent years? Or maybe somebody that looked like him was doing it.

Maybe I better ask Daron the next time I see him if he's ever considered getting a 2 seater sprintcar and giving rides.

This "dream" you speak of: PARAGON? No offense, Bro, but maybe you should think nightmare. It's not really what I'd call a "cowboy" track! Thoughts? Lay em' on me!

I guess a dream of mine came true at the KISS finale at Haubstadt in July. Clayton vs. Stanbrough need I say more?

I think he was, Gregg. This was when Greg Staab was da man at da 'burg.

Rich, do you recall Bob Kinser driving the F-800?

You mean when Dave Darland DID NOT make the race but they let him start anyway and he stole the KISS championship from Stanbrough?:redflag:

I guess I don't know what a cowboy track is. I am a old guy I first went to the track back in the 50's if you mean ruts and bumps and stuff like that, it is not a cowboy track your right! But I do know that almost every sprint car driver who made their living from racing in the last 50+ years has raced a Paragon at sometime. And I will bet most of all the drivers in the Sprint car hall of fame have driven at Paragon. So if you are a driver and when you push off at the next race look up at the stars and say thank you! I got a chance to race at a track that the legends of racing have raced at. I hope Bro is a good word.

Thoughts? Lay em' on me![/QUOTE]
Is this what you meant

Yes, I was very young though...... How about a car that had a engine from a airplane in it and it went so fast down the straight in would not turn and drove right off the track. I think they said it was a Allision 12 cylinder aircraft engine or something like that. My Dad and I had great times talking about that. Somebody on this board said the name Bill Dugger (sp) not long ago. Him and Cecil Beavers were the first big time drivers I can remember they were like Kinser and Swindell of resent times.

First off, KISS doesn't have provisionals. Secondly, Jon won the KISS championsip this year. Mat Neely finished second.

He won the very first sanctioned All Star Circuit of Champions feature, @ LPS in 1980. I remember him making his living about a foot off of the infield tires.

You have KISS and Indiana Sprint Week confused. Dave Darland earned a provisional and used it during Indiana Sprint Week, not the KISS race.

Upon further review.... if you are calling Daron Clayton (nick name the cowboy?) and as stated Paragon is not a cowboy track I beg to differ. Put the cushion right at the top of the track.... at the very edge and.. I have seen it... I take what I said back.. would not want to take a two seater ride with Mr.Clayton.
