Excited for the season
I must say that I am as excited for the USAC season as I have ever been, I feel like there are more potential champions in the field than I have seen in a long time. Obviously by the time they get through Sprintweek the contenders for the crown get pared down a bit but as of now ( and this is off the top of my head) I believe that Grant, Bacon, Seavey, KTJ, Moles and Leary are all contenders on capable teams. I think that Ballou and Jake Swanson could both win it but I am not positive that I have read that they were following the tour full time although I assume they are.
I read that Westfall and Jadon Rodgers are both doing the whole tour, I am not convinced that they could win the championship but I feel like they both have an excellent chance to win races. I don't want to leave anyone out, I guess I am just saying that before all of the whining starts on here I want to get a positive post out there for the potential of one of the greatest seasons that I have seen. |

It ought to make for a great season! |
Re: Excited for the season
I wouldn't count anyone out. Luck rolls strange and if you look at past years it isn't about the most wins, It's about the least DNF's.
Two years ago Bacon had two or three incidents that most wouldn't have been able to continue racing that night. One was at Warsaw indiana, One at THAT and one at Burg. I think he podiumed a couple of em and just missed the other. Anyway, Strong, Very strong contingent. Axom had a darn fine year for a rookie last year. Gonna be a contender every night now. Moles, I would not put a championship out of his reach as long as he limits the mistakes. Ballou needs to qualify better. But I'd never count him out in a race. Don't think Hard Charger gets ya any points other than what the finish pays. Hope more will run more USAC shows, I mean last pays more than fourth or fifth at most reg shows and they do have great insurance for members. As always, THE BEAST man/ woman will win :) |

Always wanted to go, but never made it. To all of your points, a strong contingent of title seekers to Eastern Storm may mean my first trip to Pennsylvania. Definitely sounds like a season we won’t want to miss!

Re: Excited for the season
Nice discussion, men.
|
Don't forget about Stockon and Pursley!
|
How many different winners will there be? Over under be about 12 or 13? Seems like last year or 2 when Sunshine and Windom left people were talking like USAC was struggling.
|
I have to wonder if more guys thinking of running the whole tour with no expensive west coast at the end of the year. Just a thought
|
Myself i am looking forward to seeing more of Briggs Danner. I hope he swings back this way again for ISW and SmackDown. Dude is impressive and i always welcome out of towner’s to come play in Indiana.

Re: Excited for the season
He wasn't the only one impressing me last sprint week. Xavier Doney? and a couple others ran well.

Re: Excited for the season
I'm thinking Brady is a 5 time champion at the end of the year.
My flight leaves Saturday to Orlando to kick off the USAC season at Volusia and Bubba's. Exciting stuff. |
Going to be another great racing season. Looking forward to seeing everyone and getting together soon. Have fun and enjoy the great things that we all love. Many of Kodak moments and life time memories together again. God bless America and go blue 💙. Thanks 😉

What about TMez? Does he have a full time sprint car ride?
Somebody said he did on Hoseheads, but what do they know??? ;) |
Re: Excited for the season
Thought T-Mex's ride with Chris Dyson was only for Florida and USAC Pennsylvania swing.
|
No on the full time ride for TMez, unfortunately i did not win the Powerball or MegaMillion drawings, lol. To all of you in the sunshine state, enjoy the races and throw a few down for me. May you be blessed with nice weather and stay safe y’all.

Re: Excited for the season
I thought I would pull this thread back up after the season. 10 different winners in what seemed to be a strange season where just limiting DNFs and bad results isn't what won the Championship. JG had very rough stretch through May and early June before stabilizing in mid June and then becoming dominate after Sprintweek. Bacon was as advertised again this year and was night in and night out the best on the tour, his bad stretch came in the stretch run of the year and it let Grant slip away.
Axsom, Swanson, Leary, and Seavey all seemed to have hot runs throughout the year but also had very bad times as well. Cummins season looked like an EKG printout where he would win one night and be outside the top ten the next. Moles may have set a record torn up equipment but did get a win and lets not forget Westfalls big big win as well. I thought it was a great season, and the Championship was up for grabs by several guys until late in the year. |
Re: Excited for the season
Think it came down to these two things.
Grant lost his crew chief, called Jeff Walker, and got better as they went along. Brady lost his crew chief and never really overcame the small mechanical problems that usually doesn't happen to him. |
