July 26 should have been THAT?

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

Cool to see Devils Bowl (Tx) on the schedule. Surprised no Lakeside of I-70 Speedway. For a special events track, I-70 has been absent on a lot of the national touring calendars.

Well, the three TBA dates in the schedule all kind of line up with the Terre Haute dates in the 2022 schedule. We’ll see if they can get anyone to promote THAT or not. At least they have place holders for it.

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

A few surprises this year. Texas races, no West Coast trip at years end, Macon Speedway, ending the season in Oklahoma all departures from the “ typical” USAC schedule.

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

Burg Fall nationals 20K

I vote for either Montpelier or and Paragon for the TBA's if THAT can't be worked out.
THAT seems like a weird situation. If they have a contract or not? (Promoter group)

All Sprint weeks 8k to win. Almost all travel tracks are 6k or more.
BETTER! Hopefully more will follow or make more races with USAC Never understood running for 200 when start is 500-600 just up the street.

3 nights at Circle City! I assume that they cant find another track to pair with Perris out west. I imagine they lost their ass at the Arizona track so they need to find another track out there. I doubt many cars would haul all the way out there for one weekend.

I wonder if Perris undetermined future played a role in not scheduling a race there.

Interesting... Kutztown "Action Track" is a new one for USAC Sprints, i think, but its "show up points" only & not considered part of Eastern Storm. I saw USAC Midgets there a couple of years ago & it was great.... teeny track, usually run micro sprints.
Not sure if they've ever run 410s... should be hellacious!

Pancho Stapp 12/8/22 12:55 PM

Montpelier would be cool for me thats a 18 mile drive from the house

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

Guess I missed the 2 day show at Macon, that could be interesting

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

Damn, I'm so old I remember when USAC wouldn't run sprint cars on any track less than a half mile.

I didn't notice that the Perris Oval Nationals wasn't on the schedule.

Wow, that's sad.

Whats sad is the lack of fan support that killed it!

They lengthened the track last winter, or one before. They also have a 410 show called The In- posse-able. 305's and 360's seem to do better than the 410's. I'm lookin forward to it. Need more wingless in the east!

Watched one of the USAC east coast races, In one heat, I think it was Danner, Started sixth, Got up to second, Backed it in and the car stood and pirouetted on it's rear nerf and stalled. He restarted eighth and came back to second or won. can't remember. Action track USA USAC 360 east coast.

Good ole Funk took me there a few years back on Midget Week.....Chris Bell & Larson battling it out...full moon, ton'o fun! :6:
His Funkiness insisted on sitting bottom row, turn 4.... I sat on the top row & was still dodging baseball size mud clods, couldn't stop laughing:5:

Me too. I was second from top and clods the size of your head were coming at us all feature. Found pit stands best since then.

Good schedule! Hopefully things get squared away in Terre Haute to fill in those TBA’s. Happy to see Knoxville and Macon should be interesting if not wild as hell.

EldoraMark 12/8/22 6:20 PM

So Volusia is a non point paying race but Bubba is a point paying race. That's odd

My guess is, they are running with another class and not qualifying that race.

What happened to Selinsgrove ? I am disappointed. I don’t know what to think about the Action Track.

There is a new promotional team there. Action Track will be interesting at best.

Looks like a lot of miles on Americas favorite toll road for me. The Pennsylvania turnpike! Won’t be able to get to any of them in reasonable time without using it. Even a bridge toll too. People talk about diesel prices, I wonder if they are higher than the tolls??? Eastern storm is my favorite time of my racing year here in the east.

Huskermudd1 12/8/22 8:48 PM

East coast sprints have ran there the last couple of years

Yes, except that last year USAC moved the Hulman Classic from its traditional Wednesday before the 500 date. Happy to see that the date USAC is holding is where it should be. This should make any potential promoter very happy.

All of the dates at Terre Haute are what Track Enterprises used to run. Hopefully that’s a sign!

Really? I don't know where you're starting, but looking at that list of tracks, once you get to Central Pa., Harrisburg area, you don't need the Turnpike at all to go track to track...:31:

I tried turnpike dodging on one of my coaster trips which included williams grove park. You end up with a overheating transmission and bald brakes. Some of those roads are wicked. They even curve around barns.

Action Track is not much bigger but wider and more banked. Hopefully the fences are reinforced as the track viewing areas and pit area is up against the track surface. Wouldn't be surprised the USAC East Coast guys turn out in good number because the 410 engine is not an advantage here, the 360's will hold their own. Mark Smith won a winged 410 race there with a 360. Time will tell how this one plays out.

The old PRP Portsmouth Raceway Park (Same place it is now) Just the track was very small, maybe a bit bigger than Lawrenceburg Motorcycle speedway. I seen a all star show there winged and seen winged sprints totally back em in. Totally awesome. Lots of attrition and Mark Keegan won.

Look up Willow Grove Pa. It’s exit 343 on the turnpike. When looking at a map and knowing I have to go home after each race for work, you will see that it’s how you go to get anywhere in decent time from where I live. Central Pa is 100 miles west of here. Thanks for the help. The first three nites and Kutztown really aren’t in Central pa at all. Again thanks for the help.

Load up that E-ZPass, pick up your dad, and head to the track. Always enjoy the banter we share Steve. Hope to see and chat with you at a few more in '23.

Will do. It’s always good to see ya whether it’s out there or back here. EZ pass is a wonderful thing with all of the money we save. I’d cringe to see what the toll bill would be without it. 💰

I can attest the non-highway roads in the mountain areas of PA are ridiculous and borderline unsafe especially at night.

The bubs 12/11/22 11:55 AM

Re: USAC National Sprint Cars - 2023 Schedule

I attest to this as well. It really gets bad if there is fog involved. You have to grow up with it , so you’re use to it otherwise it’s tough to deal with. Too many switchbacks.

OK, if you're used to flat & straight roads, I guess :31:

flagboy55 12/11/22 12:51 PM

I have nothing to complain about with the schedule as long as the Action Track gets it’s races. Now just figuring out which ones to go to. I was hoping, even though I had no reason to think it would happen, that Joliet would be on the schedule. It’s 2 hours to my closest sprint car track for me, and 66 is 45 minutes. That’s nothing for my buddy Oppweld, but I just don’t like driving home more than that anymore, it lessens the enjoyment factor. And enjoyment is why I go!
