High Limit Daydream

I posted this on the Twitters. Just daydreaming, but wouldn’t this be kinda cool. So we know the WOO limit their drivers participation in races not under their approved umbrella. But does it limit the team itself? Say the 17 team rolls into 34 Raceway tomorrow and unloads to have Ricky Stenhouse buckle up. Or shows up at Kokomo to have fellow NOS driver JG take the controls. Or JJR with Cole Macedo. Or any other number of scenarios. I’m sure it won’t happen, but would be neat if it did

Ilovedirttrackracing 4/24/23 3:38 PM

I think that they should just put a number 17 x on the side of the car and see what happens. Lmao. It happen a couple of years ago when usac tried something like this. Robert Ballou just put a letter behind his number 😳. Just thinking out loud 😉. God bless America 🇺🇸. Thanks ☺️ ❤️

Carson Macedo ran a Tarlton sprint in California this weekend. He ran second to Dominic Scelzi in a SCCT race. SCCT is a 360ci series.

oppweld 4/24/23 6:38 PM

Stenhouse is scheduled to run 34 Tomorrow.

flagboy55 4/24/23 8:17 PM

I just saw that. I missed it originally. That’s great to see. Hopefully he’s at all of em

There is a fine line between being clairvoyant and having a Freudian mind slip.

dsc1600 4/25/23 10:57 AM

Kasey Kahne is entered today, I assume he would forego the “exclusivity” bonus and run most or all of them.

I didn't realize High Limit was racing at Kokomo....
I wonder if my wingless purist buddy Professor Funk is gonna lower his standards & check it out? :41::
I sure would!:23:

Yes, I will be there. Have been to many wing shows. With no inverts in the heats, you have to wait until the feature to see much racing. I have seen some pretty good features the last 5 or 6 years.

With tonight a glorified All Star Show, odds on Larson to win has to be in the +275 range....

I don't think I have seen one downtube torn off and the other bent in half and broken off before. Conner Morrell went for a ride but that frame damage was something.

Re: High Limit Daydream

Once down tubes were gone, the frame bathtubed bent in half forward of the driers compartment. Glad they both walked away.

Guess again....
Excellent race! :22:
Glorified Allstars? Big car count, Posse winner, strong field, Larson, Kofoid, Marks...
Glorified indeed! Whats not to like? :8:

I skipped the heats tonite to watch hoops, so I don't know if they were good, but feature kicked ass! :8:

Too bad Larson didn't win this one...that "Yeley fan" from the other post mighta thought Kyle was somebody!;)

On a serious note, amazing Larson was out racing already after that hard hit he got in Sunday's Cup race (I didn't watch much of it...was at my local short track, starting its final scheduled year of action). Interesting, Kyle's Cup car and tonight's mentioned wreck, had bars breaking off the cars...that DOES dissipate energy (taking it from the driver absorbing it); just a different look than when Indycars and f1 cars do it...most likely not idea, but in both of these cases, the drivers walked away...

Re: High Limit Daydream

I thought the feature was good, But two or three of the double file restarts triggered more wrecks, too many wrecks in fact. How many USAC features we see go green to checker? A bunch.

Such a glorified All Star Show that not WOO car there could podium that was there.

ThrowbackRacingTeam 4/26/23 8:18 AM

I was at Burlington last night. Good show overall. Track had enough character to make wing cars exciting to me. Features were real good. The heats, only the first lap but you don’t want to miss the starts, that’s when the action happens like that big one in turn one. If I were them I’d not have a support class at these shows and better promote the 410’s instead.

Another quality program for the High Limit Series....Zeb Wise has turned around his program in the 26....The longest 15min I have ever endured in a 305 show....on to Kokomo

To be fair there were 2 and they are currently 11th and 12th in points. 2 weeks ago 6 of the top 8 were WoO drivers.

23 cars out of the top 40 in current WoO points were in attendance. I have been coming to this track on and off for over 50 years. I have had a low preference for the wing variety for some time now, but I was duly impressed on what took place on track last night.

and the track held up. Had a nice cushionf or those who wanted and the bottom stayed fast. I got so used to wings being black slick with no cushion. Pleasant change.

flagboy55 4/26/23 2:41 PM

Hat’s off to the High Limit series. They didn’t meet their goal of being done by 10 but was good nonetheless. Tip of the cap to the 34 crew. I thought the track was nice all night. Really enjoyed a real cushion. My favorite part of this is Dillon and Vince Welch in the booth. I like the other guy’s on other series but it’s a great change of pace to not be yelled at and properly annunciation of driver’s names. So Kokomo up next with no support class. We’ll learn more about if it can be done in the desired time window with one class. I don’t expect 50 cars at Kokomo either. We’ll see

Hey Flagboy...I did see Thunder Cars at Kokomo??.....is that correct????

flagboy55 4/26/23 4:23 PM

We’ll you might be right but on the High Limit site it only says 410 Sprint Cars. The Kokomo website says thunder cars as well. I would think the tracks site would be gospel but ???

Blitzman 4/27/23 12:12 AM

I know it’s not popular with some. But a support class with 20 or less cars are nice to have during events like these. 2-3 heats and a A-main to fill the downtime. But the main thing is to help widen the track out for better racing in the Amain of feature Event. But gotta keep that support class races on a time limit. Just my $.02

I was at the Lakeside show and they were very strategic with the support class to fill in the gaps of the show. They even split up when they run the heat races of the support class to fill in the gaps better.

There was a lengthy delay at Lakeside for a serious sprint car wreck, and they moved the support class A main to the end of the night.

My one comment would be to get rid of the dash draw. Let it happen at the pit shack. Not any entertainment value in watching it.

I only watched on Flo. I thought it was a good feature. Theu have a nice mix of drivers running. Not sure having more WoO teams would make the racing any better. They don't seem yet to have the drawing power the WoO does. I realize that it is made for streaming, but I don't see any way that either show broke even at the gate. Hopefully more will turn out as they venture east. I will be at next Tuesday's show at

Haven't figured out that the gate means nothing? They lease the track. Some sponsor or millionaire cover the purse. I mean you're getting Kings Royal and World One hundred style shows here in the comfort of home at pennies a race, I don't see weekly racing anywhere, Or even WoO holding up to that.

I mean Kokomo isn't even posting or promoting it from what I see. Even though they stand to gain on concessions. I may know nothing and be totally wrong. But tracks can't compete with it on their own and higher funded teams are going to race for nothing less than 20k to win now.

Millionaires don't become millionaires by losing money. Not sure how it is covered, but did notice more mainstream ads during the breaks on Tuesday. Eventually someone will want a return on their investment. Maybe they already are.

I doubt it. It's a write off.. or Like the Saudi golf. BECAUSE THEY CAN.

I got nothing against rich people at all. But in some cases it goes against all the laws of economics. Really isn't going to hurt em either way.

I asked a car owner last week how we can spread the $$$ out among more classes and races and he said it's not flo. It's some $$$ man or group behind it.

Why does it matter where the money is coming from?

Larsen started this series, so a big chunk of cash is probably coming from him. If it is, at least he is interjecting money back into the sport is a way that numerous teams can benefit.

He could own a sprint car team and limit his monetary involvement to 1-2 teams.

What im saying is, Your going to have 40 teams with the best of everything running for great $$ and a fanbase that don't go to the track as often as they used too. And when the big $$$ payouts stop, It's back to what tracks are left for 1500-5k to win and a few specials.

Like the fanbase, The driver base isn't getting any younger either. A few standouts. If they don't go to Nascar or something else, Or just get out altogether, Which is what happens in most.

You can foresee the future of this series? Give them a chance man. Damn. You're already writing them off after three races. The negativity never ceases to amaze me. Kudos to Larson, Sweet and the rest of his team for an outstanding opportunity for some midweek money to be made.

Im not writing them off. May make our sport bigger and better, IDK.

I seen what the LMs have been doing for a few years now and you got a couple dozen teams that show up for no less than 12k and a bunch of tracks that can barely put on two heats with the cost of things today.

Dirtfan 4/27/23 2:51 PM

Not sure too many on here are concerned about late modles,?I for one am not.

Kevin Gundaker told me at Granite City several years ago, during the Gold Crown that weekly late models were going away because of the cost. This was pre streaming. I am guessing 8 years ago or more. Not like this just started.

Re: High Limit Daydream

Oh I agree. But the big time payers come and go as well. I mean even WoO went bankrupt twice until WRG. All stars would be extinct if Stewart didn't step in. Xtreme sprints lasted one season despite being well supported.
