LAWRENCEBURG’S USAC SPRINT SCHEDULE MOVED UP 2 HOURS ON SATURDAY

By: Richie Murray – USAC Media

Lawrenceburg, Indiana (March 30, 2022)………The Midwest opener for the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship to be held this Saturday, April 2, at southeastern Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway will feature a new time schedule a little bit earlier than the usual.

The event at the speedy 3/8-mile dirt oval will now have the pit gates opening at 1pm Eastern on Saturday, with the grandstands opening at 3pm, the drivers meeting at 3:15pm and cars on track at 4pm with qualifying and racing to immediately follow.

The decision by USAC and Lawrenceburg Speedway officials to move the event schedule up two hours earlier was made to prioritize the comfort of fans and teams due to the forecasted chilly temperatures, who will now experience the show in the sunlight of the day,

Saturday’s docket includes the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship, KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds and Bessler's U Pull & Save Hornets.

Adult general admission tickets are $30, kids 7-12 are $7 and children age 6 and under are free.* Pit passes are $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

Saturday’s event can also be watched LIVE on FloRacing at https://bit.ly/3frPoW6.

I have a funeral to go to. Was going to go after. This will rule me out, but I still think it was the right call

After all you've been through, I'm sure you were really looking forward to this one. You are to be commended for your unselfish attitude. Too bad so many folks have the 'all about me' philosophy. I'm hoping you're going to get to enjoy many great races this year.

Sorry about the funeral.

I spent a lot of years chasing races, and have enjoyed LOTS of shows were I just got there for the features. No one talks about the heats after the feature usually anyway. Maybe that would be an option for you? Get some updates on the way to find out how far along the program is...

COLD TEMPS CANCEL LAWRENCEBURG
Lawrenceburg, Indiana (April 1, 2022)……….The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship event scheduled for this Saturday, April 2, at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway has been canceled.
Due to the forecast calling for less-than-ideal cold temperatures, Lawrenceburg Speedway and USAC officials will not conduct the event, which was to be the Midwest opener for the series at the 3/8-mile, high banked dirt oval.
The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship season will now return to Lawrenceburg Speedway twice more in 2022, on Sunday night, July 24, for Indiana Sprint Week and on Saturday night, October 1, for the Fall Nationals.
Lawrenceburg Speedway resumes racing action next Saturday night, April 9, with the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints, KOI Auto Parts Modifieds, Impact Sports Pure Stocks and the Bessler's U Pull & Save Hornets. Pits open at 4pm Eastern with the front gates opening at 5pm, hot laps at 6pm and opening ceremonies at 7pm. Admission prices are $17 for adults, $7 for kids age 7-12 and free for children ages 6 and under. Pit passes are $32 for all ages.
Three races remain during the month of April for USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car racing, on Saturday, April 16, at Chillicothe, Ohio’s Atomic Speedway, on April 29 at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway and on April 30 at Haubstadt, Indiana’s Tri-State Speedway.

LOL!! Cold temps. It’s not supposed to be below 50 until 10:00. Maybe has more to do with the amount of teams backing out of racing with USAC

So why did Lincoln Park postpone?

Guessing on my part, they never moved race up 2 hours. Colder temps then Burg and 60% chance of rain. No rain on Burgs forecast. Look it sucks for both, but looks worse on USAC's part especially with all the teams vocally stating they weren't going.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Look for a light mix of rain and snow early Friday morning, before clouds break away during afternoon.

Air temperatures will remain warmer than freezing and after the high temperature of 80º Wednesday the ground is warm so roads will be only wet.

Daytime highs on Friday will reach into the upper 40s.

Cooler weather will dominate through the weekend, but temperatures will be close to normal levels for this time of year, in the mid to upper 50s.

Saturday brings the chance of a few light showers during evening and overnight and a few more showers are possible Monday.

Next week looks unsettled, especially during the afternoon each day next week, but highs will be near normal in the 60s. More April showers on the way!

55 degrees at moved up start time. No rain in forecast. USAC punted this one due to the poor turnout that was going to happen.

Always the conspiracy theories. USAC would not have cancelled without input from the promoter. Tough weather to draw a big crowd. I hope all this drama doesn't hurt the tracks that are stepping up to pay more money. 4 $10,000 races in May alone. Not Kings Royal or Knoxville National money, but more than ever before. Remember the tracks put up the money not the sanctioning bodies. The more cars and fans that show up, the more they can pay. Maybe some guys like to run for $1,500 to win. To each their own.

Florence Speedway
The races for Saturday April 2nd are cancelled. With a forecast calling for cool temps, cloudy skies, windy conditions and a possibility of showers in the area, speedway officials feel a cancellation is best at this time. This, combined with high fuel prices making drivers hesitant to make long trips with a questionable forecast and live streaming of races keeping fans at home when weather isn’t good, has led us to believe the chances of this event being successful are too low to be worth the risk.

If Florence truly believes that, then why allow live streaming at all? Seems silly.

It said "If the weather is iffy"

I believe this race at Florence had twelve cars for five grand last year and the spring fifty only about 18.

But this is a track that for regular shows always had great crowds. It was down last two times I was there. One time significantly on the fan turnout side.

I left the track at 1500 hours, temperature 42 degrees. As we say in sailing: weather predicting is still an inexact science (better than the past), but nothing beats stepping upon deck to check the local reality.

Dang, buddy, you just missed it being 80 degrees on Wednesday. Welcome back to the midwest! :3:

Understand, my post was only about the conditions at that time. However given the general conditions I wonder how many spectators would actually attend given the weather, Flo, and the March Madness. A promotor needs the casual fan, we diehards alone are not enough to make it financially viable.

Given that the Flo and March madness elements were known in advance that leaves weather as the only variable. We diehards have all traveled to races held under much worse forecasts, so I suspect your comment about the need for casual fan support is correct. That being the case, I'm afraid promoters are going to be very quick to pull the plug on any raceday that doesn't have perfect weather especially if it's a special (increased purse) event.

And I think the price of gas will play into that too. If its iffy weather people may not make the gas investment and maybe not see a race.
