Grant

Will he race with broken foot?

Charles Nungester 7/28/25 10:27 AM

Re: Grant

kinda depends where the breaks are probably.

flagboy55 7/28/25 12:01 PM

I hope so.

Re: Grant

I hope he runs also. That was a rough ride. Sure bet that he hurts in other places as well. Wish him nothing but the best in his recovery, racing or not.

badcoupe 7/28/25 5:40 PM

They tore some stuff up last night for sure. I felt it looked like moles took the worse ride, he was pretty high up for sure.

If you can't put your weight on your food. I doubt you can mash a brake peddal.

Moles tapped grant on the restart then Cummins come around and punted him. what broke the floorpan also got his foot. Grant wouldn't have gone over unless that happened.

I would say if he only had to have it set and a cast put on he might be able to race. If he had to have it repaired surgically I would imagine that USAC wouldn’t let him run. Moles never tapped him, Grant caught a bite and lifted both front wheels off the ground and then hit the wall where it comes in toward the track.

Ok. I'll take your word as you're not the only one says that. all got is the speed cam view. All I saw in person were two cars flipping wildly with Cummins for a Encore.

I agree with post from Kinser. I saw a personal video on X showing the start of that wreck and I didn't see Moles tap Grant. Looked like his right front caught that big berm and launched. I'd be careful accusing Mitchel of tapping him as you said.

If he wants a personal apology. Give me his number.
All I said is what it appeared like from the speed cam.
Sheesh

I just wanted to reach out and say Thank you to everyone that sent prayers and well wishes for Justin Grant after a vicious crash at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Thank God all 3 drivers involved are ok. Justin sustained a broken left foot, which if anyone knows a true Racer this is not going to keep him out of the Race Car. Again Thank you! Justin and his family really appreciate it!!🖤🏁

Justin made it through surgery like a champ and is tucked in to start a bit of recovery! (With a highly alert Chloe dog on duty)
We aren’t sure exactly how long his recovery will be, as soon as we get an idea of how manageable pain is we will have a better idea.
Thanks so much for everyone’s kind words and support, we really appreciate it.

From his wife's Facebook post along with the picture of him using a boot it looks like we may not see him the rest of Sprint Week. Time will tell how well he heals after the surgery. I hope it's fast and wish him well!

flagboy55 7/29/25 1:34 PM

I’m no Dr, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I have first hand experience with damage to lower extremities due to fractures thanks to my other favorite sport, hockey. From my experience if surgery was required he will need a little time off. Which begs the question does anyone know if they will sub someone for him to maintain points?

wildman92 7/29/25 3:49 PM

Sounds like they’ve come up with a few hand brake options for JG to run tonight at Kokomo.

Re: Grant

OMG They did rig up a pull hand brake in the car like the outboard would be.. Also have a motorcycle type handbrake for the wheel and are waiting on Justin at the track to see which he'll want to try.

Video on Usacnation Twitter and Facebook of Jeff Walker showing em in the car.

Props to the team & him for wanting to give it a go. Kinda surprised USAC would approve it. Of course they did allow Hewitt to run silver crown at Springfield with a patch over his eye back in the day.

Maybe Bacon would make himself available for the night

Charles Nungester 7/29/25 8:36 PM

Re: Grant

His foot can't be banged around. I'd make a foam leg stabilizer bottom and sides up to his knee and tape bubble wrap to it.

Still don't see a way especially on dirt from not getting shaken up a lot.

Speedmax3 7/30/25 3:48 PM

Re: Grant

Give Justin and Jeff an A+ for trying to find a way to race but it was pretty obvious after qualifying it was going to be tough for him to be competitive to his standards using a hand break on the steering wheel. They made a wise decision to just use a provisional for points and give him some time to heal. No need for him to put himself in a situation that could complicate his recovery.

Charles Nungester 7/30/25 4:19 PM

Re: Grant

You'd think JG was a mad gasser and that may have been true ten years ago. But watch him in qualifying. While others gas the whole track or maybe burp the throttle to setup a corner. JG Gets mostly out of it. keeps the car straight and allows the momentum to have him right from mid corner out where he can get full bite.

GET WELL JG.
