Eldora carnage.

Eldora carnage.

Courtney, Reutzel, & now Brad Sweet tonight all paying hospital visits after some nasty wrecks.

Racing is still dangerous. I hate to see anyone hurt, but it’s part of the game. When the edge becomes so thin, unfortunately it’s easy to go over. Racing is all about running on the edge.

There are no small crashes at Eldora....

That's what made Eldora famous. On the wall and Cajone's out While some could run lower and make it work. Bobby Allen, Frankie Kerr a few others. Dogging that leader on the ragged edge and bomb sliders in one and three are why they came.

While I think turn once needs re-profiled a little and some drainage in the middle Take the entry out five feet. center ten and make it more like 3/4 Plenty of room. Clearly some water getting under track center of 1-2 creating the hole.

Wonder if WoO has naming rights on Kings Royal and Knoxville Nationals. Becaue all I seen was (WoW) World of Whiners.

There's a short video on facebook of when they announced him walking across the stage. I've never heard boos that loud at Eldora. Almost like his name was Hamlin...................

You’re referring to booing Gravel?

Drove over Wed to see night one of High Limit. My reasoning was seeing the High Limit inversion of 6, 7 or 8, plus their fan friendly HL interviews Tony LaPorta provides. Larson was fast qualifier, and he spun a 6. All seemed calm Wed night until the rain shower hit. Took them about 1:20 to redry the track and the track picked up even more speed. As Charles said, those with big stones were running that high line in turns 1 and 2. That bump in turn 1 was causing chaos, and you could keep your momentum up top along the wall or take the slightly slower route below the bump.

Of course, the feud started after the racing was done with the Gravel DQ. That fueled the fire even more between the Larson / Gravel tension. It was clearly HL vs WoO the rest of the weekend. Those other wrecks were bone jarring, especially the infield video of Brad Sweet getting hit wide open. It's a miracle the injuries were not more severe to all drivers. Be interesting to see how all the drivers react to Knoxville.

You can clearly tell why the fans love the wings. The sheer speed and dangerous racing fuels the fans appetite for incredible racing. Whomever on the High Limit marketing team that secured the Thur night live FS1 broadcast needs to be praised. Hard to estimate how many new fans were exposed to sprint car racing. Announcers on FS1 said that over 3,000 camp sites had been rented for the Kings Royal weekend. Amazing. Probably more fans at Eldora Wed night than at the Iowa Indy Car races. Let the HL vs WoO feud continue to sell tickets!

Apparently you never saw a late model race with Bloomquist (RIP) at the Big E. He had lots of fans but man he would get booed like crazy at driver intros. The only guy that got a reaction from everyone. Of course he ate it up & I think it partially fueled his greatness.

Really glad all the injured drivers are going to be ok given some recovery time. The weekend had an old school feel to it (from watching online).

Eldora used to strike fear in the fans & a fair # of the drivers. Guys should be a bit intimidated by the joint. The track was a lot better (drier) on Saturday & the turn 1 hump was not as bad.

Maybe some of these younger guys will remember this past weekend & get away from some of the slide or die mentality in how they race. Of course crashes are gonna happen but so many of these guys drive like there are zero consequences to just taking guys out (especially the ones that grow up on midget racing). It's so much safer but things can still go really wrong. Not to mention the cars are more expensive than ever when you do junk one.

Nearly everyone seems to have that mentality when the big money is on the line at races like the Kings Royal or Knoxville.
