Thanks for moving starting time up!!!!

ThrowbackRacingTeam 5/21/22 1:41 PM

Not a fan of starting at 5 or multiple support classes but to each their own. Thanks for the rain date and since it’s not on Friday or Saturday you can expect a better field of cars. I know at least one good car that is now planning on being there.

Is there any impact of LPS moving to Sunday?

PIT CART 5/21/22 3:22 PM

Does LPS normally run on Sunday after a rainout on Saturday?

Most folks gotta work Monday morning and don’t want to be at the track till 10 and then drive a hour or 2 home, but I’m thrilled that there will be 1 GOOD car there tomorrow. Nothing but junk there last night :10:

I hope they have a good crowd. Rescheduling a $10,000 to win race is risky. With the money they are putting up, and the money and work they are doing at the track, they deserve a good crowd.

Don't believe LPS running on Sunday will affect much. Gives the guys who don't want to run the half mile another option to race on this evening. The majority of guys running LPS would not be venturing to Terre Haute anyhow. Don't believe that the crowd effect will be much either.

Lots of guys I think would be good at THAT and I some I don't think have ever run it. It's all their cars and preference. But I think Cling, Hayslett, Kendall, Cockrum, Braxton Cummings, The Hurst Car (Don't know what Jordan Kinser's doing now) And several others could do well. Im not getting out like I used too but some guys like to go fast and others like the bullrings. I just love to see sprint cars air it out with the only thing slowing them down is how long the Right foot stays down.

Hope everyone has a good safe race sunday. It's just me, But I don't think Brady's tire was cut with the defects Im seeing on the net. Brand new mounted up tires split right down the middle etc. Could just of been cut but IDK Can't prove anything but be safe everyone.

Still haven't got a answer on the Leary ride, Have they actually run a Ford since before ISW last year?

Re: Usac: Hulman classic usac sprints moved to sunday, may 2

I'm pretty sure the 77 was running Fords before they joined the national tour.
Not sure what happened to Brady's tire, but it was almost flat when he went past the stands the lap before it blew apart.

I know they ran fords up until sprint week last year then that race him and thorson got into it. I looked and it was a chevy. Still is a chevy but they are still saying Ford.

Kudos to terre haute and their promoters.

PJ Wright 5/22/22 8:16 AM

The new promoters at THAT have done many good things. This move is NOT one of them. Both tracks originally were scheduled for yesterday with no issues between them. They both postponed to today for the same reason. Why is THAT entitled to a rain date and LPS is not? Is it because they announced the postponement an hour or two earlier? I believe that 99% of the fans and racers will stick with the track they were planning on going to originally. Maybe I'm wrong and this will actually draw some racers away from LPS, but I suspect that in the long run this move by THAT is going to come back to hurt them.

sp6967 5/22/22 9:31 AM

Does lps usually move to sunday when they rain out on Saturday? Does terre haute usually have a rain date?

bighd0522 5/22/22 9:37 AM

Appears to me a promoter,promoting

kcarm92 5/22/22 9:53 AM

was told Friday at driver's meeting that Sunday was the rain date ,they just didn't deicide on it yesterday, it was already planned ,not so much for the other track,

Charles Nungester 5/22/22 10:22 AM

Re: Usac: Hulman classic usac sprints moved to sunday, may 2

THAT/USAC set a rain date for Sunday on weds or thurs. LPS had none until the cancellation notice.

I see nothing wrong with what THAT did, We need more of it. Creativity! First time to the track $$$ First time winner $$$. Win another track on fri and our track sat $$$ Elect to start at the tail if your a first couple row starter and win 3-4-5 k for regular show. Those kinda things. Sure a bunch I can't think of. But Promoting is exactly what we need.

LPS, Well there's a bunch of racers and fans that probably want to race. I mean they probably have a arm band to get in anyway from the rainouts.

Get to the track if you can. I think a lot of guys could surprise themselves. Have fun everyone and be safe.

Re: Usac: Hulman classic usac sprints moved to sunday, may 2

Years ago I would have tried to get to both tracks in time to watch the features after careful planning on which would be finished first. Nowadays.....not so much.

Quite a few years ago many of us fans had to decide whether to go to the Gold Crown for USAC midgets,or Little Belleville about 30 miles away for POWRi midgets. LPS and THAT would be similar in distance apart as Granite City and Little Belleville. Most went to Granite City, but I often went against the popular opinion of the day on where to go to see what I thought would be the best race, and I went to Little Belleville instead, right from the parking lot at Granite City where I had been tailgating with friends that afternoon.

I'm sure some of them thought I was nuts going there, but I loved the place and saw so many great races at Little Belleville it was hard to pass up. One person told me I "Wasnt a real fan" given my decision to go there instead of the popular opinion of the day.

At the end of the night I saw the midget features at both tracks, and the one that told me I wasnt a "Real Fan" I saw running to his car with about 4 laps to go of the Gold Crown to apparently beat the rush after the race.

I do think that the offer from THAT is a rather interesting one.

Now if only tracks would offer a bonus towing in with an open trailer behind a 72 Chevy pickup that smokes a little like I saw Joey Allen do at a WoO race at Williams Grove one year and go set fast time.....

flagboy55 5/22/22 10:49 AM

I applaud Terre Haute for assigning the rain date Friday, I think that’s good business. I don’t blame LPS for rescheduling as it’s been a tough spring for them. I hope they both do well. If I hadn’t been in Arizona for 3 weeks I would be definitely driving to Terre Haute today. I hope we keep supporting the Action Track so they keep having USAC races and keep improving the facility. Today has actually turned into a good day for garage racing with 3 races we’ll have on. USAC Allstars and Lucas LM’s. Too bad LPS isn’t on Flo or I would be watching them too

If I was USAC I’d cancel all remaining dates at LPS. Take them off sprint week and run somewhere that doesn’t book against at the last minute.

ThrowbackRacingTeam 5/22/22 1:31 PM

Maybe retaliation for Stuebgen moving Hulman Classic to Saturday this year.

But, you're not USAC. And if you were USAC, you'd be educated enough to know that Joe also runs Bloomington Speedway and you would also be cancelling all remaining dates at that track. This isn't a fight that USAC is involved in and more than likely they'll stay the hell out of it.

Gee, he booked a race, Not punched USAC's comp director and threaten to arrest one of it's champions.

PIT CART 5/22/22 3:14 PM

I wonder if we have two promoters trying to give people a place to race at? Hasn’t the topic on this board for 5 years that drivers need paid more? Spiker has too make money and so does THAT. I would bet on which track has the most cars but keeping my opinion to myself. Enjoy your Sunday everyone 🍺🏁

So if Lincoln Park gets rained out next Saturday are they going to run Sunday against Haubstadt and Kokomo?

So since you live in Iowa would you go to any of these tracks next weekend anyway?

TQ29m 5/22/22 5:27 PM

Okay, think on this one, I hope they have at least several more board members at THAT, than Nascar has at where ever they are today, it's really not hard to count on the lack of seats covered.

Since you know I'm from Iowa you should know we ain't got no sprint cars out there only Wanged Hogsheds. I like to support Indiana tracks about 20 times a year.

Thats a lot of driving, probably costs you 2-2 1/2 times as much to drive here as it did last year. I dont mind the wings on Flo but I can only think of once in the last 20 years that I've paid to go see them. That time the new track here in Indy was opening and I figured they deserved my support.

It seems to me that losing the old Wednesday Race week date is not a good trade for the weekend before. Yes, I know there is a new kid in town, but lets not forget our old friends. Especially old friends who have put a lot on the line to make it better.

They are running 2 nights at Circle City Wed-Thurs. Closer to the crowds coming to Indy for the race.

Do you mean for the Tony Hulman Classic?

ronmil 5/23/22 11:52 PM

I prefer the traditional Wednesday before the 500 Tony Hulman Classic. This is the first time it was ever run on an Indianapolis qualifying day.
I wound up not attending any racing because I decided not to go to Indy because of the dismal weather forecast.
I had considered stopping at THAT if I’d gone to Indy. I couldn’t attend Friday because it wouldn’t allow me to get any rest before going to Indy.
The week before Indy used to be filled with dirt track racing available at Terre Haute, Indy fairgrounds and Bloomington.
I hope they return the Tony Hulman Classic to Wednesday before the 500 again.
That’s my two cents worth.
