More Information on Tim's Accident and Injuries... from tims website

Tim was involved in a violent crash in Turn 1 last night while leading his qualifying semi at the second night of the Chili Bowl. The rear end broke right of center and sent him into a wild flip over the fence.

His longtime friend, James Spink who is now with USAC, is at the hospital with him. Tim has a fractured T3 vertebrate and floating fragments. The local specialist just saw him and does not think they are an issue.

USAC's Jason Smith has contacted Dr. Terry Trammel, the fantastic doctor from Indy who has helped so many racers over the years, who is going to call down here this afternoon after he gets out of the surgery he is currently performing.

Tim is a full-time racer and has NO health insurance, so hopefully we can think up some ways to pass the helmet to help him out.

Special thanks to James and Jason - this is not a USAC race but those guys are here in Tulsa for the show and have been a big help to Tim

Thats Horrible News! And he walked with a collar after the accident? Maybe they should have waited and taken him by ambulance? I really thought he was okay when I heard he was walking. Scary Stuff! I will be saying prayers for him and maybe there is some address we can send a little $$ to?

James Spinks,, or anyone that knows a number for James or a contact person, please e-mail or PM me a contact phone number when you get a chance. I have spoke with Jana Sparks with DARF, Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club, for some help for Tim from their Injured Driver's Fund, and they need a contact number to get address info etc.

You will need to type my e-mail address in as I don't think this link will work properly.

Thanks,, Tom Jennings ... .tjtomthumb@hotmail.com

What's he thinking getting behind the wheel of a race car without health insurance? I'm sorry to hear he's hurt, but where's the common sense in doing that? I'm actually a little suprised health insurance isn't mandatory out there!

David Poole had this in one of his stories : Efforts were being made to set up a fund to assist McCreadie, who has no medical insurance, and offers of assistance with expenses have already started to come in from the racing community.

For now, donations can be made to the U.S. Auto Club and sent to USAC c/o Tim McCreadie Support Fund, USAC, 4910 West 16th Street, Speedway, Ind. 46224.

My thoughts exactly Steve. How can you be a short track racer and not carry any health insurance on your own?

I think bashing him for no insurance has been brought up allready. I think you people need to find something else to harp on. You should be keeping him in your thoughts and prayers instead of bashing the guy. I bet there aint a single on out there that is bashing about no insurace are leading the perfect fly by the book life. He didnt have no insurane so get over it. I didnt see any complainers when there were a few others that got seriously hurt! Hope Tim Makes a quick and speedy recovery!

If anyone reading this does not have health insurance. There are policies that pays you a set amount of money per day you are injured in an accident/mishap. Up to $500 a day if hospitalized and lesser amounts if recovering at home (varies by policy). It does not pay anything to hospitals/doctors etc. It pays you and you only. I believe it is to a maximum of $100,000. Its about $25 a month. This seems to be a good deal for someone racing. You can also get this on top of standard health insurance to pay your mortgage/utility bills. I know someone that was in a motorcycle accident and was off work for a month. They were paid about $12,000. Just something to think about.

Combined Insurance has accident policies that cover racers. $15.00 & up, per month. They pay you direct. No one needs to bash Tim. Everyone just needs to keep him in our thought & prayers & do what we each can to help.

It was a freak accident. Its not everyday you see a rearend break the way that one did.But Ive havent seen anything on here yet about the track having any insurance.Do they,or do you half to sign a waiver saying the track isnt responsible? As far as personal insurance goes alot of people cant afford medical insurance.I understand that because I cant afford it for myself and wife either. That is a secondary subject right now.A racer got hurt and we need to think about him and his recovery and his family that is dealing with this right now.Sometimes things happen and we dont know why but we half to learn from and make the best of them.Get well soon Tim.
