Yup, several times. I saw him flip the car at the Indy mile. Click the link for a Winchester shot.

I have a question for you David. Do you by any chance have a photo of Rich in his dad's red 39 sprinter at Santa Fe Speedway? I loved going to that track and remember that is one of the first places I saw Rich race back in the 70's. I took some pics there years ago but have lost track of them.

I also remember Rich in the Balesteri #60. Does anybody know if that sprint car started out life as a Champ Dirt car?

Thanks buddy.

Hi Gregg!
No, I don't remember any photos of the red 39. I'm not sure why but I've never been to Sante Fe either. I was gonna go to my storage unit today to get more photo boxes but we are supposed to get 8 inches of snow, so maybe tomorrow.
I do remember the 60 car you are talking about but not sure of it's origin. I think I have pics of it, I'll go searching when the weather breaks.
David.

According to Vogler's biography, NO TIME FOR YESTERDAY, Balestreri said the car was a Ronnie Ward built sprintcar that he bought from Ray Smith, Eaton Ohio.
What does any know about Ronnie Ward. Is he Roger Ward's son or brother?

Besides being a local car to us, the Jr. Knepper #55 was always one of my all-time favorites. The restoration of this car (and the hauler) is absolutely beautiful.
This car, the Lloyd Stephens OFFIXCO #21 and the George Snider/A.J.Foyt Terre Haute First Natl. Bank #11 are my top 3 best lookers ever.....

Yer wrong there, Chucko. That car is a Delrose and Holt Champ Car.
The car I was talking about was pearl white and red, that AJ drove to the twin 50 wins at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in '74.

I think Sarah Fisher and Ed Carpenter signed autographs at the Butler game on Saturday. Did you attend classes with either of them or were you in a different era?

hogan6 3/2/09 5:21 PM

Re: Elder Cadillac #55

Not sure when Sarah attended. I was a couple years ahead of Ed. Saw them both at last Saturday's game. Asked Ed what it felt like to be out-run by Milka at the Homestead test.
