Eastern Storm

20 cars at Grandview tonight for the opener.

PIT CART 6/14/22 7:24 PM

7 car heat races or 2 ten car heats? Kind of a sad number of cars but I think this will be the new norm. If I am thinking correct Indiana will have three tracks running sprints on Friday. Hopefully they will get good car counts.

Rpracing1 6/14/22 7:58 PM

40 All-Stars at tonight’s Ohio Speedweek race Sharon

Dirtfan 6/14/22 8:38 PM

No McDougal tonight,wrenching for Leary.

wildman92 6/14/22 9:00 PM

Watching 20 cars race in Pennsylvania on a Tuesday night beats working 8+ hours a day in Indiana. Oh and it’s like 70 degrees here now. Where’s my hoodie?

Re: Eastern Storm

I would rather watch 20 non wing in PA than 100 wings in OHIO.

Charles, what about that Bacon?

Re: Eastern Storm

I thought a decent amount traveled. Was surprised that less locals didn't run. Must not have had access to a 410. Hey, Cowboy, we had fun at Grandview when you camped next to me. Next morning was rough, lol. Briggs Danner was impressive again.

Re: Eastern Storm

On top of the tire shortages, There are other parts shortages, Many teams getting motor overhauls etc are waiting on parts, Pistons etc. Last year had a few more, And a few teams joined in at various times during the week. I think Bright was in a 360 and almost won a couple of em. Was for sure the hard charger a couple nights

DirtTrackTherapy16J 6/15/22 1:34 PM

Charles you may have something on the parts shortages, but you forgot to mention one thing that the world doesn't have a shortage on....and that's dumbasses!!!! 20 cars though I dont think is a horrible number with all things considered.

Top 3 guys from USAC East showed up, Danner Drevicki & Bright.... maybe most of the others think they don't stand a chance?
Car count has always been a problem for Eastern Storm....

Still a big surprise that Danner passed Bacon for the lead before Bacon used a pick and the yellow then stopped that swapping. The kids got chops and I've been of the opinion for years that Alex Bright is the most underrated racer in the country Think Bloomsburg had several three sixties join in last year and may again.

Re: Eastern Storm

Briggs Danner is the next up and comer. The kid just needs a bigger opportunity and he will be a household name. I was hoping RUM would have called him when Thorson was vacated.

Problem with Danner is I dont think he brings $. Sadly that takes him out of a few opportunities.

smith19 6/15/22 10:08 PM

danner is driving for a guy who has plenty of money. look up heffner he's been at it for a while. he has top notch equiptment on the wing side. greg hodnett drove for him...

I know but heffner is a PA guy and I dont think its real likely he runs USAC schedule from there. Hope i'm wrong.

We part company on this one, Charles.

I ignored winged cars until I got FloRacing. Then, I started watching ASCoC because it was there. Well, guess what? ASCoC is exiting to watch and they have full fields and, in my opinion, put on quite a show.

USAC is still my number one preference, but I keep both series open on my browser so I can go watch ASCoC when USAC support series is running.

They are indeed sprint cars and certainly worth watching.

After the way Moles ran at Terre Haute, I can't see them dumping him.

Heffner picked up the Gallagher car when Bill passed. Heffner now is funding two cars. He has Borden in the 27 and Danner in the 5G. The question really depends on does he want to fund two cars and at what level? Its not about the money, but he does spend it wisely. Also keep in mind Sean Michael works for Heffner and is the brother to Curt who works on the 5G. This connection is likely how Heffner came to own the 5G.

Heffner has been relatively hesitant to travel in the past even with Hodnett. They would go out to Knoxville for two weeks, but that was really the only traveling they did with the exception of when Pittman finished the season a couple years ago on the tour to end the year, but that was done as a favor. Heffner also promotes Selingsgrove

Mike owns Lelands.com. Look it up if you are not familiar with it.

He looked decent at Atomic last night as well. I"ve been impressed with him so far, he has outperformed my expectations.

Sprint cars are like Ice Cream. Everyone likes ice cream....some choose Vanilla over Chocolate and vice versa. At the end of the day its still ice cream and we enjoy it for the pleasure its intended to bring.

I understand 20 cars 3 heats, but why did we have 29 midgets and still only 3 heats. Go back to 28 cars gets you 4 heats. 36 cars or more 5 heats taking top 3, with 2 semis taking 3 each. Give the fans and competitors more bang for their buck.

Re: Eastern Storm

What is this "5 heats" you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing. Can that even be possible? Sounds like some newfangled NASCAR stuff.

:5:

oppweld 6/17/22 8:04 AM

I would like to know the number that would generate 5 heats. I assume only 4 heats due to them being sponsored now days.

Moreland76 6/17/22 8:52 AM

I remember when you did not qualify in the fast32 you didn’t get to race a heat. Plus all heats were total inversion and only top 4 out of b main . Those were some high stress nights for sure.

i am fine the way it is. I really don't care for 2 semis.

Charles Nungester 6/17/22 11:00 AM

Re: Eastern Storm

I would like some uniformity Like 28 cars constituting four heats and ten lap heats no matter the track. Yeah some shows like Sprint Week may require 10-12 cars in a heat but most won't and it's almost impossible to pass eight n eight laps.

BrentTFunk 6/17/22 11:35 AM

Re: Eastern Storm

I hate to water down the racing. It's not supposed to be easy. The 6 car invert is a equalizer. The groups that run more heats generally start the fast guys in the front. Start 8th with the fastest cars in the front is pretty tough too.

See my original post. 35 or more up to about 48 (not likely) 35/5= 7,7,7,7,7, 15 qualify leaving 2 10 car semis taking 3 each with 1 promoter option: total 22 in feature.

If everyone makes the feature, it makes heats pretty meaningless, especially since they get qualifying times back. Thats why I like bigger cars counts (as well as more racing)

Yea, I thought he might pull the upset
After the first pass, tho, a bunch of guys passed him
Oh well....:14:

I think you have to get in the top 5 to start up front. With an invert you can't just cruise.
