Some important #s in this one. Mainly all the 30+ winners (some cool names!) and a 30-point margin for the point lead!

I would like to see usac open up a public forum on their site.

Re: Usac

I think we'd have to join their FB page...I am holding out...lol. I check here, TJs, hoseheads, and nssn.com for the majority of my SC&M news. When I'm looking for more/smthn timelier, I'll go to the usac site. I have checked the FB page a time or two...imagine next we will have to get one of them tik toks & instas. But hey, whatever it, I guess it's better than waiting til the end of the week for the paper copy of the NSSN to arrive in the mail...

We may have had to wait a week for Speed Sport but when it got there, it was the best of times. Straight to Chris’ column first and on to the remainder of the paper. A real joy for longtime race fans.

Well said Scott. One memory I have of this time of the year was the big Christmas paper. Loved to pay a few dollars and send a Merry Christmas wish to favorite drivers. I used to surprise local support class racers with a wish. They got the biggest smile to see their names in Speed Sport next to legends! I can't imagine SP type setting all those names. 🏁

Here in the East we had along with Speed Sport a paper named Area Auto Racing News. It focused on east coast modifieds as well as central Pa sprints and even asphalt racing regionally. They had a few pages on the national stuff. Growing up in the glory days of our modifieds we didn’t need much else. Kind of funny to think you waited til Wednesday to find out all that happened the previous wknd. If you wanted top 5 finishes sooner you could call the tracks after midnight and listen to a recording. My oh my have times changed. Gotta say I wish we could go back every so often and enjoy it all the way we did.

I remember Area Auto Racing News. Definitely east coast focused. Very detailed with great articles and results. I just searched AARN and see you can still get a 48-copy subscription for $75. Glad to see they are still hanging on!

I still subscribe to AARN. As far as I know it's the only weekly racing paper left. At one time I subscribed to NSSN, AARN, MARC Times, Mid-America, Gator, Cavalcade and Speedway Scene. My mail carrier hated me.

PIT CART 11/30/24 4:07 PM

I remember the Marc times, back when I was racing a street stock it was cool seeing my picture on the last page 🤪
Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Scott Daloisio 12/1/24 1:34 AM

Being born in Michigan until moving to California at 18, the MARC Times was my favorite. My dad used to buy copies of that along with NSSN, and Mid-American Auto Racing News at Flat Rock or Toledo Speedways every week. Wish I had hung on to all of them.

Had I been your mail carrier, you might not have appreciated me reading your papers on my lunch hour. :)

If you have the abilty to log on here you have the ability to log on usacracing.com and everything is there

Exactly. Companies design websites for "traffic". They want and measure viewers clicking on their websites. USAC would be no different. IOW viewers had it made for years.

You didn't have Checkered Flag Racing News? Thinking that was out of the Wisconsin area 70s-80s maybe.

No, I didn't know about that one, darn it.🤔 I forgot that I also got Wheelspin News out of Canada for a while.

I think they would get more traffic if the link was posted here...(click on the thread, click on the link; come back to this site to talk about it, etc). TJ's and Hoseheads continue to have great coverage - I do understand this is not the same kind of site as those are. Like you said, we had it for many years though...so oh well; I guess...

Its been explained on here why we arent getting the results from USAC. I'm not sure what you didnt understand. When USAC redid their website it broke the process that copied the results. Bill wrote it and obviously cant fix it. Unless you would like to learn programming and fix it yourself then I guess we will all have to live with it. The number of times you mention it on your posts will not make it magically happen. I suppose if you want to do us all a favor you could copy and paste it here from the USAC site :) The ASCS process is still working so thats why you still see theirs. Also Richie is way to busy to do it manually so you can probably forget about that too. Any questions?

I didn't start the topic (this time...lol). I think the quote you commented on explained my level of understanding of what has been explained (sorry, no better way to say that). What I've noticed in life, is squeaky wheels get the grease (can't say it has usually worked for me though). If we don't comment on it, it's like we don't care...

...I have copied and pasted many times; but I have wondered the following: Is there an on-going negotiation process if the job description should include participation on this site? If we do so, are we disturbing some of that process (either proving the worth of it or not)? It is like we are cheapening it some (if we do it; for "free") - Personally, I would like to keep USAC front and center on this site, but I do not want to step on anyone's toes when doing so. I was told they do not really miss us anyway, but I think we (not just me) continue to prove they are missed by many of us on IoW.

Bottom line: Richie puts out GREAT stuff packed with information. There are a number of followers on here that may not be on FB, tik tok, insta and what have you. Not all of us think to check USAC.com every day, but we come on here many times through the week. The more good stuff posted on here (or linked if that is what it needs to be) keeps traffic on this site and the information shared to a larger group of people. It is hard to believe it cannot be figured out; one way or another...

So that is that. It will either happen or it will not. The season is done, so we can move on (everyone can hopefully talk about the indoor races and if we feel like coming across a USAC story somewhere else, we will). If it comes back it comes back. If it doesn't; I guess it is what it is. The more time that passes maybe we will miss it less.

Re: Usac

I have USAC on my bookmark toolbar right next to IOW. A single mouse click opens either one. I just don't see what the big deal is not having Richie's post on IOW. A mouse click is a mouse click. A real advantage to Richie's stories NOT being on IOW is avoiding a spoiler for a race you missed watching live on FLO, especially west coast races that run way past this old coyote's bed time. Just my two cents.
