Does anyone know if this could be Parnelli Jones?
|
Could be, jc ran that number, as well as I, in those days, but it isn't me
|
Also a could be, Pj ran a similar car at Indy in those days, another good guess
|
Oops, overlap, Chris Baue might know, he was involved with the Jones family at a later time
|
I’ve seen this photo before and I think it is Dick Atkins at the Sacramento mile in October of 1966, his 1st Dirt champ car win. Sadly 3 weeks later he perished at Ascot along with Don Branson.

Billy Vukovich, about 68 or 69, in Agajanian's dirt car. Indy Mile. Hoosier Hundred.

Re: Photo Identification
Who ever it is, and where ever it is, it is one beautiful racecar, excellent photo and a its a dirt track that has a cushion. That boys and girls is what racing should be all about. I know we can't go back to those days, but in my opinion USAC pulling dirt cars off the Championship Trail to appease the new set of indy car owners started the demise of the sport we follow. I still follow Indy Car but it sure is not as great as it was.

Re: Photo Identification
All these years later ...and the shots from a distance, from turn 3 looking at them coming down backstretch, they really don't look that much different.
That's why, if I can help it, I never miss Springfield or DuQuoin |
What a goodwill find!
