Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Looking forward to this event. Wish it were more than one day. Would be great for this to be turned into a three day special like Smackdown is at Kokomo. Why not showcase TSS the same way. Have a second marquee event at the we only other track in Indiana that could handle it. Everyone come out and support the Helfrich family.

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
I am going to Circle City on Friday. Not 100% sure if I can make Tri State on Saturday. As for wishing it was a 2 day show. I can only remember one 2 day show at Haubstadt, since I first went there in the mid 80's. It was MOWA the first night, and the Outlaws the second night. I didn't go, but I am sure they had a good crowd for the Outlaw portion.
I would go for sure, if this was a USAC full points race. Not sure why they don't take advantage of a close battle for the championship. Seems like you could really use that to your advantage. As for Central Indiana fan base not supporting, that road runs both ways. How many people from southwestern Indiana made it to the Smackdown? With my health problems, late at night and early mornings are when I really struggle. If I knew they could be done around 10 local time, I could talk myself into that 4 hour drive while losing an hour. Hope it is a good race, and a good crowd. Early weather looks good. |
Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Im planning on doing the Haubstadt double. The racetrack and Dewigs meat market. (The Disneyland of butcher shops)

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
You have to create and grow a event. Most don't profit first year but if it's worthwhile and people get the word out. It grows.
|
Re: Haubstadt Hustler
The central Indiana people can just visit their local John Deere dealer two days in a row and save on expenses.
|
As long as they have fries Saturday, all will be good. That double cheeseburger just wasn’t the same without fries last time. 😕

They have had a previous 2 day show but it was a USAC race followed by a Outlaw make up show. That said, they could handle a multi day event anytime they want to schedule one. As for the tractor haters maybe they should attend more Ohio tracks so they can get their fill of dust.

I would submit that there were plenty of fans supporting Kyle and Chase that wknd. Obviously without personally asking where they were from we will never know. The real statement/question you might want to give light to is, why were there any empty seats at Smackdown Saturday? After solving that, then worry about the road running both ways. Every year the Hustler gets a good crowd but I read complaints about, tractors, the drive is too long, the time zone is a problem. For once I’d like to read about what a great show and maybe the event can grow to a multi day deal! |

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
While I can often TIRE of the constant track work, it is the best option for the racing involved. Hope they can get a good balance on the track conditions, so the last 20 laps are 3 lanes wide and drivers have options.

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Haubstadt had a two day outlaw show during COVID. Carson Short won the 1st night, don't remember who won the 2nd night.

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Haubstadt had a two night WOO show during COVID. Carson Short won the 1st night.

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
I heard repeated commercials for the 4 crown on the sports radio station in Indy the last few days. Maybe they could try that.

Great facility. Fans are passionate. Did not know they had so many local great shoes. I was there a few years ago. Tractors and push trucks are a trip. Must see.
|
I prefer tracks that prep it right to begin with, don’t start too early and don’t need to rework the track. I’ve found that provides the best night of racing. Some promoters want to be a part of the show and run their equipment in front of the crowd and that’s their right just not my preference unless the track is total junk from not enough water and starting hot laps too early in the day.

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Haubstadt has for years been a truly class track in the midwest. More times than not, coming back and farming the track before feature has worked extremely well for them with really great racing. and... they still allow coolers to help out fans and families and they still get you out at a decent time.
Always one of my favorite tracks to visit in the summer |
Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Do you really think Tommy gets off running his equipment as part of the show? What do you think he spends per night running those tractors and trucks? I don't think it is for fun.

Great show at TSS. Efficiently run. One support on invite only status. Track prep awesome as always. Fantastic crowd. This event needs to grow to multiple nites!!

I think the format really hurt the racing. Not one single pass for the lead in the heats or the feature. Happy for Brady Bacon. He qualified 15, started on front row of his heat, and won the feature without ever passing a car. Not every baseball game ends 3 to 2. Yeleyfan 76. Did you tell anyone from the track that you think it should be a multi day show? I am sure if they wanted to do that, it would already be done. Why not approach the people who can make it happen, instead of just saying it here. |
Re: Haubstadt Hustler
It was a two day show. 80 miles apart

Re: Haubstadt Hustler
Unfortunate ending for Aric Gentry on and off the track. Last two events at Tri State ended badly for him. Hope things improve for him.
|
Was Aric the driver who hit the other driver in the head as he walked by?
