Flat track motorcycle racing
I know they ran at THAT years ago, but if they had the races again, would anyone on this board go to them?
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
Those guys put on a great show!!!!!!!!
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
They are at Springfield every Memorial Day and every Labor Day weekend. If you've never seen them, it is worth seeing. I like the Silver Crown cars better, but the bikes are cool. The atmosphere is pretty good too with the crowd that they draw.

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
They will be at the Indy mile on Saturday August 29th. I have also seen them at the 1/2 track in Greenville, OH. They are wicked and our seats at Greenville are so close I could reach out and high 5 the riders as they go by. They always put on a great show.:applaud:
I would love to see them return to the Action Track. I how the new promotional team would at least look at this type of show for future years. |
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
Yes, I would attend. Have seen them at Indy once, Haubstadt once and at Du Quoin and Louisville Downs eight or ten times both. The riders always put on outstanding shows, IMO. Tom

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I would go to THAT to watch them. Now these guys have some balls. No belts or cage. Just rage.
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I actually spoke with these guys in Indy this last weekend and sent an email to DHK saying that they woudl want to race at THAT, but that is all I can do.

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
The AMA flat trackers ran at Eldora about 10-12 years ago, if I remember correctly.
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I would go there for a flat track motorcycle race, before a USAC race. :thumb

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
They race at Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth Wisconsin every year. If you get there a half hour before the race starts you will never find a seat. They draw big crowds man.

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I'd be there in a heartbeat, this show was great on the Indy mile last year.
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
How can it be a flat track race at Eldora? Just wondering, not trying to bash anyone.
|
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I raced Bellville in the mid 70's. Sure wasn't flat but it was "AMA GRAND NATIONAL FLAT TRACK" Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread. The last race I rode was at the Action Track. It was pretty awesome too.

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I went to my first AMA race at the fairgrounds last year and I will not miss another one for sure! I have been going to races at the fairgrounds all my life, I have seen sprint cars, midgets, modifieds, late models, ARCA, champ cars, and the bikes blew the rest of them away! You'll find me inside turn three for the bikes as long as they are there.

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
Great thread! I went to many, many AMA Grand Natl. races for years before my addiction to Midgets, Sprints and Champ Cars....lol (I even attempted some semi-pro stuff myself, with marginal success at best)
We witnessed the one and only win in AMA history by a water-cooled 750 Yamaha by Kenny Roberts over the HD's of Corky Keener and Rex Beauchamp at the Indy Mile before it was banned! Made trips to Louisville, Peoria, Toledo, DuQuoin, Santa Fe, Astrodome, Cobo Hall in Detroit and many other Regionals. We also were in attendance at Terre Haute when Al Michaels and Olympic Decathalon Champion Bruce Jenner did the broadcast live for ABC Wide World of Sports in '77(?) Of course we drank beer at the races back then too, and hangin' out after the races we were approached by Jenner for something to drink.....:O: We offered him a beer if he would high-jump over our van. Wouldn't you know the big sissy took a pass.....but had a beer with us anyway. Great times! |
Re: Flat track motorcycle racing

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I always liked going to the Peoria TT races in august. Nothing like seeing those flat trackers going over the "jump"

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
I work for a company that sponsors Joe Kopp (2000 Champion) and a new kid named Chad Cose. I am also the webmaster of Chad's website http://www.chadcose.com. He has a good shot at winning ROY this year. If you have never been to an AMA grand National race, you should REALLY check it out, it is the ultimate for openwheel racing. I made my first tip last year to the Annie Oakley race at Greenville, OH last year and it was a great race, the season finale at Heartland Park was even better, especially since I got to take the bikes over for my boss and crew them. The highlight this year will be when they race at Bulls Gap, TN. It is a super high banked track and they should be "on the pegs" all the way around, the XR750's will be screaming there!!! Here's a few shots to get the blood moving!

Re: Flat track motorcycle racing
While you're in Greenville, OH, a stop at the Maid Rite Sandwich Shop is a must! Make sure you've got some bubble gum with you as it's tradition to stick your gum on the outside wall before you enter,,lol Yes, they even sell a "gumwall t-shirt"! Eldora & Winchester fans from all over the country make a trip to Greenville just for a Maid Rite. People for years have tried to copy them but they have their own secret special way of making them.
http://greenwave1974.com/maidrites.htm http://dine.com/restaurants/rid/169672/index.html Hey racefan20, I'm gonna make a run to Greenville Thursday afternoon!! I'll think of ya while I have a Maid Rite!! mmmmmm,,,mmmm,,,good!! . |
