Welcome Back !:6:

Would you post the info here also? I’m planning on going to ISW race tomorrow night. I haven’t been to Bloomington since the grandstand was rebuilt. Seems I’ve read you can bring lawn chairs like Putnamville. Thanks. 🏁

I thought all of the IOW'ers joined together and decided to ban blankets in the stands forever. :3:

Another solution would be like IMS dirt track and not let people in the pits go to the grandstands without purchasing a grandstand ticket. Nothing more frustrating than prime seats only being used for a single heat race and the main event.

Yes, Lawn Chairs work good on the grassy hill or sidewalk. Bleacher reconstruction went pretty well. Blanket on the grassy hill area also works good. Best tip though, is to arrive early to stake out your position. Concession lines will be long. Coolers welcome without glass. Enjoy!

430 gates open. NO SAVED SPOTS. anyone who did will find their stuff on the hill when they get in.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll carry a seat cushion instead of a lawn chair. The track website shows gates open at 5! I’ll leave my house a little earlier than I planned. 👍🏁

Wish I could. Aging parent keeps me hour from home. Bloomington's 2.5

racefanindy 8/1/25 4:38 PM

Now I see. You CAN sit in lawn chairs in the grandstands like Putnamville. I’ll know for next time.

The deal with Briggs Danner and the ladder last night was the team realized to late that they brought their work car, not the racecar. Fortunately they were able to climb up through the field and earn hard charger

First off I'd like to thank Bloomington Speedway for several things they did last night. We were in the 4th line of cars up at the top entrance waiting for gates to open at 4:30. When they opened up, the first 3 lines drove straight into the track. Come to find out they went around and pre-sold tickets to those lines, allowing a much quicker entry. :8::9: Second they added a few porta pottys in the upper parking. Third they had workers walking around selling concession items in the crowd. I'm sure this allowed them to sell more and also keep the line down, even tho it was still looooong.

Elephant in the room is the rock issue. They are still everywhere and quite a bit of damage was done to tires and cars due to that. You could see sparks flying from the tiller going around the track. I know it's going to take some time for those to work their way out. The All Star Circuit of Champions is coming in 2 weeks. A ton of tires were blown during the IRA race, even the Flagman got hit during the Burton Memorial and went down and had to bring out the Red flag. I'm afraid those series will not return if things aren't cleaned up.

I agree with your assessment of the track rock issue. That can not continue as it is. Several USAC teams were complaining about the cut tires and damage to their cars. I don't know if anyone saw Steve Phillips post with a picture on Facebook of the hole a rock put in their carbon fiber hood. the size of that rock plus seeing the sharp edges on it shows you why teams were cutting down tires. Hopefully they get the rock issue resolved, otherwise Bloomington put on a great show!

100 buckets
100 fans
50 pizzas and some free passes and rocks that size would disappear.

This works, we had to at the original Marion county fair grounds, but we didn't get any pizza!
