Silver Crown dirt car fantasy track

Just having fun:

If you could see Silver Crown cars run on any track anywhere, which one would it be. A completely ridiculous fantasy, but I would like to see cars on the red clay one mile horse track in Lexington Ky. That would be a beautiful sight.

Ellis Park horse track. If they can turn a race track into a horse track we can do the opposite. The track was designed after the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York, and features a 1.125-mile dirt track

Volusia with a big ole Texas modified wing.

They were interested in doing a race there, and even met with officials. The cost to make safety improvements that were needed, was too much to justify. It would have been a great place to host one.

They have run the Flat track bikes there the last few years but not on the schedule this year. Hay bales and the inflated safety walls are much less expensive than guard rails and permanent walls.

Wow. Thanks for the memory lane trip, Chief! I used to live in Saratoga Springs.

Yeah, unfortunately the old track at Hartford is not coming back. They have already moved too much Earth around and removed Turns 3 and 4. Now, I-96 Speedway could physically still be re-established as a half mile, but we'll be lucky if the joint stays open and afloat as it is now.

Winnebago County Fairgrounds in Pecatonica WI. Another 1/2 mile. Badger raced there in early 90s and different versions of Dirt Late Models. The fair board has some interest in auto racing still...

Terre Haute…always seems to rain out and not get rescheduled. Truly though, any dirt half mile big enough to handle them. We need more venues to keep the series viable.

WV Motor Speedway. The only non IL track big enough to hold em.

Mine would be to see Eldora build the mile track. I would also like to see big block dirt modifieds and AMA flat track there!

nathans1012 11/17/23 9:23 AM

Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois with all 3 top USAC divisions and maybe IRA / MOWA wing sprints with that.

With the 4 divisions together it would help bring in a variety of races fans who love those types of racing and help pay the tracks bills and the event purse.

Not sure what pit pass and grandstand admission would be but I bet it could work.

I'm guessing (I could be wrong, as I have been many times) it would be well over $300,000 worth of sanction fees/purse to have 4 divisions like that? That would take a lot of tickets...I forget about streaming $, but I think it takes a special deal for the tracks to get a LOT of that money...

There has to be some promoters out there taking interest...

I'd love to find about $40,000 in sponsorship and stage a big time race of any sort at this Pecatonica, IL Winnebago County Fairgrounds 1/2mile...
