Chase Briscoe gets his first career cup win.

Nascar's 200th cup winner is Chase Briscoe! Awesome to see him get a cup win!

Bet that makes a lot of people on here happy.

TQ29m 3/13/22 7:32 PM

It sure makes me happy, an almost local boy, and good sprint car driver, couple of them in the top 5, way to go guys.

Cuz its nascar news or is there smthn about Chase that people don't like??? Seems like he is a great down to earth guy. But ya, I know the keyboard jockeys can come out for anything...

I think its been a great nascar season and with him, Larson, Blaney, Reddick, etc all running good; why not follow it? (I'm not saying sit in front of the TV for 5hrs a Sunday - I never do that - but there are plenty of ways to keep up on it and not hate it cuz its not a non-wing sprint car race in IN on a perfect Friday night)

Sorry, there may be a misunderstanding. On my comment. "Bet that makes a lot of people on here happy." Wasn't meant to be anything bad. I worded it poorly. I was meaning it as, it probably makes a lot people on here happy that Chase finally got a cup win. I was very happy for him to get the win!
I could see how it could come off as being the other way around, due to some people tend to complain about post like this, not involving sprint cars in Indiana.

Re: Chase Briscoe gets his first career cup win.

Makes me happy. I only got to see him run a sprint a few times and a couple of those they had motor problems, So I never knew how good he could be.

Then came the Peak Challenge which we voted and got him in, Between that and Chases helping, spotting, pitting etc for other teams, He got the chance in ARCA and the rest is history.

Congrats Chase. I'm sure your dad and Grandpa got a smile a mile wide.

He honestly did it the old fashion way, He earned it.

I get it now. :8:

Thankfully a post about Chase doesn't have to be labeled "OT".

So far, only open-wheelers are all but locked into what they used to call the "chase": Him, Larson, Bowman, & even Cindric (F2000s for two years)!

I lost the message, but I am about certain Chase msgd me about 10+ years ago about running my car in Tulsa. He didn't have the rental money, but a Hoosier deal and woulda bolted his own shocks on. I was surprised he didn't have smthn better than my car! I didn't have any means to fund the rest of the trip, so it didn't work out. Wished I could find that msg in my IoW inbox...(you gota delete them when they fill up, which I quit doing after this).

I agree 100%. I told Kevin that at DuQuoin a couple of years ago. Only met Chase once, but seemed like a real nice kid. Of course, Kevin was always a good guy too. I always liked his Grandfather's cars. Good winner.

Chase Briscoe 3/14/22 5:15 PM

Appreciate it guys, looking forward to running some more sprint car stuff this year.

Now that's a real racer that has not forgotten his roots. THANK YOU Chase for taking the time to offer appreciation on IOW. We could all feel your emotion yesterday when you got out of the car. It would have been awesome to have your wife and son with you. But we all know there will be many more victory lane interviews! You've really taken well to this new car since Daytona. Congrats again! :22:

Chase; do you remember that about the Tulsa deal? Or did I have too many brain injuries...it coulda been another Chase...?

Blackduce 3/14/22 8:18 PM

Just finished watching on TV. On NASCAR Beyond the Wheel.
They ask if we knew how many race car drivers come from Evansville area. And one of the announcers said he did. And named many. Then dwelled on the Brisco family and their values racing from 3 generations. Who all are blessed with PRIDE.

Congratulations. Great to have an IOW alumnus in victory lane on a national stage.

I remember his early races at Paragon. Got some of it on tape.

Sounds about right. I remember messaging every owner I could find and telling them they could keep all the winnings and I could probably bring a couple Hoosier tires.

I've been a fan ever since; thru the ARCA career/championship, truck races/wins, amazing Xfinity years, and now Cup! I'm humbled to have gotten the chance to interact.

Great to see the NASCAR success, espcly now in the #14 Cup car; but I think we'd all go wild if maybe AJ had a good answer someday about a path to get you in the original #14 at the big track for the big race in May!!!???

If only AJ Hired short trackers. Not a knock, it's his Operation to run

John Andretti doesn't count? Or was that too long ago? :3:

I did always love seeing the Snider-Foyt #111 at the Champ races for many, many years.

Im not saying he hasn't and yes, I loved the #11 Ziggy champ car as well. Im just saying the chance isn't being given. Although I don't see many sprint car guys in the NASCAR pipe right now, it has been the hot ticket for the last thirty years.

Both Gordon and Larson had almost 30% win percentage in their peeks in Nascar and Smoke has his three championships. Newman is considered the toughest to pass in Nascar and Stenhouse is still Stenhouse, Win it or wear it.

I suppose INDY is a different direction. But Im of the last Generation where they raced at THAT or Indy Fairgrounds on Weds and Indy on sunday and there were a dozen sprint midget guys that you identified with.

Foyt has nothing to prove. Just wish his and other teams would put our guys in the pipeline. I think someone like Kody Swanson could win in anything on pavement.

I thought the Bristol night dirt race was excellent and hey even got running again after rain delays pretty quick.

Was enjoyable to see Briscoe just go for it.
Own up to it and enjoying it.

Walk to the guy he spun, "Well im going to go apologize, I was driving hard and knew when I did it we were spinning" "If he hits me, He hits me"

Briscoe & Reddick strike me as two decent human beings who would apologize regardless of the outcome.

Re: Chase Briscoe gets his first career cup win.

Think he was leading at the first rain delay or second stage caution and they asked if he wanted to rain harder so they'd call it. "If we win, we win, if we don't we don't. It's Easter and there are more important things in life"

This quote sounds good until you take out yourself and cost a guy his first Cup win because winning was more important.

By the by, I hear Kyle Busch whine and complain after most races how someone got lucky and fell into a win they didn't deserve but I didn't hear much out of him last night. Funny how perspective changes opinions.

Re: Chase Briscoe gets his first career cup win.

Tyler reminded me of Mark Martin in his post race reaction (I like and have respect for all of them). I do not think it was his last chance to win, as he has been up there in the pavement races too. Lets hope (for the former midget / dirt racer).

B.

Reddick said he'd of done the same thing and so would most of the field if they had a car as strong as Chase had. Earnhardt built a franchise on being the bad guy.

As for Rowdy Busch, Tons of guys like him that are heros that consider second to be the first looser He's there to win every night. Considers the more he races the sharper he stays and Nascar limits races so he can't stay sharp.

Hate him or Love to hate him. Rowdy is a racer's racer.

Earnhardt was a lot smarter than Rowdy, he coveted the intimidator image on track, but did not go out of his way to act like Barry Bonds with media and fans off track. Earnhardt had the ability to make people madder than he!! but come up later and put his arm around them of give them a hug and diffuse (for the most part) the situation.

I wasn't making Chase out to be the bad guy here, I'm still gonna be rooting for him. I just wanted to point out what I believe is the hypocrisy in his quote, it's if we win we win and if not no big deal and then an hour later its worth taking two guys out. I just don't care for people talking out of both sides of their mouths and alot of folks do it not just him. Shoot I like T-Mez but in the heat race he all " slide or die, slide or die, I gotta go" and in the feature he all " These young guys have to learn some respect".

It just makes me laugh is all I'm saying.

Situational ethics :)
They all want to cultivate an image of a clean racer but on the last lap many of them lose their ethics. Case in point is #22. "It was just one of those racing deals, I was just going for the win. "

Can't speak for Chase, but he's a very religious man and I respect him for his devotion. He's mentioned many times how blessed he is to be driving at the top level and in his idol's car and team. He wants to win, but what I took from that interview was that if they call the race and he wins fine. With all the other crap going on in this country and overseas, it was Easter. What the day stood for was bigger then the race.

Thats what I took from it as well at the time (Rain delay)

Chase has posted here as well. He was also willing to take whatever Reddick's response was it. Reddick was willing to accept the apology. Sure he'll remember it for future chances, but willing to accept the "I messed up"

Did not hear that, maybe they got confused with his non wing team that he had put together pre-covid. Dave Darland was suppose to drive and Brady Short was going to wrench. Would have love to see that come to fruition. Did hear them give a shout out to him being the youngest 410 winner at a little track in Paragon Indiana I believe in 2008 to take that title away from Jeff Gordon.

Well unfortunately, on his Wikipedia page, that’s what it says. I’m surprised nascar would use an unreliable source like that but then again I’m not..
I do remember that non wing team with DD. I wish it would have happened.

I am a Chase Briscoe fan also, mostly because of his ROOTs to Sprint car racing, and there are several who have made the grade to a retirement venue, Stewart grew up in my shadow, at Columbus Kart Club, we were also at several WKA races when he was younger, always good to be with friends, not so much now, but in TQ's later, still watch for him at race tracks, have a good picture at Barnsville Ga, of the OUTLAW's, Tony and Nelson, and MY Gang, talking over the trip down, they always took the Red Eye Express, we went down early and were ready for practice on Thursday, they usually didn't get there till Sat morning, lotsa good fun, and memories!

I could see how they could get confused, because Chase ran some WoO races with his car/team. If I remember correctly Chase ran his car and put Bell in the 2nd car for a WoO race in 2018 or 2019. I want to say it was at I-55.

Re: Chase Briscoe gets his first career cup win.

My hope is that Chase is so successful that he can field a team full time and participate when and at his convenience. Don't really see this much for NW but he did last year at Paragon. But midgets and Winged. yeah.

Races like the Memorial Day burg WoO show have become staples for a few guys.
