TRAFFIC ALERT FOR THOSE COMING TO LINCOLN PARK SPEEDWAY FOR SPRINT WEEK!!!!!
Beginning on or about July 26th US 231 is going to be closed from just north of I-70 all the way to Greencastle. So here is our detour tips!

Traveling on 231 from the North - Just continue on south when you are 231 at the light by the courthouse in Greencastle (your would normally turn to the left) this road is Jackson Street. Jackson Street will turn into what the locals call Manhattan Road. Just stay straight and it will bring you out on US 40. Then you just east on 40 and its about 4 miles to the track.

Traveling on 231 from the South or coming on west bound I-70 - just take I -70 to the Putnamville Exit (Exit 37). Take 243 north and it will bring you out just a bit east of the the track. You will be able to see the track from that intersection with 40.
Traveling Eastbound I70 - Take the Putnamville Exit (Exit 37). Take 243 north and it will bring you out just a bit east of the the track. You will be able to see the track from that intersection with 40.

Traveling eastbound on US 40 - just take your normal route

Traveling westbound US 40, there are couple places that 40 goes to one lane. One of those spots is just west of the track, so when you come out of that bridge construction, be sure to move into the drive lane (right lane) and not the passing lane.
Safe travels!

Is there a support class?

ThrowbackRacingTeam 7/25/23 12:17 PM

Wish you would start later especially with a heat index over 100 degrees. Nothing wrong with starting hot laps at 7. You can still be done by 10.

Race Day!

BLASTER1 7/27/23 1:20 PM

How much rainfall has there been today in the area?

The55 7/27/23 2:47 PM

I live in Plainfield and there hasn’t been enough rain to this point to be a problem.

wildman92 7/27/23 5:08 PM

Light shower moved through around 4. Now back to hot and muggy!

That light shower sure has things delayed it seems

Rpracing1 7/27/23 8:52 PM

Still hotlapping

racefanindy 7/27/23 9:23 PM

Just curious. Why was there a caution period during each hot lap session?

Get more laps on the track and let the drivers adjust to the changes from first to second hot lap section

What race was it last year in speed week? That CJ didn't like what Robert did. to him and tried the drop kick. Maybe Everson should have did that to CJ here at Lincoln Park tonight. Pretty bonehead move on. CJ 's part. Maybe somebody should remind him of that. Tell him he's not perfect either.

This track is too wet and un-raceable.

What caused all the crashes/ ? Finally came in about halfway thru B main but it was total slop down low and they were even pushing on top of two.

I'd be there if I could. I cant,

The55 7/28/23 2:09 AM

The track was not too wet.

Dirt Trackker 7/28/23 10:56 AM

Agree, track was fine. Drivers struggled to adjust. Maybe they didn’t like having to wheel pack? How many flips? I honestly lost track.

Some of the accidents were due to contact with another car and had nothing to do with the track being too wet.

With larger car counts, drivers have a tendency to drive over their heads to reach transfer spots.

It is my understanding that the cautions during hot laps is to repack the track instead of continuing under green and constantly throwing marbles up the track. Makes sense to me. The outlaws have been doing that for awhile and I think it is catching on elsewhere.

I thought the heavy track was nice. We always had heavy tracks here especially Manzanita in the spring and fall. Cars would come in from wheel packing and be so covered you could hardly tell who it was! haha

If you want a new appreciation of track prep watch the piece Chet did on Flo called 'Dirt 101' I thought it was interesting.

Anyways I am super jealous of you guys having so many tracks and racing all summer. We ain't got nothin' here in Az anymore. Sad. #imissmanzy

The upside to not having much going on is that you can’t nitpick every little thing that isn’t perfect. Since we have so much racing it provides plenty of opportunity for critiques.

True I suppose but we used to complain about the crappy bathrooms at Manzy and the fact that Canyons lights ran half on generators and they only had port a potties and now look.. nothin'. Count your blessings is my point. Although most of the midwest tracks are safe because of location or community involvement. Have fun at Bloomington tonight! I'll be tuned in on Flo with a cold beer or 6.

Azsprintfan, I wasn't aware that Canyon Raceway Park had shut down. I haven't been there since they stopped running sprints a few years back. I can't bring myself to drive to the track in Casa Grande to watch two 7-car heats and a feature for sprints, and sit through multiple other classes, but will likely take in the Western World there in the fall on the way home from the USAC sprint finale in Meeker, OK.

Yeah man Canyon shut down late last year. I heard the state would not renew the lease because of pressure from the city and development committees. Even though the property lies in a flood plane and will never be developed. Check another one up to progress I suppose. Sucks. I hear you on Casa Grande. I don't make the trek for the reasons you mentioned as well as a horrible amount of traffic I have to put up with to get there. It's at least an hour and a half from my home in New River. I do however highly recommend Mohave Valley Raceway though. Ron has done a great job up there. We went in April for the CRA show and they had about 30 cars. Stay in Laughlin. Nice little weekend getaway.

Did any tires delaminate, burn up or blow Thursday night?

I swear that 2 lane bottleneck between Chandler and Casa Grande is just as bad as the backups on 17.

You’re a complete idiot. The late night was due to a rain delay. Bloomington started at 7 and the USAC feature ended right at 10pm lol.

Grocery Guy 7/30/23 3:46 PM

The delay was due to rain, yes. BUT Lincoln Park Speedway's Thursday track drying efforts were terrible. They let the track just sit there for an extra hour, while the crowd baked in that heat. Then they bring out ONE contraption that ran in circles by itself. And it had to keep running into the pit area, I guess to get the radiator cleaned. The track never brought out any of their other water trucks or vehicles to help run in the track. Finally, at 7:45, sprint cars were called out. Track never even attempted to run in the bottom. ONE VEHICLE to run in a rain-soaked track? Unacceptable. No need for us to sit there till past midnight because they couldn't do a better job getting the track run in.

I was at Fairbury Friday night and they had 5 vehicles running in their track prior to their PDC preliminary night races. And after every qualifying race, their pack truck was pulling a unit that was weighted down and had 8 tires on it, working the inside of the track. That's how you pack a track.

First, SPIKER is the best thing to happen to LPS since Farrar ran it.
Second, The track was perfect all night. To stay otherwise is blasphemy.
Third, THEY RACED, the track was fine by feature time. Im happy.

First off Chuck don’t take this personal, as it’s not meant that way.
Your gonna post what the track was like while just watching it on FLO?
I too watched it on FLO, everyone in attendance knew more about the track conditions than I did since I didn’t attend.
I can’t accurately asses track conditions for all night if I’m not there.
Agiain Chuck nothing personal, JMO.

Perfect all night????? You confusing us again……

Please clarify……...

Glad my stalker got in on it.

1 Spiker is the best thing to happen in years to LPS. That's true, I mean it.
2. The blasphamy is that you can critisize any track but LPS here. KInd of joke really..

3. I was right, . The bottom of LPS was so soft and greasy nobody could run on it till they had a couple larger count and lap races which widened it out. If you go back and watch, The wreckers were sinking down low (Not the infield) and the cars were forced to run a narrow lane and a half track. which caused a bunch of the get together s. Im not bashing. But agree with Grocery guy, Some push trucks, a grader, a 2500pd support class could have finished running that in, Im happy they raced sad so much got tore up.

Used to make the Kokomo/Burg two shows and the THAT/LPS shows every year. The only night i could have made that I didn't this year was Circle City. Was convinced it would rain out. Im glad I was wrong.

7 of 8 ain't bad. I see tons of post on FB and X about how everyone's mad tri state didn't run today. Im kinda miffed. They've tried that before. Many of the non local racers and half the fans didn't show up They gotta have a travel day to make work monday... Sad for Tri state they couldn't get it in, but fully understand the not making it up.
