How many inches of rain can the track handle for tomorrow before needing to cancel?

Re: Terre Haute

They've been doing pretty well with it lately. Going to be dry tomorrow and much cooler. They'll update probably noon.

Re: Terre Haute

no set rule.'depends on other factors like humidity, wind, and functionality of track equipment.doesnt hurt to have a healthy gate ready to get their seats.

In my memory(20yrs) THAT is probably the most rained out track I can think of. Several years ago they had 8 races on the schedule, made 2. Ive personally made the 300m round trip to rainouts at least 5 times. Plan on going tomorrow.

I remember the microburst that came through that night. That was a gully washer for sure.

Terre Haute was under a flood advisory ending this morning at 9:00. Not sure how much rain they actually got though.

Re: Terre Haute

Radar looks like they received about 1.5 inches. Pumping the low spots, especially in turn one, will be key. Come on wind and sun.

Re: Terre Haute

Google said they had a 1.25". Good for a heavy track!

Re: Terre Haute

As of noon USAC posted it was a GO

:5: Don't know if you've been in on the running joke for years about coolers ever since TEI stopped promoting Terre Haute.

From the website; Coolers are permitted in the INFIELD only! You are allowed to bring water and soft drinks and beer. Glass is not allowed!

cl124 7/31/25 2:50 PM

lol I forgot all about that time period. Was not a joke. Attend a lot of these tracks once or twice a year and can never remember. Track replied to my Facebook message. See below in case anyone else would like to know.

Small coolers only in the grandstands, no size restriction in infield, beer sales on site

Winners tonight;
The fans who packed the stands. Line at ticket booth was crazy. Bravo :8:
Amazing battle between Stockon and Ballou.
Congrats to Moose racing for their First National win ( thanks for moving to Indiana ). Damn, that was good!

Anyone in attendance tonight not enjoying that feature, might be time to find a new sport.

awesome, awesome... so happy for the Stockon team, USAC, Terre Haute promoters ... glad for a great show and for the sport

SpfldMile 8/1/25 8:35 AM

Woohoo, outstanding! I’m so glad they got it in, and so glad I went. That’s what Terre Haute is all about. I usually watch all the battles throughout the field, but the race for the lead was so damn good, I couldn’t keep my eyes off it. Really happy for Chase too. He seems like genuinely one of the nicest guys out there. It was a popular win with the crowd too. I could hear the cheers over the engines for the last couple laps. A great crowd showed up and was rewarded with a barn burner. Great night at the ball park.

wildman92 8/1/25 8:48 AM

Wow. That was worth my lunch, breakfast, dinner AND ice cream money!!! Outstanding race.

Re: Terre Haute

If you were not in attendance for that, YOU missed an instant classic, and shame on you for not supporting THAT.

MOOOOSE!!!!! IS LOOSE

The great action at Terre Haute last night once again flies in the face of the myth that 1/2 mile racetracks produce less than stellar racing. The bullrings aren't the only great racing and Terre Haute seems to bear that out year after year during ISW!!

Huge congratulations to Chase Stockon and his family and his car owners. Feel good win all the way around!

Bam! While Seavey won Burg convincingly. The racing for the least with Ballou and Bacon passing each other for the lead 8 times in five laps, The rest got taken out in some freakshow crash down the front straight.

That was Baddass Terre Haute. Wish I could have been there.
To he driver who said "I hope it slicks up"

NOBODY wants a slick dusty THAT. Other than him.

Congrats Moose Racing.

ThrowbackRacingTeam 8/1/25 10:45 AM

One of the greatest sprint car races I’ve ever seen! It’s one thing to run that close on a quarter mile, but to do it at twice the speed on a half mile with the cars lurching around makes it the most exciting form of racing on the planet.
Thanks to the fairboard, USAC, competitors and big group of fans that made it all happen. Indiana Sprint Week is so AWESOME!!!!!

Charles Nungester 8/1/25 10:55 AM

Re: Terre Haute

Thanks also to Ballou and Dorset and others for the guardrails and reshape.

There was a time I just thought they'd run out of racers willing to run the place. 32s a good field.

Re: Terre Haute

That is why non wing sprint car racing is much better than wing racing especially on a full half mile racetrack. Being from Pennsylvania I have seen many wing races at Williams Grove, Port Royal, and Selinsgrove, most of the time the majority of the cars are up banging the boards or all running hugging the bottom. Last night the drivers were all over the place looking for ways to improve their position. The head on shot of the cars coming the front stretch showed how much movement was going on and it was outstanding action. Kind of reminded me of USAC shows at the Reading Fairgrounds back in the day. I have had the opportunity to see a few USAC sprint and Siver Crown shows in person at THAT and enjoyed every one of them. I wished I would have been there last night.

Re: Terre Haute

All the tracks have been excellent. Wide and multi grooved. From mid 90s heat and thunderstorms to low 80s and sun

Good Job.
