Nice to finally see a good crowd for this event. It’s one of my favorite shows of the year. Weather was beautiful.

The show went off like clockwork. Practice, qualifying and features only. The sprint car feature went green at 5:30. The 100 lap USAC Silver Crown feature checkered about 8:15. I was back home in Illinois by 9:30.

Car counts: 18 Silver Crown, 20 Sprint Cars, and 13-14 cars in each of the two midget classes (National and Ecotech/Focus).

The 500 Sprint Car Series feature was the best race of the day. Tyler Roarhig came from the third row and took the lead from Dakoda Armstrong with about 10 to go. Sprint cars really rip around IRP.

Both midget classes put on a decent show. Adding the Ecotech/Focus cars to the program has proven to be a good move. They put on some great racing throughout the pack. I’d look for even more of those cars next year.

I thought the first half of the Silver Crown feature was pretty good. Great battle for the lead between Bobby Santos and Kody Swanson. Then Tyler Roarhig got in the mix. Something happened to Roarhig on that restart (fuel pickup or mag?). Ended his night. Too bad. I think he was going to be the one to beat. Logan Seavey was coming strong with 20 to go and it looked like he might be able to hunt down Swanson and make a race of it. Just didn’t happen.

And I know I’m hoping against hope that supermodifieds get added to this show somehow. Putting supers in the mix would really give this event a true “Phoenix Copper World Vibe”.

Santos won the National Midget feature. Kyle Hamilton won the Ecotech/Focus. Beyond that, it might remain a mystery. IRP ran the midget program. They haven’t been good about posting full results anywhere.

Well said by everyone. What a great day of racing for only $25. Wheel to wheel racing in every feature. And kudos to IRP for organizing a fantastic "trunk or treat" Halloween event for the kids that was free of charge. This was in addition to the oval track racing. There were trunks of import cars from the parking lot to behind the grandstand. Add in drag racing and it was perfect late afternoon for whatever you wanted to do at IRP! 🏁

Was disappointed there were no Silver Crown, Sprint or Midget cars out on 'midway' during Trunk or Treat. What a perfect time to display the type of cars racing on the oval to an unfamiliar crowd.

A huge missed opportunity.

I thought the racing was very good. Its hard to be side by side for a 100 lap race. Pretty solid racing for most of it. 1 thing that is different between spring and fall races, traffic. Didn't we have right at 25 in the spring? Last season was right at 30. Just curious as to why the drop off? You only have 7 asphalt races for the season. I'm just starting to see the SC numbers drift away again.

I do not know much about the Ecotech/Focus midgets. Both races I have watched have been very entertaining. I really hope this series grows.

Ideally people will have more money to go racing next year...

Car counts fall off in many series as the season goes on. Break downs, wrecks, depleted budgets.

I totally agree with that, but a few years ago you had this big SC push. Even on the dirt it seems like numbers are starting to drift down. I am one that has bashed the SC series in the past. The racing used to be dreadful. Indy Mile was so bad I fell asleep. Now the cars are pretty racy. I do not get to watch many races live, but I am always looking for the SC replay. The big reason I bring up the car counts, if 16 or 17 start, we all know we are down to 14 by lap 20. The SC cars always get some good long runs. Lap traffic always plays a big role in the outcome. When you take that element away, the race becomes very predictable. Maybe its just the end of a long season.

Agree on the car counts and that there was certainly a bump, but I would be surprised if there is any series with higher numbers this year than there was in like 2019 or so...

There certainly is less race tracks too.

Have to enjoy what we got, and when we can, slap a $20 (or more / like maybe buy a tire or connect them with a sponsor) at a race team / buy a T-shirt from a driver / etc. It goes a long way.

A great day of events and racing. You could watch some drag racing or walk through the classic/super car show. Good racing on the oval in the features. A good way to promote this event with multiple things going on.
